Lisa M. Hendey is the founder and editor of CatholicMom.com

Patheos. She hosts the Catholic Moments podcast and Catholic

Dr. Aldona Lingertat is the Director of the Master of Arts in
Ministry Program at the Theological Institute of St. John’s Seminary, Boston, MA. She teaches courses in Adult Faith Formation,
Transformative Learning, New Evangelization and the Call to
Holiness. Her doctorate is from Boston College in Theology
and Education. She has been a religious educator for many years
working with all age groups.

The biblical passage “our hearts were burning” reflects the beauty
of recognizing Christ among us. How do we help light up the
hearts of our parishioners? The faith formation needs of the adults
in our parish will be discussed in this workshop using insights
from research in adult education and adult development.
Survival Tactics for Catechetical Leaders C001
“The ecclesial community, while always having a universal dimension, finds its most immediate and visible expression in the parish.
It is there that the Church is seen locally. In a certain sense it
is the Church living in the midst of the homes of her sons and
daughters” (Christifideles Lalci, 26). The catechetical leader is the
person in the trenches working “in the midst of the homes” of the
faith community. This workshop will look at issues and challenges,
as well as ways to keep a balance and perspective while responding
to the call to bring the faith alive to the sons and daughters of
the Church.

How do we teach the Universal Call to Holiness? How would
we encourage growth in holiness in our classes? This workshop
reflects on how the catechetical experience can stifle or encourage
our students to bring their faith into their lives.

Matt Cato is the Director of the Office of Life, Justice and Peace
where he represents Archbishop Sample on matters of Catholic
social teaching and supervises the programs of the office: the
Catholic Campaign for Human Development, JustFaith, Parish
Social Ministry (Respect Life and Peace and Justice Ministries),
and Faithful Citizenship.
Finding Joy as Witnesses through Social Ministry A007
The parish is a place that gives living witness to God’s kingdom.
It is also a living example of Jesus’ radical embrace of people
whom other groups shun. Parishes are intended to be places of
inordinate hospitality to the poor and vulnerable who dwell
within the parish’s boundaries. Parishes are to embrace the unwed
mother and the newly released prisoner. It is to be home to the
undocumented worker, the migrant, the visitor, and the stranger.
Thomas F. Connolly
Tom Connolly is the Associate Director for the US Environmental
Protection Agency in Corvallis, Oregon; an Oblate of St. Benedict;
member of the Queen of Peace Parish’s Pastoral Advisory council
and Men’s Ministry Team. In addition, Tom served in the US Air
Force for 22 years holding several leadership and training positions
and received over 1000 hours of formal certified and accredited
training in leadership and management in addition to earning a
BS in Management and an MBA.

This brief lecture focuses on the sources and principles of leadership
revealed by the Holy Trinity and how all Christians can exercise
leadership behaviors regardless of formal roles or management
authority. Participants should take away a basic understanding
of how God wants us to do His work through the application
of leadership.
Todd Cooper
Todd Cooper holds an MA in Theology from Mt. Angel Seminary
and an STB (Bachelor of Sacred Theology) from the Pontifical
Gregorian University in Rome. He also holds a Bachelor’s Degree
in Philosophy from Mt. Angel Seminary. He is the Special Assistant
to the Archbishop and has worked for the Archdiocese of Portland
for fifteen years. His passion for the Catholic faith inspires all that
he does.

Jason Kidd is the Director of Youth and Young Adult Ministries
at Our Lady of the Lake Parish. After a dozen years serving teens,
he still yearns to share the radical call of Jesus and help build His
Kingdom. He holds a BS in Electrical Engineering, a MA in
Theology from the University of Notre Dame, founded Rise UP
PDX Ministries, and is the current ringmaster of the Kidd Family
circus. Jason is married to his high school sweetheart and they
have four amazing children.

Sarah Kresse is a Coordinator of Youth and Young Adult
Ministry at St. Joseph Parish in Salem, Oregon. Currently this is
her 8th year of ministry at St. Joseph. She attended the University
of Washington and was an active member of UW Newman
Community throughout college and served as Peer Minister
through UW’s Newman Center. She holds a BS in Wildlife
Science and Conservation of Wildland Resources and a Graduate
Certificate in Environmental Education.

Peggy Pandaleon
This seminar focuses on a new formation program from Word
On Fire (Fr. Robert Barron) that explores the Church’s mission to
evangelize within the challenges of a secular culture. The program is
built around Saint John Paul II’s call for “new ardor, new expressions
and new methods.”

