A Message from our Pastoral Leader...
The saving graces of the Mass are for:
Dear Sisters and Brothers,
Our summer days are coming to an
end. Schools will open soon and family schedules will be revamped from
summer vacation days. Change is inevitable. We continue to move through
changes here at the parish including the
construction project that has gone fullspeed ahead for the past several weeks. It is coming to a
close. We are grateful to those contracted for the work,
our staff, and our many volunteers for the hard work and
efficiency with which this project moved along.
We gather for the Eucharist once again as a praying
community. We come together as people of faith. A life
of faith is nurtured in the family home as well as in the
parish church. We are supported by the people around us
at Mass who believe in God and bring with them their
hopes, dreams, and requests. In the family home, a life of
prayer, kindness and generosity sustain us for the week.
Our Gospel provides a beautiful reflection on faith and
perseverance in prayer. Picture a woman pleading on
behalf of her sick daughter; the image of the woman
gives a sense of desperation. She does not belong to the
same culture or religious belief as Jesus and his disciples.
Her prayer is answered because Jesus sees in her great
courage and faith.
Life is filled with many mysteries. Maybe life is not
the way we wish it to be but this is the life and people
that God has given us. Can we see with faith the image
of God in these people? The Lord will not abandon us;
God loves us all, each one. Let us pray individually and
for others that faith and courage may increase within our
hearts.
Lord, I believe you are the Christ,
the Son of the living God,
who have said:
“All things are possible for those who believe.”
I believe. Help my unbelief. Lord, increase my faith.
Amen.

He has given us the gifts we need to accomplish
that mission. We are called to be good stewards
by using those gifts to do the work that He has
planned for each of us. If we deny our gifts or fail
to use them as God calls us to use them, then
some part of His work will be left undone.

MASS INTENTIONS:
St. Philip Parish is accepting Mass intentions through
the end of 2014 and into 2015. Please call the Parish
Office (468-7848) early enough to reserve the date of
your choice. We accept 2 intentions for each weekday/
weekend Mass. We ask that a person limits their intentions to
2 weekend Masses, but can have unlimited weekday intentions. Intentions are first come, first served. Our stipend remains $10/Mass. Votive candles in the church windows are
$3/each, and are labeled with your loved one’s name.

ESTACIONAMIENTO
RESERVADO
En el parque de estacionamiento contamos con un espacio reservado para los
sacerdotes que nos visitan marcado con
un letrero que dice “Reserved for
Clergy.” Favor de no estacionarse en
ese lugar. También hay espacios para
personas con necesidades especiales más cerca de la
puerta. Pedimos su ayuda en dejar libres estos espacios
para personas que realmente las necesitan.
SACRAMENTO
DE RECONCILIACION
Durante este tiempo de transición, y
hasta que no sea asignado un Ministro
Sacramental a nuestra parroquia no
contaremos con ningún Sacerdote
para las confesiones. Lamentamos los
inconvenientes y pedimos a ustedes que se acerquen a
alguna de nuestras parroquias hermanas para recibir este
sacramento.
En la parroquia de San Willebrord hay confesiones antes
de cada misa en español y de lunes a Viernes 7:00am y
11:30 am y en la parroquia de San Pedro y San Pablo los
sábados a las 3:30pm, domingos 8:30 & 10:00am.
Actualización del proyecto
de Renovación
El proyecto de renovación en nuestra parroquia va por buen camino,
tanto en Sacred Heart Hall y en el
antiguo salón de clases junto a la
oficina de la parroquia ya existente. Estamos esperando ansiosamente el termino de
este trabajo durante el mes de agosto. Agradecemos
a los feligreses que han ayudado con las actividades
de demolición, la pintura, y otros trabajos en el
proyecto! Si usted está interesado en ayudar, pero
aún no lo ha hecho, por favor comuníquese con la
oficina de la parroquia y vamos a tratar de encontrar la mejor oportunidad para usted.
LA VIRGEN PEREGRINA
Si alguno de ustedes le gustaría llevar a su
casa la imagen de la Virgen por primera
vez ,o si la tuvieron en el pasado y les gustaría llevarla de nuevo a su casa, es posible

