salvación. Tu mirada llena de amor liberó a Zaqueo y a Mateo
de la esclavitud del dinero; a la adúltera y a la Magdalena de
buscar la felicidad solamente en una creatura; hizo llorar a
Pedro luego de la traición, y aseguró el Paraíso al ladrón
arrepentido. Haz que cada uno de nosotros escuche como

Mission Appeal This Weekend
Welcome to Fr. Andrew Muliika, from the Diocese of Burate, Rawanda,
who is visiting our parish this weekend to ask for our prayers and financial support. He will celebrate all the English Masses and preach at the
two evening Masses in Spanish.
Rwanda is a small country in the heart of Africa that in 1994 experienced a politically motivated, horrific genocide during which one million
people were murdered in approximately 100 days! The challenge is to
rebuild the nation and to help people recover. The diocese accomplishes
this through Catholic education. Rwanda is a Christian country; more
than 60% are Catholic. Envelopes for your contribution are available in
the pews and also on the kiosks. Checks should be made payable to Cathedral Parish—the parish forwards one check for the total collection.
Eucharistic Adoration in Chapel This Wednesday
This Wednesday, August 10th, Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament will
not be held in the main church but will remain in the Chapel. Thus, Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament will not be held before the 5:15 pm
Mass. There will be no extra confessions for the Year of Mercy this
Wednesday evening, normally held from 6-8 pm.

 ENCOUNTERING JESUS 
Dear Friends in Christ:
‘Everything in our life, today as in the time of Jesus, begins with an encounter. An encounter with this Man, the carpenter from Nazareth, a
man like all men and at the same time different.’ This quote from Pope
Francis is a vivid reminder that the heart of Catholicism is the Person of
Jesus Christ and that being Catholic is
fundamentally learning to know, love,
and follow Him with our whole lives.
I have been contemplating this reality
lately as we prepare for a new session of
RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation for
Adults). While the language sounds
rather elevated, RCIA is simply the venue for adults who are interested in becoming Catholic, or even just curious
about Catholicism, to come and ask
their questions and learn about Catholicism all in the context of encountering
Jesus Christ. RCIA is also a great space
for adult Catholics who were never Confirmed or received their first
Eucharist to come grow in knowledge and love of Jesus as a way of
preparation to receive those wonderful sacraments.
I am delighted to share with you that the first eight weeks of our RCIA
sessions will be prime opportunities for inquiring people to encounter
Jesus. Each session will feature a different encounter between Jesus and
another person from the Gospels, along with a meditation on that encounter, a cultural or artistic element that helps us appreciate the encounter, and finally, a personal reflection from one of the group leaders
on how they live out their own encounter with Jesus. After the first two
months of ‘Encountering Jesus’ sessions, we will spend the rest of the
year unpacking the ‘Big Picture’ of the Catholic Faith - contemplating
how all the beliefs, prayers, practices, etc. that are part of Catholicism fit
together into one organic whole and lead us to deeper union with Jesus
Christ.
If you or someone you know is interested in becoming Catholic, curious
about Catholicism, or is a Catholic who has not received Eucharist and/
or Confirmation, I heartily invite you to join us for our first
‘Encountering Jesus’ session on Tuesday, September 6th!
For all the rest of you adult Catholics, I warmly invite you to join our
RCIA sessions in November when we transition to ‘The Main Event’
program that journeys through the ‘Big Picture’ of the Catholic
Faith. And stay tuned for next week’s bulletin letter where I will share
some other opportunities for ongoing faith formation for adults!

Come out for a Holy Hour with other young adults from around the Diocese of Madison on Friday, August 12th, 7:00 pm at St. Bernard Church,
2450 Atwood Avenue, Madison. The evening includes Eucharistic Adoration, Reconciliation, and a meditation given by a priest. After the
event, we gather for socializing at a local establishment. This is a great
way to meet friends and deepen your faith!

