Conference “A new Vision in Education”
El pasado 16 de marzo, el Grupo SEK-UCJC, socio del SBC, impartió la conferencia “Una nueva visión de la educación”.
El evento que incluyó la masterclass, “Ciudades Inteligentes, desde una perspectiva comparativa”, tuvo lugar en el Hotel
Intercontinental Doha de la Ciudad y más de 20 personas asistieron.

The event that, also included the masterclass “Smart Cities Framed in a Comparative Perspective” was held at Intercontinental

Aguas de Valencia WLL está trabajando para varios clientes en Qatar desde el pasado año siendo durante los meses de marzo
y abril cuando está consolidando sus proyectos del ciclo del agua en Doha. Todo ello gracias a un equipo altamente cualificado

Recientemente, el Consejero Delegado del Grupo Aguas, Dionisio García Comín, ha asegurado que “estamos muy satisfechos

El 21 de Marzo, tuvo lugar un desayuno para los socios del SBC, durante el cual se habló de los futuros eventos
a organizar durante los próximos meses y los socios asistentes aprovecharon para poner en relieve sus inquietudes
y prioridades necesarias para su desarrollo en el mercado local.
El evento tuvo lugar en el Hotel Oryx Rotana y contó con la asistencia de 19 socios.
On March 21st, a SBC member’s breakfast took place, during this event members discussed the future events to organize
in the coming months and they had the chance to talk about their concerns and priorities necessary for development in
the local market.

AH ASOCIADOS participated
in the “UNLIMITED DOHA DESIGN PRIZE: THE OPEN CITY”
AH ASOCIADOS (Francisco Trujillo Baute y Nerea Corral Prados) ha participado en el “UNLIMITED DOHA DESIGN
PRIZE: THE OPEN CITY” un taller organizado por el British Council, entre el 18 y el 26 de Marzo. Como se publicó
previamente en el Blog del British Council y en su cuenta de Twitter un total de 21 personas fueron seleccionadas,
diez de Reino Unido y otras diez de distintos lugares del Golfo. Algunos de los estudios participantes eran
por ejemplo “Bharat & Jean”, “The Edible Bus top”, “RA Projects”, “Studio Ben Allen” y “Scott Whitby Studio”
como representantes Británicos y otros de la zona como “Bricklab” y “National Engineering Bureau”.
Esta convocatoria ha estado patrocinada por S.A.R. Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani, presidenta
de Qatar Museums en colaboración con “The Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy”, UCL Qatar, la Escuela
de Ingenieria de la Universidad de Qatar, “Foster and Partners”, RIBA , la Sociedad de Ingenieros de Qatar,
”MAKOWER Architects” y “Doha Architecture Forum”.
Durante el programa, los participantes de AH buscaron soluciones para mejorar la experiencia de caminar en Doha,
mejorando la accesibilidad y la movilidad a lo largo de las zonas públicas de la ciudad integrando nuevas tecnologías
y la regeneración urbana y utilizando el mobiliario urbano y los productos tecnológicos como respuesta a las condiciones
ambientales extremas del lugar.
Esta ha sido una gran oportunidad para conocer y trabajar junto con diferentes equipos dedicados a temas
relacionados con la ciudad y el urbanismo.
AH ASOCIADOS (Francisco Trujillo Baute and Nerea Corral Prados) participated in the UNLIMITED DOHA DESIGN
PRIZE: THE OPEN CITY One-Week Design-Residency in Qatar by the British Council from March 18th to March 26th.
As it was published on the British Council Blog and British Council Twitter Account a total of 21 people were selected,
10 from UK and 10 from the Gulf. The partipants came from different companies such as “Bharat & Jean”,
“The Edible Bus Stop”, “RA Projects”, “Studio Ben Allen” and “Scott Whitby Studio” from United Kingdom;
and “Bricklab” and “National Engineering Bureau” from the Gulf.
The workshop was set up by the British Council “under the patronage of H.E. Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa
Al-Thani, Chairperson of Qatar Museums, and in partnership with The Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy” and
partners such as the Ministry of Municipality and Environment of Qatar, UCL Qatar, the College of Engineering Qatar
University, Foster + Partners, RIBA, Qatar Society of Engineers, Makower Architects, and Doha Architecture Forum.
During the “Open City” Design-Residency, AH looked for solutions to improve the public experience of walking through Doha,
improving the accessibility and mobility in the Public Space, integrating the SMART Technologies in the Urban Renewal and
considering the urban furniture design and products technology responding to the extreme weather conditions of Qatar.
During this period, AH ASOCIADOS took the opportunity to communicate and network with companies of different
countries, profile and nationalities, sharing different points of view on the Urban Renewal Subject.

