A MESSAGE FROM FR. CARLOS
Dear brothers and sisters in the Lord:
Next Sunday we will have the blessing to celebrate the
50th anniversary of the founding of our parish. During
these years we have gone through difficult times and
moments of great grace. We can not fail to see in all
these events the loving hand of God that leads us
forward and thank him wholeheartedly for this time.
Archbishop Jose Gomez will join us in the celebration
along with the regional Bishop Robert Barron. The
Archbishop will preside over the Mass at 11:15 am. We
look forward to your presence and your prayers. God
Bless your week.
Please note: The 10:30 AM, 12 Noon, & 5:30 PM
Masses are cancelled.
Youth Ministry News
I have been waiting to write a thank you to all
who support our Youth Ministry due to the fact that
we were still waiting to confirm all of our donations
and fundraising income from this summer. With
that said, thank you to all of our parishioners
who supported us this summer with our various
fundraising events. Because of you we raised a little
over $4,500 between donations, chocolate sales,
and other fundraising opportunities. We are very
grateful and blessed for all of the help we receive.
Without this parish, most of our teens would not be
able to participate in conferences and other events
that we go to throughout the year. So again, thank
you for everything! Our ministry has grown so much
in the past 6 years and is still growing in ways I
couldn’t even imagine when I started as Youth
Minister, and a lot of it is due to the support of our
parish which I am truly thankful for.
REMINDER: Confirmation registrations due Aug. 31.

Did You Know?
Road to priesthood involves a rigorous
formation process
Seminary formation involves much more than
academic study. Prior to ordination, a candidate for
priesthood goes through a lengthy evaluation period,
including an internship during which he lives in a
rectory and works with priests, staff and parishioners.
During this time, the candidate is evaluated as to his
suitability to be a priest. No one is ordained unless the
staff of St. John’s Seminary, including the lay faculty
and formation advisers, concludes that the candidate
has attained an emotional, psychological and sexual
maturity appropriate for his age and for the celibate
life of a priest. For more information, please visit
www.lavocations.org or call the Office for Vocations at
(213) 637-7248.
FOOD PANTRY
Next Sunday, September 4th is the
first Sunday of the month. Please bring
your non-perishable food items and
place them in the red bins located
outside the church doors.
Through
your
generosity
Sacred

parishioners have been a great help to the many
hungry families in our area. Thank you for your

Finding the Narrow Way with the Mystics
Appreciation Dinner for the Clergy and Religious
My Vocation is to Love God with all my heart and soul;
everything else flows from this, says Mother Teresa. If
we are to deepen our Faith and grow in the Love of our
Lord, we must regularly spend time with God!
Our classes are Contemplative, and they will help lead
us deeper into our own Faith. Mysticism is all about
“experience”, the transformation of” Union with God”. We
will talk about leaving our comfort zones and the ability
to consciously say “Yes” to God. If we have never lived
outside of our world of achievement and possessions,
then we will have never learned to be still and to breathe
with God.
We will meet at the San Buenaventura Parish Offices
on two Saturdays a month, beginning on September 10,
at 9AM. Please call Anne Vanoni to register 672-0920.
The Ventura Council 2498 Knights of Columbus will
host a Dinner to honor the Priests, Nuns, Brothers,
Deacons and wives from NW Ventura Co. on Thurs.
Sept 22nd at K of C Hall by the Mission. Guest speaker,
Honorable Manual Covarrubias. Social at 6 PM, Dinner
at 6:30 PM, choice of chicken or salmon, cost $12 each.
Must call or email reservations by Sept 8th to Pat 805650-9492 or [email protected]. Hall is at 36 So.