Confío en Ti, Señor
Confío en Ti, porque eres completamente de fiar. Eres la misericordia
sin orillas ni fronteras. Misericordia que ha perdonado, perdona y seguirá perdonando. Cuanto necesito de esa misericordia y bondad, yo que
soy tan pecador. Espero en Ti porque eres la
misericordia infinita. Si yo supiera, si yo creyera
que tu bondad y misericordia no tienen medida,
me sentiría para siempre seguro y tranquilo. Si
eres la misericordia infinita, haz que sea también infinita mi confianza. Todo lo perdonas,
aun los más horrendos pecados, si hay un poco
de arrepentimiento y humildad. No cabe desesperanza en el corazón de los más grandes pecadores. El perdón de Dios siempre es mayor. Espero en Ti porque eres fiel a tus promesas. Tú
cumples siempre. El hombre casi nunca. Por eso
tengo la certeza de tus promesas. Un día las disfrutaré de seguro. Mientras alimento mi esperanza. La confianza tan necesaria. Las penas son grandes a veces y la
esperanza no alcanza. Él nos ha dicho: “Confiad totalmente en Mí.”
Nuestra mente nos dice: No saldrás del hoyo. Así piensan los que se suicidan. Jesús dice: “No os preocupéis.” Nuestro refrigerador vacío, la tarjeta vencida, los pagos de la casa sin hacer, la falta de trabajo, no tienes
remedio. La mente y los ojos ven, constatan y deciden en consecuencia.
No hay remedio. La fe no constata, se fía de un ser omnipotente e infinitamente misericordioso y elige confiar a pesar de todas las evidencias.
Realmente para Dios el resolver mis problemas es de risa. No le cuesta
nada, nada. Y pensar que sólo depende de que yo haga un acto de fe y
confianza. Jesús en Ti confío. Todo lo obtendréis. Reto a cada uno de
mis oyentes a que tengan esta clase de fe que mueve montañas. La fe
mueve montañas, sí, pero solo las que uno se atreve a mover.
Les decía que para los que no tienen trabajo, y sí muchas deudas empiecen a dar algo de lo que todavía tienen, que pidan por los más necesitados que ellos. Y se llevarán la gran sorpresa, Pero esto sólo lo harán los
que tienen confianza en Dios. Problemas de un esposo, hijo o hija que está
tercamente alejado de Dios…Oren con confianza inquebrantable de que
Dios les concederá la gracia pedida. Pero deben superar la gran prueba: el
no ver resultados durante un tiempo o incluso el ver que la situación empeora. Confiar significa continuar orando con la misma seguridad. Y el
milagro llegará. Ha llegado ya para muchos y muchas que han orado con
esa confianza. En el evangelio no hay ni un caso de enfermedad o necesidad que no haya sido atendido cuando Cristo encontró una fe como ésa.

Problemas duros: Mi hijo está en la cárcel, estoy en quiebra económica,
mi matrimonio anda naufragando. Alguien de mi familia se fue a otra
religión, o anda muy alejado de Dios. Esas personas tienen un reto valiente: La confianza mayor que el problema. La misma confianza que tienes
en Dios, tenla en María Santísima. Si ustedes que son malos dan buenas
cosas a sus hijos, cuanto más vuestro padre celestial... Si ustedes que son
malos dan buenas cosas a sus hijos, cuanto más vuestra madre Celestial…

¿Crees que Ella no puede, crees que Ella no quiere...? El amor que
Ella te tiene es como para darte todas las cosas del mundo, con más
razón la pequeña cosa que le pides. Problema de confianza, siempre es
problema de confianza. ¿Cómo se adquiere la confianza? Pidiéndosela
a Dios y a María Santísima y ejercitándola en pequeños y repetidos
actos de confianza. Confío en que me ayudarás a tener hoy qué comer,
cómo pagar mis deudas, como conseguir trabajo, cómo lograr que mi
hijo o hija regrese al buen camino. Hay, además, una fórmula secreta
para obtener cosas que uno necesita: y consiste en dar. Parece contradictoria pues, si no tengo, qué voy a dar. Siempre el más pobre puede
dar algo de lo que tiene. Al dar algo parece empobrecerse de momento, pero hay una ley que se cumple siempre: el que da, recibe. Claro, al
que no está acostumbrado a ese modo de proceder o no lo ha experimentado, le cuesta creerlo. Pero yo le reto a que haga la prueba. Muchos y muchas de Uds. han dado un ejemplo de esto: comprometerse
con una ofrenda de amor mensual sin saber si van a tener. Pueden estar seguros que se cumplirá lo del profeta Elías con la viuda de Sarepta: No faltará la harina ni el aceite en tu casa hasta que Dios mande la
lluvia del cielo. Y así sucedió. Los que han hecho anteriormente la experiencia, lo saben.
Dejo en tus manos, Señor, mi vida entera: Mi pasado, mi presente y
mi futuro. También el día de mi muerte. Yo no sé cuándo será ni cómo, pero no importa. Me importa que lo sepan las dos personas que
más me aman en este mundo, Tú y tu Madre santísima que es también
mía. Por eso no tengo miedo a la muerte.

