Just like the Son of the Father, who was begotten,
in our prayers you shall always be, and never forgotten.
We thank you for all you have done for our parish, our families
and our community.
If it were not for your prayers, your inspiration, and your blessings,
this parish, our faith, would not be what it is today.
On behalf of our entire parish family, here at St. Vincent Church,
may God bless you.
You will always be in our prayers

CCD CORNER
St. Vincent's CCD Program was supervised, supported and encouraged by our Pastor, Father Joe. The
teachers, students and parents will miss seeing him on
Wednesday nights and Saturday mornings. Let's
all keep him in our prayers and wish him well in his new
parish.
Something to think about from St. John Paul II taken
from his homily which was given in 2002 at World
Youth Day in Toronto: "The greatest deception and the
deepest source of unhappiness is the illusion of finding life by excluding God, of finding freedom by excluding moral truths and personal responsibility."
Remember: register early for CCD classes this Fall.
Congratulations

Lord guiding us to walk together in perfect harmony. We
offer our obedience, friendship, affection and availability

Solemnity of Pentecost: All Different All One
PENTECOST SUNDAY
When on Pentecost Sunday the
Apostles first proclaimed the Christian
message, they presented the Gospel to
people from all over the world yet
were heard speaking in their own languages. The Greeks heard the message
in Greek, the Persians in Farsi, the Romans in Latin, the Jews in Hebrew or
Aramaic, etc. Although the people who
heard the message were from all over,
the message itself united them into one
people. This was and is the work of the
Holy Spirit, forming us into One Person, the Body of Christ. Thus St. Paul
tells the Corinthians, "We are all different, we have different gifts, we do
different things, but we are untied in
the Holy Spirit into One Body.”
Pluralism is not an exception in the
Church, it is the norm. As an example
of pluralism I offer the type of experiences that we had right here in the
United States. There are Hispanic
Catholics, Black Catholics, and White
Catholics, Asian Catholics, African
Catholics, etc. Issues affecting women as women, men as
men, youth, children, the sick, and the elderly are all
discussed regularly. The very word Catholic means
universal.
All of us together are formed by the Holy Spirit in
the one Body of Christ. We have to get away from the
thought that someone or some group is rather an exception than a norm in the Church. There is no one normal
group in the Body of Christ. We are all united by the
Holy Spirit to make up this Body. All partake of the
heart of the Body's existence.
So also in our parish. There are hundreds of people
who are part of the ministries of our parish. Some are
talented teachers, some are musically talented, some visit
the sick and homebound, some welcome inquirers, some
work with our young people, some serve in a liturgical
position. I could go on and on. None of these ministers
are on the fringe of the parish. All make up the heart of
the parish because we are all united by the Holy Spirit.
As Catholics we don't just put up
with each other's differences, we value
each other's differences as a unique
manifestation of the Holy Spirit without which our faith body would be incomplete.
Now I have always been tempted to
think that people who don't see things
as I do are probably wrong. The big
trouble with that is that everyone,
thank God, is not like me. Everyone
has not had the same experiences that I
have had. Nor have I had their experiences. They don't know what it is like
to have grown up in the Italian American culture. Nor do I know what it is
like to be able to say, "My ancestors
first came to this country in the 17th
century." They don't know what it is
like to have been on the edge for having pushed too hard, as I have foolishly
done at times, nor do I know what it is
like to have been on the edge for having to undergo a split at home, as many
others have had in their lives. Even
more fundamental. I don't know what it
is like to view life as a woman, nor do women know
what it is like to view things like a man.
Yet the Holy Spirit unites all different viewpoints to
make the Body of Christ complete. Therefore, it would
be as wrong for me to impose my individual perceptions
on others, as it would be for others to demand that I see
things through their eyes. The message that comes clear
to us at Pentecost is that we must respect each other's
differences. We have all been gifted with unique manifestations of the Spirit. The Church is stronger for our
letting the Spirit live in our lives. Without the Holy Spirit
we would be a disorganized mob. With the Holy Spirit
we are the Body of Christ.
On Pentecost Sunday, the Church was born. The
Holy Spirit united different people into the one Body of
Christ. We, the members of the Body of Christ, benefit
from our differences one from the other. May we allow
the Holy Spirit to flow through our lives so that our respect for each other's uniqueness might itself draw more
people to become members of His Body.

