13th International Linguistics Conference in Northwest Mexico
(XIII Encuentro Internacional de Lingüística en el Noroeste de México)

We invite faculty, researchers and graduate students to submit abstracts for papers and posters
addressing topics in all major linguistic subfields as well as related cross-disciplinary areas listed
below:

Educational Linguistics
Forensic Linguistics
Historical and Comparative Linguistics
Historiography and history of Linguistics

Syntax
Panel sessions on specific topics are also welcomed with prior notice to the organizing committee
within the abstract submission period. Speakers will have 20 minutes for presentation and 10 minutes
for discussion. Size especifications for poster will be provided in the conference website:
www.encuentrolinguistica.uson.mx
The official languages of the conference are Spanish and English.
ABSTRACT SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
1. Authors may submit one single-authored and one co-authored 400-500 word abstract.
2. The text of the abstract should be anonymous and include:
a) tittle of the paper
b) a brief description of the problem or issue addressed, clearly stating the main point,
arguments or findings of the paper,
c) a few illustrative examples to support the main point or argument
d) no more than five references.
3. Please send the abstract electronically in both Word and PDF versions.
4. Please provide the following information in the body of your email:
 Tittle of your presentation
 Whether the abstract is for a presentation or poster
 Author(s)’ name(s)
 Institutional affiliation and status (faculty, graduate student, etc.)
 Country of precedence
 Email address
 Preferred postal address and phone number
 Special equipment required besides laptop and video projector

$110 USD (1500 Mexican pesos)
$60 USD (800 Mexican pesos)
$30 USD (400 Mexican pesos)
Registration will start at 9 AM on November 12th at the lobby of the Department of Literature and
Linguistics (Departamento de Letras y Lingüística) and will continue during the remaining days of
the conference.
ADDITIONAL IMPORTANT INFORMATION
We encourage the interested participants to confirm their attendance no later than September 5th,
2014, so the final version of the Conference’s program includes their names.
