Dear Friends,
Our crowds and our celebration of the Paschal Mysteries were truly a memorable experience for all of us!
Palm Sunday and Easter Sunday – the Police needed to close Whitney Avenue due to the enormous crowds.
We thank the 110 Precinct for all their assistance. At the Easter Vigil we prepared 1200 candles for the
congregation – and we ran out 20 minutes before the ceremony began! Perhaps close to 1300 filled the church and
aisles as we baptized 12 and offered Confirmation and Communion to 18. Our collections and your Easter Gift to
the parish once again show your generosity and love for our parish.
Today we celebrate Mercy Sunday. Pope Francis announced a “Holy Year of Mercy” for the entire Church
which will end this year. God’s mercy is overwhelming – like a flowing river for all of us.

¡Nuestras multitudes y nuestra celebración de los Misterios Pascuales fueron
verdaderamente una experiencia inolvidable para todos nosotros! El Domingo de Ramos y el Domingo de Pascua la
Policía necesitó cerrar la Av. Whitney debido a las enormes multitudes. Agradecemos al 110 Precinct por toda su
ayuda. Para la Vigilia Pascua preparamos 1200 velas para la congregación, ¡y se acabaron 20 minutos antes de que
comenzara la ceremonia! Quizás cerca de 1300 personas llenaron la iglesia y los pasillos, bautizamos a 12 jóvenes y se
ofreció la Confirmación y la Comunión a 18. Nuestras colectas y su Regalo de Pascua a la parroquia una vez más
demuestran su generosidad y amor por nuestra parroquia.
Hoy celebramos el Domingo de la Misericordia. El Papa Francisco ha anunciado un "Año Santo de
la Misericordia" para toda la Iglesia, que terminara este año. La misericordia de Dios es
contundente, como un río que fluye por todos nosotros.

ministers of holy communion. Would you like to give of your time to serve your parish on Saturday or
Sunday – at least once a month? All it requires is a brief interview with one of the parish priests and a

(18 and over) who would like to receive the
sacrament of confirmation on
Pentecost Sunday – May 15, 2016.

Here’s what will be required: We will need an
updated (new) copy of your certificate of
baptism You need to be a registered
parishioner of St. Bartholomew and attend
mass every Sunday You will need to attend all
5 classes As you know, if you are not married in
the church (married civilly) or living in a
relationship you cannot receive any sacrament
until the issue is resolved.