DWF AND AIPN’S WORKSHOP ON RISK MANAGEMENT
UNDER EPC PROJECTS IN QATAR AND UAE
DWF y AIPN realizaron seminarios sobre estrategias para gestionar el riesgo en virtud de contratos EPC para
proyectos de petróleo y gas en Qatar y los Emiratos Árabes Unidos.
El evento tuvo lugar en Dubai el 6 de abril y tuvo 47 asistentes de despachos y empresas como Petrofac, Luk Oil,
Dragon Oil, ABB, Samsung C&T, Schlumberger y Crescent Petroleum.
El evento de Doha tuvo lugar el 20 de abril y tuvo 49 asistentes de despachos y empresas como QCON, TRAGS,
Descon Engineering Qatar LLC, RasGas Company Limited, Qatar Petroleum, Medgulf Construction Co,
SACYR Construcción y Dolphin Engery Limited.
DWF and AIPN held workshops on strategies to manage risk under EPC contracts for O&G projects
in Qatar and the United Arab Emirates.
The Dubai event took place on 6 April and had 47 attendees from law firms and companies such as Petrofac, Luk Oil,
Dragon Oil, ABB, Samsung C&T, Schlumberger and Crescent Petroleum.
The Doha event took place on 20 April and had 49 attendees from law firms and companies such as QCON, TRAGS,

las Cámaras de Comercio Alemana, Americana e Italiana
Conference and networking jointly organized by
the German, American, Italian and Spanish Business Councils
El 19 de abril, el SBC, organizó con las Cámaras de Comercio Alemana, Americana e Italiana, la Conferencia:
“Desarrollo actual y a largo plazo de los precios del gas y el impacto en la economía regional y global”.
La conferencia fue impartida por el Dr. Hossein Adeli, Secretario General del Foro de Países Exportadores de Gas.
El Foro de Países Exportadores de Gas (GECF) es una organización internacional gubernamental que proporciona
el marco para el intercambio de experiencias e información entre los países miembros. GECF es la asociación
de los principales productores de gas del mundo, que se reúnen con el objetivo de aumentar el nivel de coordinación
y fortalecer la colaboración entre los países miembros.
Después de la Conferencia, que se celebró en el Hotel Intercontinental Doha, los asistentes tuvieron la gran
oportunidad de ampliar su red de networking.
Más de 170 personas asistieron a este evento.
On April 19th, the SBC, organized with the German, American and the Italian Business Councils the Conference:
“Current and long term development of the Gas prices and Impact on the regional and global economy”.
The conference was given by Dr. Hossein Adeli, Secretary General, Gas Exporting Countries Forum.
Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) is an international governmental organization which provides the framework
for exchanging experience and information among member countries. GECF is a gathering of the world’s leading gas
producers with the objective to increase the level of coordination and strengthen the collaboration among member countries.
After the Conference, that was held at Inercontinental Doha Hotel, the attendees had the great opportunity to make networking.
More than 170 people attended to this event.

URBAN JAZZ KITCHEN in Porto Arabia, The Pearl for HDC
El pasado mes de Febrero Granada Deco completó con éxito para HDC (subsidiaria en Hospitality para
UDC) su proyecto estrella en Porto Arabia, URBAN JAZZ KITCHEN. Se trata de un turn-key project donde han
gestionado 600 m2 desde el diseño hasta la total ejecución de este concepto “casual dining” al más puro
estilo New Orleans.
Granada Deco aprovecha estas lineas para agradecer a HDC su profesionalidad y apoyo durante todo el proceso
de diseño y ejecución.
Last February, Granada Deco completed with success for HDC (UDC’s hospitality subsidiary) its star project in Porto
Arabia, URBAN JAZZ KITCHEN. A turn-key project where 600 m2 have been managed from design to total
execution for this New Orleans style casual dining concept.
Granada Deco wants to thank HDC for their great support and professionalism during the full design and execution
process.

for their executive programs which closes May 31st.
Documentos necesarios para recibir una solicitud completa:

•Curriculum Vitae (1-2 páginas).
•Dos cartas de referencia.
•Copia del pasaporte vigente.
•Declaración de Intención (1-2 páginas explicando tu motivación para participar en el programa).

