The program is for 7th grade - adults. 7th and 8th grade will attend this event on Wednesday, Jan. 27, instead of meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 26. Dinner will not be served that evening so that we can be in solidarity with the poor. We will meet in the Hall from 7-8:30 p.m. The first half of the evening, we will put lunch sacks together for the homeless who come to Sister B.J.’s Pantry in downtown OKC and care packages for women suffering from cancer. Speaking to the group will be Tarah Warren, who is a cancer survivor, and who started an organization called Tenaciously Teal, to minister to those battling the disease. Archdiocesan Development Fund Appeal (ADF) “To Know Christ and to Make Him Known,” is the theme of the 2016 Archdiocesan Development Fund Appeal (ADF) to be held Feb. 6 and 7 in our parish. We will have an opportunity to begin or renew our personal mission to be a servant to God’s people by starting our journey to become like Jesus Christ and by helping to make possible, through participation in the 2016 ADF Appeal. ARTIST WAY CLASS Would you like to get closer to God the Creator, in Whose image we are made, by developing your own creativity? Steubenville Conference for 8th-12th Grade $50 Deposit is due Feb. 5 All 8th - 12th grade students are invited to attend the Steubenville National Youth Conference to be held Friday, July 8, through Monday, July 11, in Springfield, MO, which also includes a trip to Silver Dollar City in Branson, MO. Total cost of the trip is $295 and includes 3-day conference, hotel accommodations, park admission, all meals and two T-shirts. A $50 deposit is due by Friday, Feb. 5, to secure a spot. January 24, 2016 ACCW plans Mass, bus ride to Capitol for pro-life rally The Archdiocesan Council of Catholic Women is providing a chartered bus to transport participants to this year’s Rose Day, the pro-life event, Wednesday, Feb. 3, held each year at the state Capitol. The group will celebrate Mass at 7:30 a.m. in the Meerschaert House at Saint Francis of Assisi Church, 1901 N.W. 18. Following Mass, a free light breakfast will be served in the Kelley Room before heading to the Capitol. The round trip cost will be $15 per person. On Rose Day, red roses are presented to state legislators as a symbol of the sanctity of life. The red rose also symbolizes the participant's pro-life stance and the desire that Oklahoma lawmakers support pro-life issues. Those attending are asked to bring four red roses - one each for the governor, lieutenant governor and the participant’s state representative and senator. Parish Staff to Place/Pick-Up Orders In an effort to be more fiscally proactive and to better assist dedicated volunteers, parish staff will now place and pick up all orders in advance to meet various parish needs. Please contact the Parish Office at 359-2700 if you need materials, items, or food for your ministry and allow one week lead time so preparations can be made. Silent Retreat "Silence is God's Music." Come away for a weekend Silent Retreat where you can develop your creativity, work on a project, discern your path, just rest and get closer to God. The dates are Friday, March 4, beginning at 9 a.m. through Sunday, March 6 at Noon. The retreat is at the Pastoral Center and is facilitated by Katie Gordy, who will give three talks on the role of creativity in our spirituality. Men and women are welcome. Speakers will be Daniel Cardinal Bernardo, Archbishop of Houston; Curtis Martin, founder and CEO of FOCUS (Fellowship of Catholic University Students); Kevin Reilly, former NFL player, cancer survivor, amputee and motivational speaker and Dr. Kevin Vost, author, speaker and professor.
