III CONCURSO FYM ITALCEMENTI
PREMIO AL MEJOR PROYECTO FIN DE CARRERA CON EMPLEO DE HORMIGÓN
La Escuela de Arquitectura de la Universidad de Navarra,
junto con el grupo FYM Italcementi, promueve este concurso
internacional en el que se premia el Proyecto Fin de Carrera
que, por su calidad, innovación, originalidad o creatividad,
resalte la utilización del hormigón dentro de un proyecto
arquitectónico.

COmPROmISO DeL beNeFICIARIO
Se concederá un premio al Proyecto Fin de Carrera (en
adelante, PFC) que el jurado considere de mayor calidad que
se haya servido del hormigón como componente importante de
su diseño.
toda la documentación deberá presentarse bajo un lema
compuesto por una combinación de seis caracteres de letras o
números. No debe figurar el nombre del participante ni el del
país y escuela a los que pertenece.
La documentación debe enviarse antes del 4 de abril de
2014 a la siguiente dirección:
el premio consiste en la concesión de una beca de estudios
que cubra el coste de la matrícula en el Master en Diseño
Arquitectónico (mDA) (www.unav.es/master/diseno-arquitectonico/), que se imparte en la escuela de Arquitectura de la
Universidad de Navarra.
Además, deberá adjuntarse la siguiente documentación:
el beneficiario de la beca FYm-Italcementi se compromete a
redactar en cada uno de los tres proyectos que debe realizar
durante el desarrollo del mDA (uno por cuatrimestre) un informe
acerca de las razones y ventajas que podría reportar el empleo
de hormigones o morteros, ya sea de vertido in situ o
prefabricados, si es que hiciera uso de ellos en su proyecto.
PARtICIPANteS
Dos paneles A1 montados en cartón pluma (vertical) en los que
se incluyan:
Ficha del concurso en sobre cerrado. La ficha incluye el lema
del proyecto, autor/a, correo electrónico, dirección postal del
autor/a, teléfono de contacto, fecha de la defensa/entrega del
PFC, calificación obtenida y datos del tutor/a o director/a y
el ganador deberá cumplir los requisitos de admisión del mDA. Universidad. Dentro de este sobre, además, debe incluirse un
CD que recoja los paneles en formato PDF.
Podrán participar aquellas personas que hayan presentado su
PFC en cualquier escuela de Arquitectura reconocida oficialmente en el país de origen entre septiembre de 2012 y
septiembre de 2013. excepcionalmente, se podrán presentar
al concurso aquellos proyectos que estén aún pendientes de
calificación siempre que adjunten una carta del director
mostrando su conformidad.
No pueden presentarse al concurso los PFC que hayan sido
presentados en anteriores ediciones.
Los proyectos serán presentados en español o inglés.
INSCRIPCIóN

Resumen del proyecto de 500 palabras aproximadamente
Descripción de la implicación del hormigón en el desarrollo
del proyecto
Fecha de entrega del PFC
breve justificación (entre 3.000 y 6.000 caracteres) de las
razones o ventajas que ha encontrado en el empleo del
hormigón como material básico para la resolución del PFC.
Las motivaciones pueden ser de índole estética, estructural,
económica, paisajística, energética, o una combinación de
varias de ellas. el informe llevará por título: “Mis razones para
el empleo del hormigon”.
Para poder presentarse al concurso es necesaria la inscripción Se admite la presentación de planos, fotografías, infografías y
previa, que se realiza a través de la página web del concurso: textos, así como cualquier otra técnica de representación que

maquetas salvo su representación en paneles.
La formalización de la inscripción supone la aceptación de las
bases del concurso.
Sólo se permite la inscripción a título individual.

