NOTIFICATION LETTER FOR STUDENTS WHO ACHIEVE AT THE BASIC LEVEL
ON THE DPA AND ARE NO LONGER IN DANGER OF RETENION
GRADES 2 - 8
Directions:
The following letter is to be used by elementary teachers/middle school principals or designees
to inform parents/guardians that their student has achieved at the “Basic” level on the District’s
Progress Assessment and is no longer in danger of retention.
This letter should be issued after the DPA if a student achieves at the “Basic” level, on school
letterhead.
Copies must be retained by the classroom teacher, school and parent.
The elementary school teacher and principal or the middle school principal/designee should sign
this letter.

In November we discussed that your child was performing below the minimum grade level
standards and that retention was a possibility.
This letter is to inform you that student’s name and student’s ID# has met the minimum
standards for promotion by achieving at the Basic level on the District’s Progress Assessment.
We would still encourage your student to take full advantage of summer school and other
intervention programs.
