El Cardenal vuelve al Alcázar
[Centuries later. The Cardinal returns to the Alcázar]

En 1772, llega a la sede de Toledo el Cardenal Lorenzana, lo que propició la introducción en la zona de las ideas de la
Ilustración. Lorenzana propuso al entonces rey, Carlos III darle un uso útil al Alcázar que en aquel momento estaba
desocupado. La propuesta consistía en convertirlo en Real Casa de Caridad. El rey aceptó y Lorenzana recogió en
el Alcázar a cerca de 700 pobres a los cuales puso a aprender los oficios vinculados a los trabajos en seda, lino y lana,
evitando así que anduviesen mendigando por las calles. Así que las salas del magno edificio se llenaron de telares. Las
obras para adaptar el Alcázar a este nuevo uso le fueron encargadas al arquitecto Ventura Rodríguez.
Pues bien, varios siglos después, aunque de forma simbólica, el Cardenal regresa al Alcázar de la mano de la Hacienda
que lleva su nombre. La Hacienda del Cardenal se ha hecho cargo de la cafetería y el restaurante del Alcázar que, en la
actualidad es la sede del museo del Ejército. Algunas de sus salas y el Patio de Armas serán lugares inmejorables para
la celebración de eventos.
Está prevista también, en temporada, la instalación de una terraza, con espectaculares vistas al Tajo, en la fachada
de Covarrubias.

Pues bien, otra de las listas que Forbes publica es la de los 10 restaurantes más clásicos
del mundo, entre los cuales, en esta ocasión,
Botín ha tenido el honor de aparecer nada menos que en el tercer lugar, tras el Club 21 de
Nueva York, que ocupa el segundo puesto, y el
Simpsons-in the-Strand de Londres que encabeza la lista.

Según el comentario que acompaña a la lista, una visita a la capital de España no estaría completa sin probar la deliciosa comida
de Botín, además de disfrutar de un sitio histórico.

façade.

Forbes, the North American publication, is famous worldwide for annually announcing, among others, the list of the richest men and
women in the world.This is a publication founded in 1917 by B.C. Forbes and specialising in the world of business and finance.
Another of the lists published by Forbes is that of the 10 most classic restaurants in the world, among which, on this occasion, Botín has had
the honour of appearing in no less than third place, after NewYork’s Club 21, which occupies second place, and London’s Simpsons-in theStrand, which heads the list.

es mundialmente famosa por dar a conocer,
anualmente, la lista, entre otras, de los hombres más ricos del mundo. Se trata de una publicación fundada, en 1917, por B.C. Forbes,
especializada en el mundo de los negocios
y las finanzas.
In 1772 Cardinal Lorenzana came to the Toledo see, something
that propitiated the introduction in the area of the ideas of the
Enlightenment. Lorenzana submitted a proposal to the then king,
Carlos III, to put the Alcázar to profitable use, as the building
was unoccupied at the time.The proposal consisted of converting it
into the Royal House of Charity.The king accepted and Lorenzana
gathered in the Alcázar nearly 700 poor, whom he set to learning
the crafts connected to silk, linen and wool working, thus enabling
them to cease begging in the streets. The halls of the magnificent
building were thus filled with looms.The conversion works to adapt
the Alcázar to this new use were entrusted to the architect Ventura
Rodríguez.

Más de 260.000 empleos y la previsión de la visita de 11
millones de turistas son cifras que, por lo menos, ilusionan
en un momento tan difícil como el que está viviendo la economía española. Eso es lo que los expertos indican que generará el proyecto de la construcción de Eurovegas en una
localidad madrileña que todavía está por determinar. Alcorcón, Paracuellos o Valdecarros son las posibles ubicaciones.
Está previsto que las obras comiencen el el 2016 y finalicen el 2022. El complejo contará con 12 resorts, 6 casinos,
9 teatros, 3 campos de golf y un auditorio con 15.000 localidades, además de tiendas, restaurantes, etc.
Los responsables de Eurovegas han resaltado la energía y el
entusiasmo demostrados por los responsables de la Comunidad de Madrid para conseguir que el macroproyecto se ubicase en nuestra región, ganando la partida a la otra candidata:
Barcelona.

EL Palacio de los Deportes de la Comunidad de Madrid es el lugar elegido por Joan Manuel Serrat y Joaquín Sabina
para presentar en Madrid su último trabajo conjunto. “La Orquesta del Titanic” (2012). El concierto forma parte de la gira que
lleva por nombre “Dos pájaros contraatacan”.
Que se puede añadir que no se haya dicho ya de estos dos poetas de la música española. Serrat, a sus 67 años, lo ha conseguido todo en el mundo de la música, a lo largo de una carrera marcada por el éxito, pero también por la humildad y el trabajo.
Recientemente volvió a subirse a los escenarios para homenajear al poeta Miguel Hernández.
En cuanto a Sabina, allá donde va llena los recintos en los que actúa, tanto dentro como fuera de España. De su último trabajo
“Vinagre y Rosas” ha sonado mucho el sencillo “Tiramisu de limón” que interpreta a dúo con el grupo Pereza (Ruben y Leiva).
Así que sus fans de Madrid ya saben, tienen una cita con ellos los días 19 y 20 de septiembre en el Palacio de los Deportes.
Una ocasión única para disfrutar de el talento de estas dos leyendas de la música española, antes de que salten el charco y se
marchen, por un tiempo, a deleitar con su música al público hispanoamericano.
The Palacio de los Deportes of the Madrid Community is the venue chosen by Joan Manuel Serrat and Joaquín Sabina to present
their latest joint work in Madrid,“The Titanic Orchestra” (2012).The concert forms part of the “Two Birds Counterattacking” tour.
There is not much left to say about these two poets of Spanish music. Serrat, at the age of 67, has achieved everything in the field of music in
a career marked by success but also by humility and hard work. He recently returned to the stage to pay tribute to the poet Miguel Hernández.
As for Sabina, wherever he goes he fills up the venues where he performs, both inside and outside Spain. Of his latest work “Vinegar and Roses”,
the single “Lemon Tiramisu”, performed in a duet with the group Pereza (Ruben and Leiva), has been very popular on the sound waves.
Their Madrid fans have an appointment with them on 19 and 20 September at the Palacio de los Deportes. A unique occasion to enjoy the talent
of these two legends of Spanish music before they cross the pond and set off for a time to delight the Latin American public with their music.
