Hans Director of Quality Assurance C 0297 Directions for Use of Minisart 1. Introduction Application areas: Sterile filtration and ultracleaning of liquids: 0.2 µm pore size Particulate removal from liquids; microbial reduction filtration and particulate removal from dry air and gases: 0.45 µm and 0.8 µm pore size Clarification and prefiltration: 1.2 µm and 5 µm pore size General Information Before using a Minisart for sterile filtration, make sure that the blister package is intact. Minisarts are designed to filter in either direction (bidirectional). However, once you start filtering in one direction, do not reverse it. During handling, make sure to avoid contamination of the filtrate outlet and the attached accessories (e.g., needle). If the pressure required to maintain the filtrate flow becomes too high, the filter unit should be changed. Minisart has been tested for its suitability for in vivo use in conformance with the applicable regulations and guidelines. It does not contain any toxins. Never resterilize or reuse a Minisart filter unit. Take care when using syringes with a volume less than 10 ml and the dosing syringe, 16685, since they can generate a pressure greater than the burst pressure rating for Minisart housings. 2. Particulate Removal, Clarification, Prefiltration, Sterile Filtration of Liquids 3.1 Remove a Minisart from the box containing individual blister units. 3.2 For liquid filtration, draw liquid into a syringe that has a luer lock connector. 3.3 Starting at one corner, peel the protective backing off the blister part. 3.4 Hold the blister part in one hand. Connect the syringe to the luer inlet of the syringe filter holder. 3.5 If necessary, attach a sterile needle (for a male luer slip) to the outlet of the Minisart and remove the protective cap. 3.5.1 Hold the syringe and Minisart assembly with the luer outlet or needle pointing upwards. Slowly press in the plunger until a bead of liquid exits from the outlet or needle. This assures proper wetting of the membrane filter and prevents air bubbles. 3.5.2 Filter the contents of the syringe into a flask, bottle or other kind of receiver vessel. 3.5.3 If you need to spike a closure (it must be spikable), for instance, first use a suitable disinfectant, such as 70% alcohol, to disinfect the site to be pierced. 3.6 Upon completion of filtration, discard the syringe filter holder (if you are working with radioactive or infectious material, observe the regulations for disposal). No contiene ningunas sustancias tóxicas. No.: SL-6085-p00082 · W493.015 · M 16534, 16555, 16592,17593, 17594, 17597, 17598 85030-511-93 Minisart ® Certificate of Quality Minisart has been manufactured in a Sartorius facility in compliance with GMP/ ISO 9001 regulations.
