Hispanos at Hartford Seminary, is Professor of New Testament
at New York Theological Seminary.

Dr. Doris García-Mayol is a commissioned missionary for the
American Baptist Church and has been working in the area
of education in Mexico and Central America since 1990. From
2004 until the present she has served as Academic Coordinator
and Professor of Old Testament at the Mayan Intercultural Center
in Chiapas, Mexico.

Dr. María Pilar Aquino is Professor at the University of San Diego
Theology and Religious Studies Department since 1993. She

Dr. Daniel Ramírez is Assistant Professor in the Program in American
Culture (Latina/o Studies) and the Department of History, University
of Michigan. He has a B.A. from Yale College, an M.A. in Religion and a
Ph.D. in American Religious History from Duke University.

• Dr. Rubén Rosario-Rodríguez
Dr. Rubén Rosario-Rodríguez is Associate Professor in the Department
of Theological Studies at St. Louis University. His book Racism and
God-Talk: A Latino/a Perspective (NYU Press, 2008) was the winner of
the 2011 Alpha Sigma Nu Book Award in Theology.

In English) • Dr. Cláudio Carvalhaes
Dr. Cláudio Carvalhaes is Associate Professor of Worship and Liturgy at
Lutheran Theological Seminary of Philadelphia. A native of Brazil, he has
an M.A. from Methodist University’s Ecumenical Institute of the Graduate
School of Religion in São Paulo and a Ph.D. from Union Theological
Seminary in NYC. Dr. Carvalhaes taught the newly launched “Worship
Colloquy” in the 2013 HSP and will focus on preaching for the 2014
session.

• Dra. Theresa Torres
Dra. Theresa Torres is Assistant Professor of Department of Sociology.
Studied at Catholic University of America. She is the author of The Paradox
of Latina Religious Leadership in the Catholic Church: Las Guadalupanas
de Kansas City.
Dr. Eduardo Mendieta is a native of Colombia and was raised i
n the United States. He has received degrees from Rutgers
University, Union Theological Seminary (NYC), and his Ph.D. from
the New School. He also studied in Germany, at the Goethe
University in Frankfurt am Main, where he worked with Jürgen
Habermas.