PRAY FOR THE SAFE RETURN OF
ALL OUR MILITARY PERSONNEL
Lord Jesus, Savior of the world and King of Peace, watch
over our sons and daughters in the service of their country.
Protect them from the physical and moral dangers of military
life. Keep them close to You and help them live the Commandments. Lord Jesus, give them courage to serve their country with honor and dignity. Be with them when they are in
danger; strengthen them when they face hardships. Above all
Lord, grant that when their service is finished they may return
to us, sound in mind, body and soul. Amen.

RESPECT LIFE
Paul VI Spoke the Truth About Contraception,
and Marriage (Part 1)
by Fr. Shenan J. Boquet, President, Human Life International,
05/23/2014
On May 10 the Vatican announced that Pope Francis will beatify
his predecessor, Pope Paul VI, this October at the conclusion of the
Extraordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops on the
Family. The miracle that the Medical Commission of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints has approved for Pope Paul has to do
with the extraordinary healing of a preborn baby from California who
was diagnosed with serious abnormalities. During prenatal exams,
doctors projected that the abnormalities could result in severe brain
damage and recommended the child’s termination.
Rejecting these naysayers’ diagnosis and their recommendation
to kill her unborn baby, the heroic mother instead entrusted herself
and the life of her developing baby to Almighty God through the
intercession of Paul VI. Her unyielding trust must have bewildered,
frustrated and amazed her doctors, family and friends. In spite of
tremendous skepticism, she carried her baby to term and gave birth to
a healthy baby, free from any health complications whatsoever.
Can you imagine the overwhelming joy and amazement that
filled the delivery room? Now eighteen years old, her child remains
completely healthy.
I find it somewhat ironic that Paul VI’s beatification is announced in the midst of a firestorm of controversy concerning the
upcoming Synod on the Family. Reminiscent of the debate over
Church teaching on contraception in the mid-1960s, some members
of the hierarchy and laity are calling for change in the Church’s doctrine on marriage.
As if on cue, Paul VI returns to remind the faithful once again of
the Church’s need to hold fast to the unchangeable truth entrusted to
her concerning the sacredness and dignity of marriage between one
man and one woman: That it is faithful, exclusive and open to life.
Pope Paul VI led the Church for fifteen years (1963-1978) during some very tumultuous times, and is mostly remembered for his
1968 encyclical, Humane Vitae. Against the recommendations of
many Church authorities and theologians who proposed changing the
Church’s teaching on artificial contraception, the Holy Father instead
reaffirmed the Catholic teaching on life, love and human sexuality,
while bringing the unchanging truth of the doctrine into dialogue with
the present.
“The transmission of human life,” he said, “is a most serious role
in which married people collaborate freely and responsibly with God
the Creator.”
Reflecting on married love and responsible parenthood, Pope
Paul VI reminded the Church that married love is “total.” Spouses
give themselves to each other unconditionally:
“Married love is also faithful and exclusive of all others, and
this until death … Finally, this love is fecund. It is not confined wholly
to the loving interchange of husband and wife; it also contrives to go
beyond this to bring new life into being. Marriage and conjugal love
are by their nature ordained toward the procreation and education of
children. Children are really the supreme gift of marriage and
contribute in the highest degree to their parents’ welfare.” (n. 9)
Paul VI also made four famous predictions in paragraph 17
about what would happen to marriage and society if the Church’s
long-held teachings about contraception were ignored, and the dignity
of the marital act in its unitive and procreative aspects separated: (1)
an increase in conjugal infidelity; (2) “a general lowering of morality”; (3) men would cease respecting women in their totality and
would cause them to treat women as “mere instruments of selfish
enjoyment,” rather than cherished collaborative partners; and (4) unscrupulous governments would use contraceptives coercively against
the weak and marginalized.

Podemos llegar a sentirnos
Dios no envió a
305-821-0002 o fax a 305-821-0772.
bendiciones a nosotros y a nuestras familias.
A smile happens in a flash,
...but its memory can last a lifetime.
