My dear friends, please read this excellent reflection

There is a certain incongruity about today’s Palm
Sunday liturgy. We begin with a sense of
celebration — we carry palm branches and echo the
Hosannas (from the Hebrew “God save [us]”)
shouted by the people of Jerusalem as Jesus enters
the city. But Luke’s account of the Passion
confronts us with the cruelty, injustice and
selfishness that lead to the crucifixion of Jesus. We
welcome the Christ of victory, the Christ of Palm
Sunday — but we turn away from the Christ of
suffering and of the poor, the Christ of Good
Friday. These branches of palm are symbols of that
incongruity that often exists between the faith we
profess on our lips and the faith we profess in our
lives.
Luke portrays, in his account of Jesus’ death, a
Christ of extraordinary compassion and love, who
forgives those who betray and destroy him, who
consoles those who grieve for him, whose final
breaths give comfort and hope to a condemned
criminal who seeks reconciliation with God. The
broken yet life-giving body of the Crucified Jesus
calls us to embrace that same “attitude” of Christ,
that we may bring the same healing, reconciliation
and hope to all the broken members of his body.
The Gospel calls us to take on what Paul calls the
“attitude of Christ Jesus” (Reading 1) in his passion
and death: to “empty” ourselves of our own
interests, fears and needs for the sake of others; to
realize how our actions affect them and how our
moral and ethical decisions impact the common
good; to reach out to heal the hurt and comfort the
despairing around us despite our own betrayal; to
carry on, with joy and in hope, despite rejection,
humiliation and suffering.

Nexo entre las lecturas
¡El dolor! Realidad histórica y designio de Dios.
Aquí está el centro del mensaje del Domingo de
Ramos. El Siervo de Yahveh (primera lectura) sufre
golpes, insultos y salivazos, pero el Señor le ayuda
y le enseña el sentido del dolor. San Pablo, en el
himno cristológico de la carta a los filipenses
(segunda lectura), canta a Cristo que "se despojó de
su grandeza, tomó la condición de esclavo". En la
narración de la Pasión según san Lucas, Jesús
afronta sufrimientos indecibles e incontables, a la
manera de un esclavo, pero sabe que todo está
dispuesto por el Padre y por ello confía al Padre su
espíritu.
Mensaje doctrinal
Cristo, varón de dolores. El sufrimiento de Cristo
puede medirse cuantitativamente, y ya así es
enorme. El valor supremo del dolor de Cristo radica
sobre todo en su cualidad. Cualidad que se basa
sobre tres pilares: Jesús es el hombre perfecto, que
experimenta y vive el sufrimiento con perfección;
Jesús es el Hijo de Dios, y por tanto es Dios mismo
quien sufre en Él; Jesús es el Redentor del mundo y
del hombre, que asume el dolor inyectando en él la
potencia salvífica de Dios. Por eso, en la vida de
Cristo, sobre todo en los acontecimientos de su
pasión y muerte, el dolor es una realidad histórica,
pero también mística, es solidaridad con el hombre,
y a la vez juicio y justificación del hombre pecador,
o sea, misterio de salvación. El relato de la pasión
según san Lucas nos lleva como de la mano a la
contemplación orante de Cristo en los diversos
episodios de este misterio de dolor: Contemplamos
el dolor contenido, discretamente manifestado, de
Jesús en el Cenáculo ante la traición de Judas (Lc
22, 22) o frente a la discusión inoportuna de los
discípulos sobre rangos y primeros puestos (Lc 22,
24ss). Vemos el dolor intenso, extenuante y
extremo en Getsemaní, hasta el punto de derramar
gotas de sangre a causa de la soledad, del abandono
de los hombres y de su mismo Padre, el peso del
pecado del mundo. Repasamos interiormente el
dolor inefable del amor renegado por Pedro, el
dolor dignísimo del amor burlado por la soldadesca
entre blasfemias y bajezas, el dolor noble del
inocente condenado por los jefes del pueblo y por el
poder dominante, el dolor sagrado y puro por la
deshonra que le ha sido infligida al ser pospuesto a
un criminal, el dolor físico de los clavos
traspasando sus manos y sus pies, y el último dolor
de la agonía. Cristo "varón de dolores y
familiarizado con el sufrimiento". Cristo que recoge
en su cuerpo y en su alma, como en un cuenco, todo
dolor y toda pena.
Cristo no está solo en su dolor. Ya el Siervo de
Yahvéh, figura de Cristo, tiene la seguridad de que,
en medio de sus dolores, "el Señor le ayuda"
(primera lectura). En Getsemaní el Padre le envía
un ángel, no para librarle del dolor, sino para
confortarlo (cf. Lc 22,43). Camino del Calvario le
acompaña un grupo de mujeres, "que se golpeaban
el pecho y se lamentaban por él" (Lc 23, 27).
Crucificado a la derecha de Jesús está el buen
ladrón, que reprende a su compañero de crímenes y
proclama la inocencia de Jesús: "Éste no ha hecho
nada malo". A lo largo de la pasión Jesús ha sentido
sea el abandono del Padre sea su íntima e inefable
compañía y proximidad, y por eso puede exclamar
antes de expirar: "Padre, a tus manos confío mi
espíritu". La glorificación del dolor de Cristo -y la
consiguiente solidaridad con Él- la señala san Lucas
después de su muerte mediante la confesión del
centurión: "verdaderamente este hombre era justo",
mediante el arrepentimiento de la multitud que
"volvía a la ciudad golpeándose el pecho" y sobre
todo mediante el anuncio a las mujeres que han
acudido al sepulcro: "No está aquí. Ha resucitado".
La segunda lectura subraya la cercanía de Dios a
Cristo obediente hasta la muerte con términos de
exaltación: "Le dio el nombre por encima de todo
nombre". Ni Dios ni el hombre dejaron a Cristo solo
en el dolor. Esta afirmación es válida para todo
hombre. El hombre, al igual que Jesús, encontrará
en los hombres la causa de su dolor, y en ellos
hallará también la presencia amiga y el consuelo
solidario.
