London, 2015 – For the first time, Athena Network carries
out their International Congress on Mental Health and
Wellbeing for Migrants in London with a representation of
organizations, experts and professionals from the LatinAmerican and other communities that live in the UK.
Londres, 2015 -Por primera vez, la Red Atenea realiza su
Congreso Internacional de la Salud Mental y Bienestar de los
Emigrantes en Londres con gran representación de
organizaciones, especialistas y profesionales de la comunidad
latinoamericana residente en el Reino Unido.
4th International Migrant Health Congress is led by Dr
Joseba Achotegui, the General Secretary from Transcultural
Psychiatry Section at the World Psychiatry Association. This
congress will take place in School of Oriental & African
Studies , University of London (Russell Square, London,
WC1H 0XG), on Saturday 17th October 2015 from 9:15 am
to 7 pm.
En su cuarta edición, este Congreso Internacional de Salud
Mental y Bienestar de los Emigrantes contará con la presencia
de investigadores y representantes de numerosos países
quienes presentarán sus proyectos, resultados y prácticas. El
evento es dirigido por el Dr Joseba Achotegui, Secretario
general de la Sección de Psiquiatría Transcultural de la
Asociación Mundial de Psiquiatría y se llevará a cabo en la
Universidad de SOAS (Russel Square, London, WC1H 0XG), el día
Sábado 17 de octubre de 9am -7pm.
The Telefono de la Esperanza UK, commemorating its 10
years as a pioneer in the prevention and promotion of
emotional health of people in crisis and especially focusing
on the Spanish-Portuguese communities, is jointly
organising with the Athena Network, the University of
Barcelona, the Coalition of Latin American Organizations of
the United Kingdom (CLAUK), Lambeth & Southwark Public
Health, the IberoAmerican Metropolitan police, Justice for
Cleaners SOAS, Meru verdadero, Extra Media, Express
News, and Aculco radio.
We would like to invite you to this very interesting and
highly relevant conference which will have contributions
from around the world on mental health and wellbeing in
migrants. Many people on this list have great expertise in
migrant health and excellent contributions to make but
there is no need to be an expert to attend. There will be a
great spread of participants including people with
experience of migration, voluntary sector, statutory services
and academia.
The conference is free and you will have to bring your own
lunch but there are plenty of places nearby selling food and
drink. There will be a fiesta afterwards (the lead organisers
are Latin/Spanish)! More details will be provided in due
course.

Habrá amplia participación de la comunidad especialista local. El
Teléfono de la Esperanza UK, conmemorando sus 10 años como
pionera en la atención en crisis en asuntos de salud emocional
en lengua hispana y portuguesa, coorganiza este evento junto a
la Red Atenea , la Universidad de Barcelona, la Coalición de
Organizaciones Latinoamericanas del Reino Unido (CLAUK),
Public Health Southwark, la Iberoamerican Metropolitan police,
Justice for Cleaners SOAS, Meru verdadero, Extra Media,
Express News, y Aculco radio.
El objetivo del congreso es compartir conocimiento y
experiencias en los avances sobre el manejo y apoyo a la salud
mental de los emigrantes. Se tocarán temas como el estrés y los
factores sociales afectando a los inmigrantes, el Síndrome de
Ulises, el diagnóstico y la intervención psicosocial en el marco
inmigratorio, experiencias de diversas comunidades, así como
también estrategias de apoyo para los y las inmigrantes.
La Red Atenea es un grupo de organizaciones y profesionales de
la salud, que unen su trabajo investigador comunitario e
informativo para promover un acercamiento más efectivo a la
salud mental de las comunidades emigrantes. Dicha red cuenta
actualmente con miembros de más de 18 países y realizó su
último congreso en el año 2014, en la Universidad de Comillas
en Madrid.
La inscripción a este congreso es abierta y gratuita, no sólo a
profesionales de la salud emocional, trabajadores y
trabajadoras comunitarias, sino también a miembros de las
distintas comunidades migrantes y locales del Reino Unido.
Debido a su carácter internacional, este congreso se
desarrollará en inglés, aunque se contará con apoyo de