Parents are the primary and most important teachers in most areas
of a child’s development, and faith formation is no exception. This
seminar explores how the parish can communicate the critical
nature of the parents’ role and also partner with them to strengthen
the faith of the whole household.
Lucas Pollice
Lucas Pollice, MTS, is the associate director of Symbolon Adult
Faith Formation and RCIA and a lecturer in catechesis at the
Augustine Institute in Denver. Prior to his work at the Augustine
Institute, Lucas was the Director of Catechesis for the Diocese
of Fort Worth, Texas. Lucas holds a Master of Theology Studies
degree from the Institute for Pastoral Theology at Ave Maria
University.

Heather Wycoff is currently the coordinator of Ministry Formation
at the Archdiocese of Portland. She has her Master of Arts in
Pastoral Ministry from the University of Portland and has worked
for the archdiocese for the last ten years. She loves to teach
theology and is active in her parish.

Peggy Pandaleon is the Director of Faith Formation Programs
at Word on Fire Catholic Ministries. She develops Fr. Robert
Barron’s content into formation programs and supports program
use among parishes, schools and other Catholic groups. She has a
business background in marketing in the consumer food industry
(e.g., General Mills, Kraft) and the founding of a consulting firm
to develop new products, as well as adult formation experience in
non-denominational and parish Bible studies.

y Vida y colabora tanto a la educacion de agentes de Pastoral que
trabajan con Jovenes, asi como a la formacion de jovenes. Ademas
ha participado en el curso de Comunidades Evangelizadoras en la
Arquidiocesis de Portland por mas de 10 años. Su esposa, sus dos

Olivia Cornejo
Olivia Cornejo es Directora del Instituto para el Ministerio
Pastoral de la Diócesis de Orange. Previo a esta posición Olivia
ocupó dos posiciones diocesanas: como Directora Asociada para la
Educación Religiosa y como Directora de la Oficina del Ministerio
Hispano. Anterior a esto fue Directora de Educación Religiosa y
Directora de Vida Familiar Parroquial labor que desempeño por
más de 15 años. Es casada y tiene tres hijos adultos y un nieto.

“Agradezco el hermoso ejemplo que me dan tantos cristianos
que ofrecen su vida y su tiempo con alegría. Este testimonio me
hace mucho bien y me sostiene en mi propio deseo de supercar
el egoísmo para entregarme más” dice el Papa Francisco. En este
taller nos centraremos en el sentido de la alegría, esa alegría que es
capaz de cambia un corazón, èsta no es la risa inconsciente sino la
alegria de estar en paz y poder transmitir a los demás el mensaje
de amor de Jesús.

Kim Folsom es la catequista para los niños con discapacidades
en la iglesia San Alejandro en Cornelius, Oregon. Antes de ser
enfermera en la Clínica Virginia García, ella trabajaba con adultos
y niños con discapacidades por más que 10 años.
Catecismo para los Niños con Discapacidades B007
Un proceso eficaz para el catecismo con niños con discapacidades
severas en la comunidad hispana. Este taller explorará la experiencia
de los participantes con niños con discapacidades en sus programas
de catecismo en sus parroquias y ofrecerá un modelo efectivo para
ayudarlos participar plenamente en la preparación sacramental y
la Iglesia.

P. Jorge Hernández
P. Jorge Hernández, OFM, es un sacerdote Franciscano, quien
actualmente desempeña su ministerio como párroco en la Iglesia
de San Juan Bautista en Milwaukie, OR. Originario de Guanajuato,
MX. Graduado de GTU en Berkeley, CA con su Maestría en
Divinidad y una segunda Maestría en Liturgia en la Universidad
de Notre Dame, IN. Fue ordenando en San Francisco, CA. En
1998, en donde siete años más tarde se convirtió en el párroco de
la Parroquia de San Bonifacio en San Francisco, CA. Ha servido en
la Arquidiócesis de Portland en los últimos 4 años en las parroquias
de la Ascensión y ahora en San Juan Bautista en Milwaukie.
La religiosidad popular como un instrumento válido

La piedad popular es un verdadero lugar para encontrar a Cristo
y para expresar la fe del pueblo cristiano en la Bienaventurada
Virgen María y los Santos. La nueva Evangelización reconoce el
valor de estas experiencias de fe y las anima como caminos para
crecer en la virtud cristiana.
Diácono Félix García Ha servido al Señor por más de 20 años en
la catequesis, la música ha sido una gran herramienta a lo largo de
su ministerio, en 2010 grabó su primer disco titulado “Jesús nos
da su amor” que contiene cantos de animación y alabanza, junto
con su esposa Denise y sus hijas forman ahora el ministerio Josué
24,15 sirviendo ahora en la predicación y la música en familia.

Música como Herramienta Catequética D010
La idea del taller es ayudar a los músicos y dirigentes de coros
a comprender la importancia de esta realidad así como a los
catequistas, para que echen mano de esta herramienta en su
labor formativa.
Jesús fue el Director de Formación Pastoral para el seminario
menor en el Arquidiócesis de Chicago de 2000 a 2006 y trabajo
en Honduras, C.A. como director general de Nuestros Pequeños
Hermanos Internacional.

