It was the first clinch at home after the 2015 celebration was after the Chihuahuas September 6 win at Reno. • Another win on Thursday would secure the season series against the 51s. El Paso was 10 out of 16 meetings in 2015 while Las Vegas owned a 9-games-to-7 edge in the first season of play. • A win for El Paso today would also be the 2nd consecutive series win for the Chihuahuas, something they have not done since their June 30-July 3 series at home against Reno & the July 4-6 series in Albuquerque. The last home series win for the Chihuahuas was against Memphis on July 18-21 & they have split their last two home series against Salt Lake & Fresno. • Dinelson Lamet will make his home debut for the Chihuahuas on Thursday. Carlos Pimentel matched Lamet's organization-leading 12th win of the season in last night's division-clinching victory. Lamet leads the Padres developmental system with 151 strikeouts & is 2nd in ERA (2.91) behind tomorrow's starter Walker Locket (2.72). • El Paso's 9th shutout victory of the season last night was aided by 4 shutout innings by the Chihuahuas bullpen, the 14th time in 2016 & 4th time since August 15 that the bullpen finished a 9-inning game with 4 or more innings of scoreless relief. The team ERA is 4.99 entering play on Thursday & is below 5.00 for the first time since July 15. • The Pacific Coast League announced today that Chihuahuas outfielder Hunter Renfroe has been named 2016 PCL MVP, the first Chihuahuas to win the award. He is the 4th Padres farmhand to win the award & the first since Sandy Alamar, Jr. did so in 1988 & 1989 when Las Vegas was the Padres Triple-A affiliate. Renfroe has set new single-season Chihuahuas records in home runs (29) & RBI (104) while also surpassing previous records in hits (159) & runs (94) which are all 2nd-best at the Triple-A level. He also ranks 1st among all Triple-A hitters & 4th in all of Minor League Baseball in extra-base hits (68) while his .559 slugging percentage is 3rd at the highest level of MiLB. facebook.com/epchihuahuas 1 epchihuahuas.com 2016 Game Notes TODAY’S STARTING PITCHER # 24 DINELSON LAMET HT: 6-4 | WT: 187 | B/T: R/R | AGE: 24 | BORN: July 18, 1992 in Santiago, Dominican Republic School: N/A | Acquired: Signed as an international free agent on July 18, 2014 LAMET QUICK HITS: 3rd professional season...Began career in the Dominican Summer League in 2014 before coming to the United States for his first full year...Signed with the San Diego Padres on his 22nd birthday...Rated as the Padres No.18 prospect at mid-season & was No. 13 in the preseason seedings according to MLB.com 2016: • Made his Triple-A debut for the Chihuahuas on August 27 in Albuquerque • His 12 wins & 151 strikeouts rank first among all pitchers in the Padres minor league system & his 2.91 ERA is 2nd behind Walker Lockett’s 2.72 ERA • He has made 8 starts of 6.0 IP & 0 runs allowed in addition to recording at least 7 K’s in 11 different starts • Began the year with High-A Lake Elsinore where he was the Opening Day starter for the Storm on April 7 • Won 7 games for Lake Elsinore & was named a California League All-Star; The Diamond in Lake Elsinore was the host of the 2016 California-Carolina League All-Star Game on June 20 • Promoted to Double-A San Antonio on June 6 where he made 14 starts with a record of 5-7 • Struck out a career-high 10 batters in just 4.1 IP on August 3; faced 21 batters & shouldered the losing decision vs. Corpus Christi • Allowed just 1 run over his last 17.1 IP at Double-A LAMET NOTES: • Pitched all of 2015 for Single-A Fort Wayne of the Midwest League • Started the 2nd-most games (24) among all TinCaps pitchers while leading the staff with 120 strikeouts • Made his professional debut on August 20, 2014 for the Padres in the Dominican Summer League; pitched 2.0 innings in relief & allowed 1 unearned run with 4 strikeouts • Struck out 4 more over 2.0 IP in his only other outing of the 2014 DSL season on August 23 2016 GAME-BY-GAME RESULTS, ALL LEVELS (LAST 5 STARTS • 2-3, 2.28 ERA) 2016 SEASON HIGHS/LOWS (ALL LEVELS) HIGHS LOWS DATE OPP DEC IP H R ER BB K HR NP-S ERA RESULT 8/3 @CC L 4.1 5 4 4 3 10 0 80-48 4.26 L 6-2 IP: 6.0 (11x) IP: 3.2 (7/2 vs. TUL) H: 9 (6/15 @ MID) H: 1 (6/25 @ MID) R: 5 (2x) R: 0 (7x) ER: 5 (6/15 @ MID) ER: 0 (7x) BB: 5 (6/25 @ MID) BB: 0 (2x) K: 10 (8/3 @ CC) K: 2 (3x) HR: 2 (4/12 @ HD) HR: 0 (21x) NP: 104 (6/23 vs.MID) NP: 70 (4/18 vs. SJ) 8/9 ARK W 6.0 3 0 0 0 7 0 78-55 3.86 W 4-0 8/14 NWA W 6.0 2 0 0 0 9 0 83-57 3.52 W 4-0 8/20 @NWA L 5.1 5 1 1 1 7 1 92-57 3.39 L 5-2 8/27 @ALB L 6.0 8 2 2 2 6 1 93-58 3.00 L 5-4 @epchihuahuas facebook.com/epchihuahuas vs. Las Vegas 51s • 2 epchihuahuas.com 2016 Game Notes POSITION PLAYER BIOS Carlos Asuaje inf Last Game: 1-3, BB, R Acquired: Traded from Boston Red Sox w/ OF Manny Margot, INF Javier Guerra, & LHP Logan Allen Series: 7-12 for Craig Kimbrel on November 13, 2015 School: Nova Southeastern (Fort Lauderdale, FL) Road Trip/Homestand: 7-12 • Fourth pro season, Padres No. 20 prospect according to MLB.com at mid-season, preseason No. 17 • Represented the Padres in San Diego for the 2016 Futures Game playing for the World Team at Petco Current Hit Streak: 5 (8/27- ) 9-for-18 Park & started at second base as the lead-off hitter for the PCL at the 2016 Triple-A All-Star Game in Longest Hit Streak: 12 (7/5-7/23) Charlotte • Drafted by Boston Red Sox in the 11th Round of the 2013 draft Last Home Run: 7/30/16 @ LV • Minor League All-Star last three seasons at Triple-A, Double-A (Portland), & Single-A (Greenville) • Spent all of 2015 with Portland Sea Dogs (Double-A, Red Sox) & led Portland in runs scored, hits, ASUAJE 2016 SEASON HIGHS triples, RBIs, walks & games played (131) H: 4 (2x) SO: 3 (2x) • Played for the Arizona Fall League champions, Scottsdale Scorpions, in the offseason.
