Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual
light shine upon them. May the souls of the faithful
departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
Take a look around the walls of your
church. Even if it’s only a year or two
old, the word “Amen” has resounded
off those walls countless times at the
conclusion of the Eucharistic Prayer
and as the faithful have come forward
to receive the Body and Blood of Christ. Today’s feast is
about those “Amens” offered in faith, offered in times of
trouble or doubt, spoken in joy, spoken mindlessly, but all
given to God in a multitude of ways. It is our very lives
that lie behind our “Amens” and are touched by the
presence of Christ, the presence we celebrate today.
More importantly, we celebrate the love of Christ for us
shown in the sacrifice on Calvary and that he continues
to give to us in every celebration of the Eucharist. What
can we do but rejoice in that great love, and then go out
into the world and live that love in sacrificing for others?
PONTIFICAL MISSION SOCIETIES
Missionaries throughout the world continue to bring the
Gospel to the poor and needy. During the summer, the
Pontifical Mission Societies help local missionaries who
work in Mission dioceses, those where the Church is new,
young or poor, until they are self-sufficient. Fr. Rogatus
Mpeka, from the diocese of Morogoro, Tanzania, will speak
to you today about the essential mission work of the Church
and give you an opportunity to share in their specific ministry
through the Missionary Cooperation Plan appeals.

~Reflection~
Today is a day for reminders. Each of the three scripture readings contains reminders of the fact that God
nourishes us for our journey through life. Moses tells the people not to forget the Lord, who fed them with
manna in the desert. Saint Paul reminds the Corinthians that the bread that is broken and the cup that is
blessed constitute participation in the body and blood of Christ. And, at the heart of it all, today we hear the
Lord Jesus announce that he is the living bread that came down from heaven. “Whoever eats this bread will
live forever.” Let us pay close attention to the words and gestures of the Mass, and when it comes time for
Communion, let us approach the Lord with humility of heart and offer a prayer of gratitude for this gift
beyond measure.

STAMP
Students who enroll in STAMP (Students at Museums
in Philly) will receive the STAMP Pass, a card that they
can use to get free admission to some of the city’s top
museums and cultural venues. The Stamp Pass is
available for FREE to children ages 14 to 19, who live in
Philadelphia. They can register for the pass by visiting

News from West Catholic Alumni Association
Each summer, the alumni and friends of West Catholic
High School host a reunion, and all of the proceeds are
given to the school to provide tuition assistance for
Catholic students. Each year, approximately 60 students
receive support, which helps them receive the benefits of
a Catholic education. This year, the 27th Annual “Burrs
at the Beach” celebration will be held, rain or shine, on
Sunday, July 6, 2014, from 1 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Westy’s
Irish Pub in North Wildwood, featuring the band
“Blackthorn.” Tickets are $20 in advance, $25 the day of
the event. For tickets and information about bus

Hoy es un día de recordatorios. Cada una de las tres lecturas de las Escrituras contiene recordatorios de que
Dios nos da el alimento para nuestro caminar por la vida. Moisés le dice al pueblo que no se olvide del
Señor, que los alimentó con el maná en el desierto. San Pablo le recuerda a los corintios que el pan que
partimos y el cáliz de la bendición constituyen una participación en el Cuerpo y la Sangre de Cristo. Y al
centro de todo escuchamos hoy al Señor Jesús anunciando que él es el pan vivo que ha bajado del cielo. “El
que coma de este pan vivirá para siempre”. Prestemos particular atención a las palabras y los gestos de la
Misa, y cuando llegue el momento de la Comunión acerquémonos al Señor con un corazón humilde y con una
oración de gratitud por este don inmensurable.

SACRAMENT OF BAPTISM: The Sacrament of Baptism is
administered monthly. Arrangements are made in advance at
the Rectory. Sponsors must provide proof of eligibility by a
letter from their respective pastors, and must have received the
Sacraments of Baptism, Communion, and Confirmation.
Parents attend a Pre-Jordan meeting prior to baptism, which is
arranged at a mutually convenient time.

made with a priest at least six months before the date of the
