"If your brother sins against you, go and tell
him his fault between you and him alone."
Gossip has become a modern pastime. We
publish magazines with the latest celebrity
chatter, and create websites and blogs that reverberate with
"opinions" about public and private personalities alike. Many
people utilize social media to rant about the behavior of others,
and the good old-fashioned coffee break still provides ample
opportunity to reveal the offenses we have suffered or to dish
out dirt about people who aren't present.
Although it can take many forms, at its core, gossip is about
tarnishing people's reputations without giving them a chance to
defend themselves. Today, Jesus recommends a different
approach. He encourages us to deal directly with people, which
in effect means to treat them with dignity and respect. Rather
than making preconceived judgments about another's behavior,
Jesus asks us to talk to the person involved ... first. Instead of
running around venting our frustrations elsewhere, or even
"tattling" on someone who has legitimately wronged us, we are
called to address our concern head-on, with charity and
compassion.
As Jesus suggests, "If he listens to you, you have won over your
brother." In other words, by speaking directly to those who have
offended us, we actually have the chance to resolve the situation
before it grows out of proportion. Of course this doesn't always
work; that's why Jesus mentions the other steps to take if
necessary. But we will be the ones to blame for the continuation
of the conflict unless we follow the Lord's advice and give peace
a chance.

MINISTRY RETREAT - MARK YOUR CALENDAR
You are invited to attend the Ministry Retreat on Sunday,
September 28, 2014, from 12:00 noon to 4:00 p.m. in the parish
hall. Lunch will be provided. This retreat is for all people
involved in a ministry or anyone wishing to join a ministry. Please

TAIZÉ RETURNS TO ALL SAINTS
Please join us for a Taizé Prayer Service, here at All Saints, on
Tuesday, September 30, 2014, at 7:00 p.m. Taizé prayer
incorporates meditative singing with Biblical readings, prayer
around the cross, and a period of silence, a unique moment for
meeting with God.
MUSIC CLASS
Our music class on breathing, projecting and singing will continue
on Tuesdays, beginning September 9, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., in
the parish hall.
SECOND COLLECTION
The second collection for our Building Fund will be on the second
weekend of the month, September 13 and 14, 2014. Thank you
very much for supporting our Building Fund.
FELLOWSHIP WEEKEND
Please join us for our monthly fellowship weekend on September
13 and 14, 2014. You are welcomed to bring an item to share with
others.
CRIMINAL JUSTICE MINISTRY
The state of Texas has scheduled the first of two executions this
Wednesday, September 10. Willie Trottie is scheduled to die for
the murders of Barbara and Titus Canada. Please join us from 6:00
to 6:30 p.m. We will give witness to the value of all life as we
offer prayer, song, and meditation for those on the death rows of
this nation, the victims of violence and the families of all. Please
pray for an end to the death penalty. Prayer vigils are held at St.
Patrick's Cathedral Blessed Sacrament Chapel, and at Our Lady of
Guadalupe Parish chapel.
8TH ANNUAL FOUNDATION FAITH DINNER
The Foundation for the Diocese of El Paso 8th Annual Foundation
of Faith Dinner will be held on Thursday, September 18 at the
Camino Real Hotel from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m., with keynote speaker,
Immaculée Ilibagiza, Tickets are $100/person.

MINISTERIO DE JUSTICIA CRIMINAL

miércoles, 10 de septiembre. Willie Trottie está programado para morir
por los asesinatos de Barbara y Titus Canadá. Por favor acompáñenos de
6:00 a 6:30 p.m. Daremos testimonio del valor de toda la vida ofreciendo
oración, canción y meditación para aquellos en el corredor de la muerte de

"No olvidéis esto: el Señor nunca se cansa de
perdonar... ¿Habéis pensado en la paciencia de
Dios, la paciencia que tiene con cada uno?" El
Papa Francisco se lo decía a las cerca de
200.000 personas que asistieron al primer
ángelus con el nuevo Papa. Es muy fácil perderse, desaparecer
ante la vista de nuestros padres, hermanos, hermanas, amigos y
compañeros de escuela y trabajo. Hay una tentación muy fuerte
de irnos al sentirnos heridos por los demás. ¡Pedir perdón, yo,
eso nunca! La Carta a los Romanos nos da consejos sobre cómo
vivir nuestra vida cristiana en general. "Quien ama a su prójimo
no le causa daño a nadie. Así pues, cumplir perfectamente la ley
consisten en amar" (Rom 13, 10). Es decir, la persona que ama
sabe perdonar siempre.
Y el Papa Francisco nos lo aclara en el Ángelus de su primer
domingo de pontificado. "Dios nunca se cansa de perdonar". Y
Jesús en el Evangelio de hoy nos lo clarifica de otra manera.
Cada uno somos responsables de la felicidad de la otra persona,
somos guardianes unos de otros. Somos responsables de no
romper la comunión con Dios, familia y comunidad. En los
conflictos es importante el diálogo con su respectivo proceso de
sanación. Recordando siempre las palabras de Jesús. "Donde dos
o tres se reúnen en mi nombre, ahí estoy yo en medio de ellos".
¿Qué estamos dispuestos a hacer para escuchar y perdonar a los
que hemos y nos han ofendido? ¿Qué particularmente me dice el
Evangelio que debo cambiar? Ya no vale la pregunta de Caín:
¿Soy acaso el guardián de mi hermano? (Gn 4, 9).