También puede completar su solicitud online. Tras la revisión de su solicitud, usted será contactado para programar una entrevista por Skype
o por teléfono durante la semana del 6-10th de junio. Durante la entrevista se examinarán los datos proporcionados en la solicitud con mayor
detalle y evaluaran si su perfil encaja con las exigencias del programa para añadir valor al trabajo en grupo. Después de la entrevista y de la
revisión total de su solicitud, el Comité de Admisiones tomará su decisión final en base a la evaluación conjunta de su candidatura. La decisión se
basará en los diferentes aspectos de su perfil, así como la forma en que su perfil se alinea con los valores centrales de IE y el ambiente de aprendizaje.
Todo este proceso de admisión se llevará a cabo en dos semanas. Usted tendrá una respuesta sobre su admisión por parte de IE a partir del 17 de junio.
El proceso de admisión prioritaria para el programa ExMPLS le dará acceso a un plan de pago flexible. El pago inicial sería de 5.200 € en junio de 2016
para la reserva de plaza y tasas, la matrícula restante se puede pagar trimestral o mensualmente, dependiendo de cada caso en particular,
a partir de julio 2016 hasta mayo 2017.

of your entire application, the Admissions Committee will make its final decision based on the evaluation of your candidature as a whole.

This entire admission process will take two weeks. You will have an answer on your admission by June 17th. The Priority Admission process
for the EXMPLS program will give you access to a flexible payment plan. The initial down payment would be of 5,200€ in June 2016 for the
place reservation and the remaining tuition fees can be paid quarterly or monthly depending on each particular case, from July 2016
to May 2017.

La Biblioteca Nacional del rey Fahd, uno de los edificios culturales más importantes construidos en el Reino de

JG ha equipado el edificio con el programa Adapta, AMT y Qbuc con acabados diversos en función de la utilidad de los
puestos de trabajo. Arce y Aluminio para la zona de consulta y estudio; Blanco y Aluminio para la zona de Administración.
La versatilidad del programa Adapta, la integración de las soluciones de trabajo archivo en una sola marca y la rapidez en
la entrega de los requerimientos del proyecto y del producto, han sido decisivos para equipar este emblemático proyecto.

This installation is, without doubt, one the company’s major successes in recent years, and one of JG’s most important
projects.
JG fitted out the building with the Adapta, AMT and Qbuc ranges with various finishes based on the way in which each
workstation was to be used: maple and aluminium for the reading and study area; white and aluminium for the administration
area.
The versatility of the Adapta range, the integration of work and filing solutions in a single brand, and the rapid
delivery of project and product requirements were crucial in fitting out this iconic building.

los Programas del Bachillerato Internacional
SEK International School Qatar authorized
by International Baccalaureate to teach all IB Programmes
El Colegio Internacional SEK-Qatar, situado en Doha (Catar), ha conseguido la autorización necesaria para impartir el Programa de
los Años Intermedios del Bachillerato Internacional, para alumnos de 11 a 16 años y el Programa del Diploma, para alumnos de 16 a 18 años.
De esta forma, se convierte en el sexto Colegio Internacional SEK que ofrece los tres programas del IB, que se implantan desde los 3 hasta
los 18 años.
La Institución Educativa SEK, a la que pertenece SEK-Qatar, consigue, con esta autorización, que seis de sus nueve Colegios
Internacionales ofrezcan todos los programas de la Organización del Bachillerato Internacional (IB): SEK-El Castillo,
SEK-Ciudalcampo, SEK-Atlántico, SEK-Catalunya y SEK-Alborán, en España; y SEK-Qatar, en Doha (Catar). SEK-Dublin
(Irlanda) está autorizado a ofrecer el Programa de los Años Intermedios a su alumnado que va de los 13 a los 16 años, y
SEK-Santa Isabel, en Madrid (España), ofrece el Programa IB de la Escuela Primaria, a su alumnado que va de los 3 a los 12 años.
Marta Rodger, directora general de SEK International Schools, comenta que “es para SEK un orgullo poder sumar a nuestro
colegio de Catar como otro Colegio del Mundo del IB y ofrecer una opción educativa coherente en todas las etapas
escolares, que está totalmente alineada con los objetivos filosóficos y pedagógicos de nuestra institución”.

SEK International School Qatar, in Doha, has received the authorization needed to teach the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP),
for 11 to 18 year olds, and the Diploma Programme (DP), for 16 to 18 year olds. It therefore becomes the sixth SEK
International School to offer all three IB programmes, which are taught between the ages of 3 to 18 years old.
This authorisation means that six of the 9 international schools belonging to the SEK Educational Group – SEK-Qatar is one of them –
now offer all the International Baccalaureate’s programmes. The schools are: SEK-El Castillo, SEK-Ciudalcampo, SEK-Atlántico,
