As a PARISH, we will support and further the spiritual growth
of our members through celebrating the SACRAMENTS, proclaiming the W ORD, building the C OMMUNITY, and serving all
GOD’S PEOPLE.

since July on Sunday afternoon, October 18, at
3 p.m. in the parish hall which is located in the
lower level of the church.

FALL FESTIVALL
St. Theresa has a long standing tradition of coming together in community and celebrating the feast of our Patron
Saint, Therese of Lisieux. The
Fall Festival was started by a
group of parishioners who
wanted to bring the parish together for a communal celebration and continues to be
organized in much the same way. On October 3,
2009 we will once again gather as a parish and
honor St. Therese as our patron and we will have
the opportunity to enjoy the many fun activities
and delicious foods that our fall festival committee
is planning for our enjoyment. I have participated
in some of the planning meetings of this committee and I see the enthusiasm with which they are
working to make of this festival one of the best
festivals we will have for our parish. So we all
could have a marvelous time together and be
proud of the tradition that has been left for us to
follow.
All members of the parish and the community are
welcomed and I encourage YOU to attend this
festival. It is a wonderful way to come together for
fellowship and community building. We will have
a wide array of food choices, local entertainment,
fun and games for the children and our annual
raffle. Please join us for a day of family fun!
This year’s festival will be held on Saturday, Oct 3
from 10am to 5pm at Clinton Park. The park is
located on Ephesus Church Road one mile west
of Post Road. The Post Road/Ephesus Church
Road intersection is one-half mile south of the
Post Road/Interstate 20 interchange.

FESTIVAL DE OTOÑO
Santa Teresa tiene una larga tradición de reunirse en comunidad para celebrar la fiesta de nuestra patrona Santa Teresa de Lisieux.
El festival de otoño fue empezado por un grupo
de parroquianos que querían reunir la parroquia
para una celebración comunitaria, dicha celebración continua organizándose casi de la misma
manera que cuando empezó. En Octubre 03 del
2009, reuniremos otra vez a la parroquia para
honrar a Santa Teresa, como nuestra patrona, y
tendremos la oportunidad de disfrutar de muchas
actividades divertidas y comidas deliciosas, que
nuestro comité del festival de otoño está planeando para nuestro entretenimiento, yo he participado en algunas de las reuniones de planeación de
este comité, y veo el entusiasmo con el cual ellos
están trabajando para hacer que este festival sea
uno de los mejores que tendremos para nuestra
parroquia . De tal manera que todos podamos
tener un maravilloso tiempo juntos y sentirnos orgullosos de la tradición a seguir, que nos han dejado.
Todos los miembros de la parroquia y de la comunidad están bienvenidos y yo LOS ánimo para
que asistan a este festival. Esta es una manera
maravillosa para reunirse a compartir y construir
la comunidad. Nosotros tendremos una amplia
variedad de opciones para comida, entretenimiento local, diversión y juegos para los niños y
además nuestra rifa anual. Por favor venga con
nosotros para un día de diversión familiar.
Este año el festival será celebrado el sábado 03
de octubre de las 10am a las 5pm en el Clinton
Park. El Parque está localizado sobre Ephesus
Church Road, una milla al oeste de la Post Road.

Dear brothers and sisters, as many
of you already know, we will be
celebrating the feast of our patroness this coming
Thursday, October 01, 2009. To celebrate St. Theresa and her great love for God, we will have two separate Masses. The first Mass will be celebrated in English at 9:00 am, and the second Mass will be celebrated at 7:00 pm and it will be a bi-lingual Mass.
I do invite all of you to come and be part of this feast
in which we will praise God for the many blessings
bestowed on this parish family and honor Saint Theresa as well for her powerful protection and intercession
in front of the throne of God.

SPORTS TICKER....Our parish team held
a slim halftime lead over the defending
champions from Our Lady of Lourdes in
Catholic men's basketball action last weekend but fell to the Atlanta team 54-41 in the
most thrilling game of the day. We had a very balanced attack and played well behind a 13 point effort
of Ken Ramey but it was not quite enough as we go 11 on the young season. Plan to come and cheer on
your fellow parishioners when they take on Holy Trinity at 2 p.m. Sunday in what is expected to be a terrific
battle. Admission is free!
TWENTY-SIXTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME

With the approach of the flu season, please exercise appropriate precautions at Mass, especially if you have been ill. Refrain from personal contact during the Our Father and the Sign
of Peace, receiving Holy Communion from the cup, using the
Holy Water font, etc. Your fellow parishioners will greatly appreciate your consideration.
Anyone experiencing flu-like symptoms (fever, headache,
tiredness, cough, sore throat, runny nose, etc.) should consider not attending Sunday Mass or other parish activities.
The possibility of infection with the influenza virus represents
a sufficient reason not to attend Sunday Mass and obviates
the Sunday obligation.

