Our sincere thanks for your generosity during the 2014 Annual Catholic Appeal. Your gifts and pledges will have a lasting impact on or ability to serve the People of God here in Brooklyn and Queens. As of August 26th our parish had 173 pledges for a total of $59,583 which represents 110.3% of our parish goal ($53,901). Of this amount, $53,321 has already been paid. This means that about 17% of our registered parish families have already pledged almost 100% of our parish goal! Your generosity is crucial to providing vital pastoral, charitable and educational ministries throughout the Diocese and all gifts, great or small, help us to do God’s work. We thank ALL who have pledged so far and urge every family to make an effort to support the Appeal. PLEASE REMEMBER THAT ALL MONIES RECEIVED OVER THE GOAL WILL BE RETURNED TO THE PARISH AND WILL ASSIST US IN MEETING OUR MANY EXPENSES. WE STILL NEED 70 ADDITONAL PLEDGES TO EQUAL LAST YEAR’S TOTAL OF 242. PLEASE HELP US! May God bless each one of us for responding to this call with so much enthusiasm and generosity! Edward J. Breen. Msgr. Breen was ordained in 1958 and was a dedicated teacher in the Diocesan Minor Seminary System, both in Brooklyn and in Douglaston, Queens. Among his many students were Msgr. Brennan, Father Frawley and myself. In early 1987. Msgr. Breen assumed the pastorate of Our Lady of Fatima, succeeding the beloved Msgr. John Rudden. He truly loved this parish and its parishioners, and he served with great priestly dedication and zeal. He retired as Pastor in 2004 and was named Pastor Emeritus. Even after his retirement Msgr. Breen continued to exercise his priestly ministry here. Several weeks ago he moved from the rectory to the Senior Priest Residence in Douglaston, a building he had lived in for 20 years. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. His Funeral Mass was celebrated here on Saturday, September 13th by Bishop DiMarzio and many priests. It is our sincere prayer that he has already heard these words of our Divine Savior: “Well done, good and faithful servant!’ Please pray for the repose of his soul and for the consolation and peace of his dear sister, Irene. Msgr. Mons. Mahoney PLEASE SUPPORT OUR BULLETIN ADVERTISERS! SOCIETY OF ST.
