Chef Christopher Carpentier
Christopher Carpentier is one of Chile’s most acknowledged and successful chefs, with a
reputation built on being a self-professed perfectionist in his craft.
At just 18 years of age, Chris flew to the USA to begin his studies in the culinary arts.
While studying, he worked as a waiter and in the kitchen of such prominent chefs as Jean
Louis Palladin, Tino Buggio and Michel Richard.
After graduating Chris Carpentier returned to Chile to work with his mentor, Coco
Pacheco. At his job Chris did everything from cleaning and washing to peeling and
cutting, before moving on to work at the Costa Real Hotel. Soon after, Chris opened Agua
restaurant in Santiago, acknowledged as one of the city’s finest and one of Conde Nast
Traveler Magazine Top 50 Worldwide Restaurants in 2002. During this time Chef
Carpentier developed and fine-tuned his now trademark cooking style, which revolves
around local ingredients and fresh produce prepared according to international methods
and techniques; especially in the French, Italian and notably Oriental cuisine.
As the chef of popular National Television shows and with impressive awards including top
prizes at the American Chef Cup (seafood category, Brazil, 1999) and Chef de Chefs
recognitions (Chile, 2001 and 2003) Chef Chris Carpentier has become a household
celebrity in Chile.
His latest ventures include running his new urban restaurant “C”, and the opening of two
new restaurants, Kitchen Republic, a little bistrot, and Maldito Chef, a sandwich service.
