l X-Type pasará a la historia de Jaguar como el modelo más
‘transgresor’ de la historia de la marca. Fue el primer Jaguar
que montó un motor Diesel y también ha sido el primer familiar de esta marca de estilo tan tradicional. Pero lo realmente importante de este modelo es la combinación de innovación y tradición, dos
conceptos que los diseñadores de Jaguar han sabido fusionar a la perfección. A pesar de su carrocería con cinco puertas, y aunque no lleva
los emblemas del felino ni ninguna otra identificación, el X-Type
Wagon es fácilmente reconocible como un Jaguar. Los cuatro faros
redondos, la parrilla cromada, la silueta afilada y un innegable toque
de distinción lo hacen inconfundible. En el puesto de conducción sólo
hace falta mirar el salpicadero, formado por una plancha de madera
que lo recorre de lado a lado y en la que se integran la instrumentación y los mandos de control. La consola central se prolonga desde el
salpicadero hasta el apoyabrazos situado entre los asientos delanteros,
y la combinación de materiales y tonalidades crea un efecto de sofisticación y elegancia que se ha mantenido desde hace décadas en todos
los modelos de la marca. Pero este estilo tradicional esconde todas las
últimas tecnologías para hacer la vida en el interior del X-Type mucho

which ‘broke all the rules’. It was the first Jaguar to use a

manufacturer with a style steeped in tradition. However, the most
important thing about this model is the combination of innovation
and tradition, two concepts which the Jaguar designers have
combined to perfection. In spite of its 5-door bodywork and the
lack of big cat emblems or any other identification, the X-Type
Wagon is easily recognisable as a Jaguar. Its four round headlights,
the chrome radiator grille, the sleek lines and an undeniable touch
of distinction make it unmistakable. In the driver’s seat, one only
has to look at the dashboard, formed by a wooden panel which runs
from one side to the other and which houses the instruments and
the controls. The central console extends from the dashboard to the
armrest between the front seats, and the combination of materials
and tones creates an effect of sophistication and elegance which
have been a feature of all Jaguar models for decades. However,
