SCHOOL NEWS



Our school opened on September 6, with an
enrollment of 232 students on Grade K-8.
Fr. John and Fr. George con celebrated a
Mass on the opening day of school. Our Prekindergarten has 112 students coming four
days a week in the morning.

throughout the school year. Contact the

THE PASTOR’S CORNER
“Beloved. First of all, I ask that supplications
prayers, petitions, and thanksgiving be offered
for everyone, for kings and for all in authority,
that we may lead quiet and tranquil life in all
devotion and dignity. This is good and pleasing to
God our savior, who wills everyone to be saved
and to come to knowledge of the truth. For there
is one God. There is one mediator between God
and men, the man Christ Jesus who gave himself
as ransom for all.”
Paul wrote an encouraging note to Timothy and we
have a chance to both read it and apply it for our
spiritual well-being. We are taught all the elements
of prayer – adoration, contrition, thanks and
supplication, as we have noted before – ACTS. As I
examine my prayer life, I want to include all these
elements in what I include as prayer.
Timothy also is reminded of God’s will and His will
for us all – salvation and encounter with the Truth.
These are not earned but are offered as gifts, for
which I can ask and receive. The reason for it is the
reminder that Jesus is the one mediator, the savior.
As labor talks, contracts are often brokered by a
mediator or arbitrator, so Jesus represents us, has
done all is required, and only asks us to ‘sign on’.
In Paul’s words, it leads us to more quiet and
tranquil lives.

Our Diocesan Pilgrimage to the Basilica of the
National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in
Washington, D.C. will take place on Thursday,
October 20, 2016. In Scripture and throughout
Church history, pilgrimages have been a
significant part of the life of the faithful. Bishop
Barres will lead us in this graced time of
devotion and evangelization. Plan to participate
and make your bus reservation now by calling
the parish office. Please make a sincere effort to
join our Bishop and the people of our Diocese
for this special event, as we celebrate the year of
Mercy. We are taking one bus and have 46 seats
available. If you are planning to attend please
make your reservation all money due needs to be

“Amados, ante todo, les recomiendo que se hagan
peticiones, oraciones, súplicas y acciones de
gracias por todos los hombres, por los soberanos
y por todas las autoridades, para que podamos
disfrutar de paz y de tranquilidad, y llevar una
vida piadosa y digna. Esto es bueno y agradable
a Dios, nuestro Salvador, porque él quiere que
todos se salven y lleguen al conocimiento de la
verdad. Hay un solo Dios y un solo mediador
entre Dios y los hombres: Jesucristo, hombre él
también, que se entregó
a sí mismo para rescatar a todos.”
San Pablo escribió una nota de aliento a Timoteo y
tenemos la oportunidad tanto de leerla como de
aplicarla para nuestro bienestar espiritual. Se nos
enseñan los elementos de la oración: adoración,
remordimiento, agradecimiento y súplica, como lo
hemos indicado anteriormente: ARAS. Al examinar
mi vida de oración, deseo incluir todos estos
elementos en mi plegaria.
También se le recuerda a Timoteo la voluntad de
Dios y su deseo para todos nosotros: la salvación y
el conocimiento de la verdad. Estos no son ganados
sino ofrecidos como dones, los cuales puedo pedir y
recibir. La razón de esto es el recordatorio de que
Jesús es el mediador, el salvador. Durante pláticas
laborales, los contratos se negocian con mediadores
o árbitros, y de esta forma Jesús nos representa, ha
hecho todo lo requerido y sólo nos pide que
‘firmemos’.
En las palabras de San Pablo, nos lleva a vidas más
piadosas y dignas.