FALLO DeL jURADO
Un jurado compuesto por dos profesores de la escuela de
Arquitectura de la Universidad de Navarra, representantes de
Italcementi y otros dos arquitectos de prestigio se reunirá en abril
de 2014 para analizar las propuestas presentadas y
fallar el premio.
el premio podrá declararse desierto si el jurado lo considerase
oportuno.
tRAbAjOS PReSeNtADOS
Los trabajos presentados no serán devueltos.
La documentación relativa a los PFC presentados quedará en
poder de la escuela de Arquitectura y de FYm Italcementi, que
podrán hacer uso libre de ésta en sus publicaciones, elementos
de comunicación o en las acciones de difusión que estimen
oportunas.
en el caso de que no haga uso de hormigones o morteros, el
informe se referirá a las partes de su proyecto que podrían
llevarse a cabo con estos productos como alternativa a la
solución por él adoptada, entendiéndolo como una imposición del
‘supuesto cliente’ a la que tuviera que responder adecuadamente.
en cualquiera de los dos casos, el trabajo deberá hacer expresa
mención del posible empleo de algún producto específico de la
marca FYm-Italcementi, como, por ejemplo, hormigón
autolimpiable, morteros, elementos prefabricados, etc.
el informe no deberá exceder los 12.000 caracteres y podrá ir
acompañado de información gráfica complementaria. Se
entregará en el mes siguiente al término de cada cuatrimestre a
la secretaría del mDA, que lo remitirá a la firma FYm-Italcementi.

the school of Architecture at the University of Navarra,
in conjunction with the FYM Italcementi group, hosts this
international competition to award a prize for the best Final
Year Project whose standard of quality, innovation, originality
and creativity foregrounds the use of concrete as part of an
architectural project.

the prize is awarded for the Final Year Project (FYP) that the
jury regards as having reached the highest standard of quality
in the use of concrete as a key element in the architectural
design.
All the documentation is to be submitted under a single sixcharacter code-heading made up of letters or numbers. No
indication of the name of the contestant, the country of origin
or the School of Architecture to which they belong should be
included in the submission.
the documentation is to be submitted before 4th April 2014 to
the following address:
the scholarship holder is committed to writing in each of the
three projects to be carried out during the master’s Degree in
Architectural Design (one per semester) a report on the
reasons and advantages that could accrue from the use of
concrete or mortar, in situ or precast.
the award comprises a scholarship for the Master’s Degree in
Architectural Design (www.unav.es/master/diseno-arquitectonico)
offered by the School of Architecture at the University of
Navarra.
the following documentation is to be included in the
submission:
the award-winner must meet the entry requirements for the
master’s Degree in Architectural Design program.
PARtICIPANtS
Submissions are welcome from individuals who presented their
FYP at any officially recognized School of Architecture in their
home-country between September 2012 and September 2013.
In exceptional cases, projects that have not yet been graded
may be submitted, provided that a letter of approval from the
project director is enclosed with the submission.
Projects submitted for previous editions of the competition
cannot be resubmitted.
Projects are to be submitted in Spanish or english.

to enter the competition, contestants must register in advance

Registration is understood to mean acceptance of the terms
and conditions of the competition.
Only individual registration is permitted.
Competition entry form in a sealed envelope. the form lists
the submission code, author’s name, e-mail address, postal
address, contact telephone number, date of FYP
submission/presentation, the grade obtained, and details
of the project director or supervisor and the home-university.
A CD containing the entry panels in .pdf format should also
be enclosed in the sealed envelope.

jURY DeLIbeRAtIONS
A jury comprising two professors of the School of Architecture
at the University of Navarra, representatives of FYm
Italcementi, along with two other renowned architects, will meet in
April 2014 to assess the submissions and decide on the winner.
the jury reserves the right not to award the prize.
A 500-word (approx..) summary of the project
A description of the role of concrete in the project’s
development
Delivery date of the FYP
justification (between 3.000 and 6.000 characters) giving the
reasons or advantages for using concrete as basic material for
the resolution of the project. these reasons may be aesthetic,
structural, economic, landscape, natural energy, or a
combination of several of them. this report is titled: “My
reasons for the use of concrete”.
Plans, photographs, infographics and texts may be submitted,
along with any form of representation technique that
contestants may deem appropriate. models cannot be
submitted, although they may be depicted on the panels.
SUbmISSIONS
the projects submitted will not be returned.
the FYP documentation will remain in the possession of the
School of Architecture at the University of Navarra and FYm
Italcementi, which may make free use of it for the purposes of
publication or whatever other forms of communication they
deem appropriate.
In case the scholarship holder do not use concrete or mortar,
the report will refer to the parts of the project that could be
undertaken with these products as an alternative to the solution
he adopted, understood as an imposition of 'simulated client' to
which has to respond appropriately.
In either case, the work must mention the possibility of using a
a specific product of FYm-Italcementi, for example,
self-cleaning concrete, mortars, precast, etc.
the report should not exceed 12.000 characters, and may be
accompanied by additional graphical information. the report
will be given in the following month at the end of each quarter
to the Administration of the master’s degree, which will forward
it to the firm FYm-Italcementi.