José Gutiérrez nació y creció en El Salvador, Centroamérica.
Estudió teología pastoral en el seminario de Alegría bajo la
dirección de los hermanos y hermanas Maryknoll. José se traslado
a Los Angeles, CA a causa del conflicto armado de su país, ahí
residió con su familia por treinta años antes de mudarse a Portland
en el 2003, en Los Angeles continuo sus estudios en el Instituto
de Pastoral Hispana de al Arquidiócesis de Nuestra Señora de los
Angeles. El Diacono Jose se ha convertido en un solicitado orador
local y nacional, reconocido líder y organizador de la comunidad
latina en lo Estados Unidos. En 2007, el Arzobispo John G.
Vlazny lo ordenó Diácono Permanente de la Arquidiócesis.
Actualmente sirve en San Juan el Apóstol en Oregon City.

corazón grande y edificio pequeño en Cornelius, Oregon. Ha
trabajado en parroquias en los Esatdos Unidos y Mèxico durante
más de doce años y tiene la Maestria de Divinidad de la Escuela
Jesuita de Teología (Berkley, CA).

Asi empiezan muchas vocaciones de coordinadores, sobre todo en
parroquías con presencia hispana. Pero organizar y administrar todo
un programa es diferente que estar a cargo de un grupo. A veces
nos rebasan los aspectos prácticos, desde organizar las inscripciones
y planear calendarios hasta dirigir reuniones y realizar liturgias.
No te sientas solo/a. Vamos a compartir nuestras experiencias y
sugerir las mejores maneras para establecer un programa de catequesis
en su parroquia. Este taller está diseñado para coordinadores de
educación religiosa, ya sean voluntarios, de tiempo parcial o de
tiempo completo.

Hra. Gabriela Mendoza, MRF
Originaria del Estado de Mèxico, pertenezco desde hace 18 años
a la Congregación de Hermanas Misioneras de Rosario de Fàtima
ubicada en la Ciudad de Mèxico. He colaborado como Misionera
en las Sierras del Estado de Nuevo León, Colima, estado de
Mèxico y en la Arquidiócesis de Seattle. Actulamente colaboro
en la Parroquia de Sagrado Corazón en Medford, OR. Como
religiosa misionera, mi formación es permanente, cada año esudio
durante el verano en la Universidad Pontificia de la Ciudad
de Mèxico.

Hra. Leticia Salazar, ODN
Hermana Leticia es Religiosa de la Orden La Compañia
de María durante 28 años; actualmente es Miembro del Equipo
Provincial para la Provincia del Pacifico (USA, Colombia, Perú).
Hna. Leticia cuenta con más de 30 años de experiencia en la
Pastoral Hispana en sus diversos ministerios. Acompaña Ejercicios
Espirituales de San Ignacio de Loyola con grupos juveniles y
laicos en sus diversos ministerios nivel local, regional e internacional.
Cuenta con una Licenciatura en Teología y una Maestría en
Bioètica con ènfasis en Teología ambos grados de la Universidad
Loyola Marymount en Los Angeles.

Este taller pretende abordar la vocación de los bautizados,
especialmente laicos, y su llamado a vivir de manera activa su
llamado misionero.
P. Ben Tapia-Ortiz
Padre Tapia-Ortiz nació en 1982 en Tijuana, México. Asistió a las
escuelas primarias y secundarias en Tijuana, donde se graduó de la
secundaria en el año 2000. Luego se graduó del Instituto Superior
de Estudios Eclesiásticos, ganando un título de licenciatura en
Filosofía en el 2004. Asistió al Seminario en Mount Angel y a un
Semanario de San Juan en Camarillo, California. Obtuvo su maestrías
en Espiritualidad y Divinidad al Semanario del Seminario de San
Juan en Mayo del 2011. Fue ordenado el 9 de junio, 2012.
Jóvenes, Discípulos y Testigos de Hoy B003
Lo que queremos en este taller, es darle un claro mensaje tanto
a los jóvenes como a quienes los acompañan en sus procesos de
grupo, a reconocer su importante colaboración en la vida de sus
comunidades eclesiales. Así como la importancia de servirlos en
el idioma en el que se sienten más cómodos y “cerca” de Dios.
Raul Velazquez
Originario de Guadalajara, Jalisco, México; casado por 19 años
con una maravillosa mujer, con dos hijos que Dios nos ha concedido.
He tenido el privilegio de servir a la Iglesia a traves de la Oficina
de Ministerio Hispano por 18 años, facilitando el proceso de
formación para laicos y clérigos en la realidad intercultural, en esta
Arquidiócesis; por medio de diversos programas de formación y
proyectos conjuntos.
