Adoption is a beautiful gift that communicates a choice with great intention to form an everlasting bond. Did you know that in the U.S., of all unmarried women who carry their child to term less than 1% choose to place their children for adoption? This figure is compared to about 9% before 1973. Please help spread the word that adoption can be a wonderful way to provide a loving, caring and promising life for child. It is a choice that everyone can live with. Visit www.GivingBirthtoHope.org and www.StElizabethCatholicCharities.org to learn more about adoption in the Archdiocese of Indianapolis. Paul is hosting a dinner party at the new rectory on January 17th for any parishioners who would like to join him. Besides an enjoyable meal and general discussion of the parish, there will also be a presentation on planned giving. We will limit the dinner to the first 12 parishioners who sign up. We still have some openings so please call the parish office to sign up at 353-9404. Dear Friends of Holy Spirit, A very Merry Christmas to all of you!! As we move into this beautiful season, let us make an extra effort to show our love to people around us. At the first Christmas, our Heavenly Father gave to us his most Precious Gift: His Son! May we share Christ through our words and actions this Season. A reminder that our Christmas Mass Schedule remains the same as last year (4:00, 6:00, 10:00 on Christmas Eve, and Midnight, 9:30 and 11:30 on Christmas Day). Midnight and 11:30 are in Spanish, with the rest in English. 4:00 P.M. on Christmas Eve is the Mass that is very, very crowded. If you want a more comfortable congregation size, try one of the others! Sunday afternoon, December 23rd, we are arranging the church for Christmas (3:00 P.M.). We would appreciate some new helpers, along with the regulars. Please donate a few hours Sunday afternoon and help make our church more beautiful than it already is! Christmas afternoon, I will be heading to Louisville, Kentucky, where I will join many family members for Christmas. My brother, Joe, and his wife have hosted Christmas Day for many years and the tradition continues. With Mom’s absence this year, we will appreciate family even more. God’s Blessings and Love, Our family would like to thank all of the people involved in the visitation, Funeral Mass and Mercy meal for Lawrence Adkins. May God bless you abundantly for your kindness. The Adkins Family NO MORE ALUMINUM CAN RECYCLING We will no longer be collecting aluminum cans on our grounds. If anyone would like to take the metal bins that are located by the newspaper recycling, please do so, first come first serve. We will continue to recycle paper in the green Abitibi containers by the garage. We made $1400 last year in paper recycling, but the aluminum can recycling does not break even Many people are dropping off other types of recycling that we do not recycle...please...please...paper is all that we will be recycling! Thanks for your understanding! CEMETERY MEMORIAL MASSES Remembrance Trees will be available at both locations with ornaments to remember loved ones. We will have a blessing of the trees following mass. All are welcome to join us. The Trees will be taken down Monday, January 7, 2013. If you wish to take home your remembrance bulb please pick it up by Sunday, January 6, 2013 If you have any questions, please call Susan Meacham at 317574-8898. HOLY SPIRIT CHURCH INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA Youth Group Caroling/Downtown Lights Trip 2012 We will be going Christmas Caroling on Sunday, December 23, 2012 at Crestwood Village and then heading to Jockomo’s for pizza and then downtown to enjoy the lights. Remember, you can donate to an SGO (to benefit Holy Spirit School tuition) and receive a state tax credit as well as the normal federal deduction. If you would like more information about any of the above, Please call the school office at 352-1243! December 23, 2012 VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY We are still looking for people to drive parishioners to Mass. We have now received a few responses but not enough to proceed yet. We realize that it would be hard to commit driving every Sunday, so if you would like to be put on a list to drive once or twice a month, we will try to get someone to organize a schedule. Until we get more volunteers, we won’t be scheduling anything. Call Quenia at 353-9404 in the Parish Office (or email is even better at [email protected]) and let her know if you would be willing to drive once or more per month and let her know which Mass. Did you know that there is a common misconception that people with high blood pressure will experience symptoms, such as nervousness, sweating, difficulty sleeping or facial flushing? The truth is HBP is largely a symptomless condition. If you ignore your blood pressure because you think symptoms will alert you to the problem, you are taking a dangerous chance with your life. Everyone needs to know their blood pressure numbers, and everyone needs to prevent high blood pressure from developing. Blood Pressure screenings will be first week-end of each month in the West Vestibule. Joan LeBeau R.N. FORMER ALUMNUS OF HOLY SPIRIT SCHOOL TO BOWL GAME Jack Doyle, a Western Kentucky University football player, and an alumnus of both Holy Spirit and Cathedral High School will play in the NCAA Little Caesars Bowl for Western Kentucky University. MERRY CHRISTMAS DECORATING FOR CHRISTMAS The earliest we can decorate for Christmas this year is Sunday, December 23. We will meet at 3p.m. after the Spanish Mass. If you can carry heavy decorations down stairs or climb ladders, please come! Pizza will be provided at 5:30. I would like to have everything done Sunday so no one needs to decorate on Christmas Eve.