Misa será celebrada a las 7:00 de la noche y será Misa bilingüe.

Misa, especialmente si usted ha estado enfermo.
Por favor Absténgase del contacto personal durante
el Padre Nuestro y el Signo de la Paz, y por favor
siéntase libre de abstenerse de recibir la Comunión
de la Copa. Sus hermanos parroquianos apreciarán
su consideración. Cualquier persona que esté experimentando síntomas de gripa como (fiebre, dolor de
cabeza, cansancio, tos, garganta adolorida, líquido
en la nariz, etc.) no debe asistir a misa del Domingo
u otras actividades de la parroquia. La posibilidad
de infección con gripa representa una razón suficiente para no asistir a misa del Domingo, y es dispensado de la obligación del Domingo.

TWENTY-SIXTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
San Miguel, San Gabriel y San Rafael Arcángeles
San Miguel.
Este nombre significa: "¿Quién como Dios? O: "Nadie es como Dios".
A San Miguel lo nombre tres veces la S. Biblia. Primero en el capítulo 12 del libro de Daniel a donde se dice: "Al final de los tiempos aparecerá Miguel, al gran Príncipe que defiende a los hijos del
pueblo de Dios. Y entonces los muertos resucitarán. Los que hicieron el bien, para la Vida Eterna,
y los que hicieron el mal, para el horror eterno".
En el capítulo 12 del Libro del Apocalipsis se cuenta lo siguiente: "Hubo una gran batalla en el cielo. Miguel y sus ángeles combatieron contra Satanás y los suyos, que fueron derrotados, y no
hubo lugar para ellos en el cielo, y fue arrojada la Serpiente antigua, el diablo, el seductor del
mundo. Ay de la tierra y del mar, porque el diablo ha bajado a vosotros con gran furor, sabiendo
que le queda poco tiempo".
En la Carta de San Judas Tadeo se dice: "El Arcángel San Miguel cuando se le enfrentó al diablo le dijo: ‘Que te castigue el Señor’".
Por eso a San Miguel lo pintan atacando a la serpiente infernal.
La Iglesia Católica ha tenido siempre una gran devoción al Arcángel San Miguel, especialmente para pedirle que nos
libre de los ataques del demonio y de los espíritus infernales. Y él cuando lo invocamos llega a defendernos, con el gran
poder que Dios le ha concedido. Muchos creen que él sea el jefe de los ejércitos celestiales.
San Gabriel.
Su nombre significa: "Dios es mi protector".
A este Arcángel se le nombra varias veces en la S. Biblia. Él fue el que le anunció al profeta
Daniel el tiempo en el que iba a llegar el Redentor. Dice así el profeta: "Se me apareció Gabriel de parte de Dios y me dijo: dentro de setenta semanas de años (o sea 490 años) aparecerá el Santo de los Santos" (Dan. 9).
Al Arcángel San Gabriel se le confió la misión más alta que jamás se le haya confiado a criatura alguna: anunciar la encarnación del Hijo de Dios. Por eso se le venera mucho desde la
antigüedad.
Su carta de presentación cuando se le apareció a Zacarías para anunciarle que iba a tener
por hijo a Juan Bautista fue esta: "Yo soy Gabriel, el que está en la presencia de Dios" (Luc.
1, 19).
San Lucas dice: "Fue enviado por Dios el ángel Gabriel a una ciudad de Galilea, a una virgen llamada María, y llegando junto a ella, le dijo: ‘Salve María, llena de gracia, el Señor está contigo’. Ella se turbó al
oír aquel saludo, pero el ángel le dijo: ‘No temas María, porque has hallado gracia delante de Dios. Vas a concebir un
hijo a quien pondrás por nombre Jesús. Él será Hijo del Altísimo y su Reino no tendrá fin’".
San Gabriel es el patrono de las comunicaciones y de los comunicadores, porque trajo al mundo la más bella noticia:
que el Hijo de Dios se hacía hombre.
San Rafael.
Su nombre significa: "Medicina de Dios".
Fue el arcángel enviado por Dios para quitarle la ceguera a Tobías y acompañar al hijo de éste en un
larguísimo y peligroso viaje y conseguirle una santa esposa.
Su interesante historia está narrada en el día 7 de febrero. San Rafael es muy invocado para alejar enfermedades y lograr terminar felizmente los viajes.
