OUR LEGACY
NUESTRO LEGADO
Last Saturday, November 8, parishioners of
all ages, and especially our elementary and
middle school Faith Formation students,
participated in Super Service Saturday.
They packed bags of food for people who
will be hungry and cold during the winter
months, and they also grew in their ability
to be compassionate – to “suffer with”
those who struggle and are in need in our
community.
El sábado pasado, 8 de noviembre, feligreses
de todas las edades y especialmente nuestros
estudiantes de formación de fe primaria
y Middle School participaron en el Súper
Sábado de Servicio. Empaquetaron bolsas de
alimentos para personas que pasarán hambre
y frio durante el invierno, pudiendo así,
aumentar su espíritu compasivo – sufrir con
los necesitados en nuestra comunidad.
This weekend, our high school youth
participated in a campout for the homeless,
experiencing for a night what it is like to
live in a homeless shelter, and also outdoors
in the cold, as so many homeless people in
our community know these experiences on
a habitual basis. These youth too learned
on a deeper level the virtues of compassion
and solidarity with those who are poor.
This awareness, concern and compassion
for those in need is a great legacy we hand
on to the young people of our parish.
It is a lesson I learned as a young person
growing up here at Good Shepherd years
ago – and it is a legacy we can be proud we
are still handing on today!
Este fin de semana, nuestros jóvenes de High
School participaron en un campamento por
los desamparados, experimentando por una
noche lo que se siente en un refugio y también
en el frio como muchos desamparados en
nuestra comunidad lo experimentan. Así
también, los jóvenes han aprendido de una
manera más profunda, las virtudes de la
compasión y solidaridad a los pobres.
Esta concientización, inquietud y compasión
por los necesitados es un gran legado que
pasamos a los jóvenes de nuestra parroquia.
Es una lección que yo mismo he aprendido
de joven hace muchos años, aquí en El Buen
Pastor – ¡y es un legado que debemos estar
orgullosos de pasar a esta generación!

HELP NEEDED FOR “LAS POSADAS”
December 15 - 23 (times vary)
Help sponsor one evening of Las Posadas by providing
refreshments. “Las Posadas” is an Advent tradition where
families portray Mary and Joseph’s journey
from Nazareth to Bethlehem over nine
days. We are seeking a different sponsor
(or group of sponsors) for each day of
the Posada. Sponsors provide cookies,
hot chocolate, and fruit or candy. Great
volunteer opportunity for RE classes, youth
