to help, we typically provide gas

needs we have a separate account
called the charity account. Next
week’s second collection will benefit this account. Thank you for your
generosity. It allows us to continue
to serve those most in need.

Worship
Worship Ministry at St. Stephen’s Church
Environment and Art
This group is responsible for changing the worship environment for each
of the liturgical seasons throughout the year. This might include ironing, hauling, carrying, sewing, ladder work, painting, refinishing, plant
watering, and maintenance and placement of banners, floral bouquets,
plants and trees as needed throughout the year. Time commitment can
vary and all are welcome. No special skills required. Training often occurs
on the job!
Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist
Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist distribute the Body and Blood
of Christ at weekend and holiday liturgies. Ministers need to be 18 years
old. They are trained and commissioned every six years. Many ministers
are required for this large parish.
Ushers
These ministers are essential at every weekend and holiday liturgy. They
greet people and direct them to seating at the beginning of liturgy. They
take up the collection and help to organize both the gift procession and
the communion procession. Families are welcome to serve together.
Liturgy of the Word with Children
Liturgy of the Word with children in a separate space is offered most
Sundays at the 9:30 a.m. Mass. Lay Leaders of Prayer, team members to
assist them, and musicians are all needed.
Music Ministers
At this time the Music Ministry consists of one traditional Adult Choir,
four Contemporary Music Ensembles, a Teen Music Ensemble, A Youth
Choir, a Handbell Choir, a Brass Ensemble and a String Ensemble. There
are cantors who work independently of the choirs and there are many
accompanists who work with choirs and cantors.

May Crowning of Statue of Mary This Week
May Crownings are a tradition in many Catholic Churches around the
world during the first week of May to honor the Month of Mary. The Faith
Formation Department will once again sponsor a May Crowning of the
statue of Mary. We invite all parishioners to join us as we honor Mary on
Tuesday, May 3 or Wednesday, May 4 at 6:15 p.m. in the Church. Bring
a flower for Our Lady if you would like to join us in the Mary procession.
High School Open Youth Room and Gym
Come relax and have fun with friends on Wednesday, May 11 from
7-9:00 p.m. in The Refuge. We will have snacks, pop, music, games, a Nintendo Wii, access to the gym and a fun atmosphere to just talk and hang

Go and Make
Disciples of All
Nations (Mt 28:19)
Join us May 8, 15, and 22 at
9:40 a.m. in The Refuge for a series of presentations by Fr. Joe
Kuharski.
Jesus sends each one of us out on
mission to spread our faith with
joy. As Catholics, why is it that we
often shy away from evangelization? Why do we miss out on opportunities
we already
have
to
evangelize,
and how
do we look
for new opportunities? In this
three-part series, Fr. Joe will put
evangelization in the modern religious context, while providing
some basic training and practical initiatives to spread the good
news of our Catholic faith.
Remember to Register
for 2016-17 Faith

School
All Kinds of Saints
Mrs. Mary Kay Tymiski, First Grade Teacher
In our Religion class, we have been learning about Saints and how they
show their love. We have been reading about St. Martin and how he
shared his coat with a homeless
person, St. Kateri, who told Native American children about
God, St. Philip, who liked to laugh
and make others laugh, and of
course, the greatest Saint of all...
Mary. She was the Mother of Jesus and took care of him.
We also talked about how we can
become saints. We need to treat
everyone with kindness, pray every day, think about other people, and
love others as Jesus did.
We also made halos as a reminder that we can also become saints!

Faith: As a vital part of the parish
community, we educate students in a
Catholic atmosphere enriched by the
Gospel messages of peace and justice.
The spiritual development of students is
the primary goal. The school recognizes
that a person's faith is formed by living
out that faith in community through
prayer, worship, service and study; and
grounded in our Catholic tradition.
Academics: In partnership with their
family, each student is encouraged and
directed to reach his or her potential.
Our academic program emphasizes mastery of the basics, academic excellence,
and a variety of extracurricular activities.
The school prepares students to be fully
equipped for their next level of academic
achievement.
Community: The school seeks to provide
a safe and trusting learning environment
where each student is valued and challenged to grow spiritually, academically,
emotionally, socially, and physically.

Pastoral Care
Reflection on John 14:23-29
Sister Mary Anne Schaenzer
Do not let your hearts
be troubled or afraid.
Whoever loves me will keep my word,
and my Father will love him…
The Father, Son and Holy Spirit
will come to us
and make their dwelling with us.
[How can we be troubled or afraid?]
And the Advocate, the Holy Spirit
will teach you everything
and remind you of all that I told you.
[How can we be troubled or afraid?]
But when we are troubled and afraid
Let us also hear these words of Jesus:
“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you.
Not as the world gives do I give to you.”
Let us wish this deep peace to and for one another.
Speaker to Address Sacredness at the
End of Human Life

issues, threats to human dignity, such as euthanasia and assisted suicide. Also learn how a Catholic Health Care Directive can help ensure
that human dignity is respected.
You Can Help WHO Feed Starving Children
Join the WHO (We Help Others) group the first Wednesday of the
month as we spend the morning packing food to help prevent children
from starving throughout the world. Meet us May 4 at 9:15 a.m. at
Feed My Starving Children, 401 93rd Avenue NW
in Coon Rapids. Thanks to all who have responded in
the past. We make a commitment for a certain number and it is very important that we fulfill our obligation. If you are able
to help, please contact Gayl at 763-422-0024. Thank you for considering this worthwhile cause. Hope to see you there!

Stewardship Reflection
“…do not let your hearts be troubled or afraid.” John 14:27
Our limited human
understanding cannot
begin to understand
the immense power of
God. Instead of trusting in God, we think we
can control every outcome. Do you want to
make God laugh? Tell
Him your plans. The next time worry, anxiety or fear creeps in, thank God
for all He has given you and trust He has a better plan for you.
Ordination to the Priesthood
Deacon Patrick Ronald Parks has been approved for ordination to the
priesthood on June 4, 2016 at the Cathedral of St. Mary in Fargo, North
Dakota. Deacon Patrick was baptized at St. Stephen’s Church. Please
remember him in your prayers.

Compra

Trae a tus amigos.
Tú Puedes Ayudar a Dar De Comer A Los Niños
Hambrientos
Si nos puedes ayudar, llama a Gayl at 763-422-0024. Gracias

resultado. ¿Quieres hacer reír a
Dios?
Pronto vamos a estar
