LookUs Drama Group started its acting activity no less than 12 years
ago. At that time we were only a group of students and their teacher
who decided to meet at weekends to practise some English by preparing some short sketches.
PLOT: Act I
Roxie Hart (Merchy González) and her husband Amos (Chema Pellicer)
rush to the Language school of La Laguna in order to see the premiere
of the new Lookus production. They both dream of becoming the new
stars of the stage. However, they are in to discover that being a star in
LookUs is not easy: they need to study English really hard and a little
bit of money too. The latter they can manage a way or another but the
former can only be achieved with the help of the great Billy Flynn
(César Niebla)
PLOT: Act II
Roxie Hart will not have it easy to be the new star of the stage. In order
to get a leading role, she would have to pass the always difficult Certification Exams and something else which is even worse .She will have to
fight Vema Kelly (Sonia Peirona) the etarnal LookUs protagonist who
is, by no means, eager to step backwards.
Who will have the upper hand this time and be the new great star of
LookUs. Will Roxie Hart be able to pass Certification exams and defeat
Velma Kelly on the stage?

As time went by, we decided to start presenting something a bit more
difficult and challenging: the adaptation of successful musicals. We
opted for famous musicals of all times, and thus we represented
Grease, My Fair Lady, The Sound of Music, Mamma Mia!, The Phantom
of the Opera, The Lion King or Singin´in the Rain, among others.
We have toured the islands giving performances of these musicals in
Escuelas Oficiales de Idiomas such as the ones in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Puerto de la Cruz, La Orotava, Icod de los Vinos or even Las Palmas
de Gran Canaria and in theatres such as La Laboral in La Laguna or
Auditorio Teobaldo Power in La Orotava.
As you can see, we have been growing and this year we have decided
to give one more step forward: we have decided to adapt a Broadway
classic: Chicago, a musical which was also shown in London´s West
End with great success.
The challenge has been difficult, but we have managed to get here and
present something on which we have worked really hard and with
great enthusiasm.
Rehearsals started in September 2015, and therefore, we have been
working hard for six months trying to organise aspects such as pronunciation, diction, costume design, set decoration, music, lightning,
stage direction, choreography, etc…
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the members of this
Lookus Drama Group for their dedication and sense of humour. Taking
into account that all of them either study or work, their dedication to
this project is worth praising. Thank you so much!
Finally, I would like to thank all of you for being here today and for
making this project come true. I hope you enjoy the show.
