Saint John the Evangelist
“Christ is Risen. Alleluia! He has turned all our
sunsets into dawns! Alleluia!”
... A hearty welcome to all who gather with us on
this joyful Easter day. May this Easter joy be ever
with you and your families, and in a special way
with the many just received into the Church!
... We especially congratulate Sarah Dawson,
Amanda Foster, Jessie Gonzalez, Christopher Indudhara, Byron King, Kimberly Lockard, Yunnie Luke,
Patricia Murphy and Sandi Wenglikowski, from our
RCIA and youth, all of whom were received into
the Church at our Easter Vigil! You are welcome!
... The Easter season extends for fifty days to the
celebration of Pentecost on May 19. It is all celebrated as one ‘great Sunday’!
... Next Sunday (7), the Second Sunday of Easter, is
observed as Divine Mercy Sunday. A plenary indulgence (complete forgiveness of sins and punishment) is granted to the faithful who celebrate the
Sacrament of Reconciliation, participate in the
Eucharist, and pray for the intentions of our Holy
Father. These are all met by a recent Reconciliation, and by participating in Mass this coming Sunday (7)! Mercy!
… Our neighbors at Saint Elizabeth Seton, 6628
Santa Isabel Street, Carlsbad, have a special celebration for Divine Mercy Sunday (7), from 2:30pm
to 4:30pm. All are welcome.
… Our Holy Name Fish Fry’s in Lent served 1,343
delicious dinners, thanks to all the volunteers! An
overall profit of $3,671.61 was realized, and
$1,975.00 was given in Bingo prizes! And there
was tons of fun!
... Join us this Saturday (6) from 7:00am to
2:00pm in the Saint John School Parking Lot for
our Altar Society Annual Tailgate Swap Meet. For
more info, please call Arlene at 760 436-8012 or
Dottie at 760 436-4452.
... Saint Thomas More, at 1450 South Melrose
Drive, Oceanside is hosting the Ecumenical Spring
Sing at 4:00pm, on Saturday (14). Please bring a
donation of a canned good. All are welcome.
... Be sure to make a pledge to our Annual Catholic
Appeal which assists the extensive ministry of our
Diocese. To date, 178 families have responded.
... Plans for our parish Fiesta de las Flores 2013,
August 17 - 18, are getting under way! Come along
to the Fiesta Planning Meeting on Tuesday (9) at
7:00pm, in the Encinitas Room.
March 31, 2013
… Congratulations to Nicole and Mike Steele on
the birth of their third child, Katherine (Kate)
June, on Tuesday (19), a little sister to Lauren and
Nathan. Nicole is coordinator of our Junior High
Faithways experience.
... Our major fundraiser in support of our great
Saint John School is on Saturday (20)! It’s a night
for the entire parish to celebrate! Our parents will
host us to a ‘Totally Awesome 80’s’ Dinner Auction, at the Hilton, Carlsbad, at $85.00 a person.
Contact [email protected] for donor or ticket
info or stop by the Parish Office for a flier!
... Last weekend (24), $19,242.50 was contributed
in support of our parish ministry, with 541 families
using parish envelopes. A further $3,661.00 was
contributed online. Thank you!
… If you, or your family, have graduated from
Saint John School, please register as an alumni at
www.saintjohnnschool.com. Submissions will be
published in the school newsletter. We are happy
to share the family news, awards and accolades of
our former students!
... Thanks to their Pancake Breakfasts, and the
generosity of parishioners, our youth have raised
$8,972.00 towards their ‘Build a House for a needy
family in Tijuana’ project. Awesome!
... Have you considered ‘Online Giving’? No more
checks and envelopes! Straight from your bank to
ours! Just go to the website, click on ‘Online Giving’, and away you go! It’s safe, secure and easy!
... Take time to check-out our parish website at

... Our Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament resumes
on Monday (1), after the 8:00am Mass, and continues 24 hours a day, seven days a week, except for
Sundays from 7:00am to 6:00pm. Come along and
spend some quiet time with the Lord!
... Our Holy Name Society meets on Monday (1),

ENERGÍA PASCUAL
La mañana de Pascua,
cuando los discípulos
vieron la evidencia de la
Resurrección, primero no
entendieron. Juan reporta
primeros cristianos.
hoy? ¿Permitiendo que la asombrosa noticia
de la resurrección nos conmueva? ¿Nos llame a actuar? ¿A profundizar nuestra fe? ¿A
