At all of the Masses today we will use the St.
Augustine Feast Day prayers instead of the Ordinary
Time prayers. In this way the entire parish can
celebrate together. (The date of St. Augustine's Feast is
August 28th. Hopefully we can have a special cake for
some of the Masses so you can socialize after Mass.)
Someone said we should not have a free dinner to
celebrate the 50th Anniversary of our current church
(which was pospond due to illness) due to the
financial shortfall in our budget. Some parishioners as
well as some parish groups were willing to
generously pick up the bulk of the cost. They were,
however, also going to put out a free-will
offering basket to cover the remaining cost.
We have some fine people in our parish. That's why
I try to say "Thank you" often. The collection is up
since the fiscal year results were presented in the
bulletin. There is even an anonymos parishioner who
pleaded to contribute $500 a month, longterm, in
addition to their regular Sunday collection
envelop. WOW! The Guadaluponos had a successful
party and also made a nice donation to the parish.
And our St. Thomas Aquinas Esquella de la Cruz
prayer group planted some trees, trimmed bushes and
trees and cleaned up the property last Saturday. Thank you all so much for your support. It's
great to see everyone pulling together.
I met some of the three dozen men from the
Esquella de la Cruz group who were here last week
from Santa Paula, Los Angeles etc., to plan for this
weekend's retreat. They were a fine group of men.
They came in together and sat up front at Mass. More
parish groups should plan to sit together at some
Masses so we can recognize you and pray for the success of your group. That's what Church is all about praying and supporting each other.
Be assured of your pastor's prayers, and the offering
of a Mass for the parish family each Sunday.

En todas las misas de hoy vamos a utilizar las oraciones Agustín día de la fiesta de San en lugar de las
oraciones tiempo ordinario. De esta manera toda la
parroquia puede celebrar juntos. (La fecha de la fiesta

Alguien dijo que no deberíamos tener una cena gratis