Mensaje de Nuestra Líder Pastoral
Queridos hermanos y hermanas,
Nuestros días de verano están
terminando. Las escuelas abrirán
pronto y los horarios familiares serán
diferentes a los días de vacaciones de
verano. El cambio es inevitable.
Continuamos con los cambios aquí en
la parroquia, incluyendo el proyecto de construcción que
ha ido a toda velocidad en las últimas semanas. Está
cerca del final. Estamos muy agradecidos con los trabajadores que fueron contratados para la obra, nuestro personal y nuestros muchos voluntarios por el arduo trabajo
y la eficiencia para que este proyecto avanzara.
Nos reunimos una vez más en la Eucaristía como una
comunidad orante. Nos reunimos como personas de fe.
Una vida de fe se nutre en el hogar familiar, así como en
nuestra parroquia. Contamos con el apoyo de la gente
que nos rodea en la Misa que creen en Dios y traen
consigo sus esperanzas, sueños y peticiones. En nuestro
hogar, una vida de oración, bondad y generosidad nos
sostiene durante toda la semana.
Nuestro evangelio ofrece una hermosa reflexión sobre
la fe y perseverancia en la oración - la imagen de una
mujer abogando en nombre de su hija enferma. La imagen de la mujer da una sensación de desesperación. Ella
no pertenece a la misma cultura o creencia religiosa como
Jesús y sus discípulos. Su oración es escuchada porque
Jesús ve su gran valentía y fe.
La vida está llena de muchos misterios. Tal vez la
vida no es como nosotros desearíamos, pero esta es la
vida y la gente que Dios nos ha dado. ¿Podemos ver con
fe la imagen de Dios en estas personas? El Señor no nos
abandonará; nos ama a todos, a cada uno. Oremos individualmente y por otros para que Dios aumente nuestra fe
y el coraje dentro de nuestros corazones.
Señor, yo creo que Tú eres el Cristo, el Hijo del Dios viviente, quien dijo: “
" Todo es posible para aquellos que
creen". Yo creo. Ayuda mi incredulidad. Señor, aumenta
mi fe. Amén.

Para Reflexionar….
Puede que sea la condición humana, pero las
distinciones entre personas son frecuentes entre todas
las culturas. A veces a los hispanos les discriminan
precisamente personas que fueron inmigrantes.
También ocurría en tiempos de Jesús. La mujer que se
acerca no solo es mujer (cosa ya es su prejuicio por
ser considerada en los últimos peldaños de la
sociedad), sino que además era cananea. Había cruzado la frontera. A menudo, sin embargo, puede que el
prejuicio se convierta en admiración. Las personas
“distintas” sorprenden muchas veces por lo normales
que son. Quizá la persona con resistencia al otro se
esperara a alguien raro, distinto. Y se encuentra con un
ser humano, con sentimientos muy parecidos o
propios. Así le debió pasarle a Jesús con la mujer
cananea. En primer lugar, no debería ni hablar con ella
y tampoco se esperaría una fe tan profunda. Ella
insiste y demuestra que la fe no tiene fronteras de raza
ni de clase.
Hay veces en que nos hacemos victimas de la
incomprensión y discriminación a nosotros mismos,
como si fuera inevitable. Nos rechazan y nos deprimimos, pero si hiciésemos como la mujer cananea con fe,
animo e insistencia, podríamos sorprender con la
fuerza de nuestra confianza, nuestra fe, nuestra paz y
nuestra determinación de lograr lo que creemos justo
para nosotros mismos y para nuestra familia. Sorprenderíamos a los demás, a Jesús y a nosotros mismos. La
fe hace milagros así: no de cambiar las cosas alrededor, sino de cambiarnos a nosotros mismos.