Peregrinación
La Parroquia de la Catedral está organizando una peregrinación al Santuario de Nuestra Señora de La Salette para el 24 de septiembre de 2016.
Salimos a las 8:30 am de la Iglesia de Holy Redeemer. La Salette en Twin
Lakes es una replica del lugar de la aparición de nuestra madre santísima
en Francia. También tiene hermosas santuarios dedicados a Jesús y a
nuestra Madre Santísima.
La inscripción para todas las personas que quieran ir esta abierta hasta
el 8 de septiembre. Niños mayores de 4 años pagan asiento completo en el
bus. Y menores de 3 años deben ir en las faldas de los padres, no ocupan
asiento. La hoja de inscripción esta en el kiosco y también la pueden bajar
de nuestra pagina en Facebook. Su espacio será reservado con el pago del
registro y el dinero no es reembolsable. El costo de la peregrinación es de
$25. Cada uno llevará su propio almuerzo. En el Santuario hay mesas de
picnic. Tendremos Misa dominical en los jardines del santuario.
Si viaja en su carro, igual deben llenar la hoja de registro para la peregrinación mas el pago de $10 por persona incluyendo niños mayores de 4
años. Este pago es solicitado por los sacerdotes del santuario para el mantenimiento del mismo. **La Salette queda aproximadamente a 1 1/2
hora, en auto, de distancia de Madison.

EDUCACIÓN RELIGIOSA
Inscripciones
Continúan las inscripciones, y terminan el
viernes 26 del mismo a las 2:00 pm. Los formatos de inscripción están en el kiosco y deben
de llevarlos con los documentos y pago correspondiente a la oficina parroquial los miércoles,
jueves y viernes de 8:30 am a 12m y de 1:00 a
2:30 pm. Las inscripciones son con Maria Culligan. También estaremos recibiendo inscripciones en el comedor de Holy Redeemer los
sábados 13 y 20 de agosto de 9:00 am a 12:00
m. para su comodidad si es que todavía hay
cupos disponibles, recuerden que ya que hay
un límite de 20 alumnos por grado y es cupo
se da por orden de llegada y pago. Así mismo,
es muy importante que sepan al grado escolar
que su hijo(a) va en el otoño. En el momento
de la inscripción, se le pide que entregue copia
del acta de nacimiento y cualquier certificado
que pueda tener si recibió otro sacramento. El
depósito, no-reembolsable del 50% por niño,
se paga al momento de la inscripción.
Sacramentos para Adultos
Las clases para los adultos que necesitan el Sacramento de Bautismo, Primera Comunión o
Confirmación, son los miércoles de 6:00 a 8:00
pm en el edificio de Educación Religiosa. Las
hojas de inscripción están en el kiosco. Al momento de la inscripción, entregue copia del acta
de nacimiento y, si ya recibió algún sacramento,
copia del mismo.
Requisitos para Matrimonio
Los novios deben presentar: A) Acta de bautismo actualizada para matrimonio; B) Copia del
acta de nacimiento. D) Si están casados por lo
civil, presentar copia del acta; E) Acta de confirmación.
En caso de que a alguno de los contrayentes le
faltara algún sacramento, por favor llame a la
oficina parroquial para mayor información o
inscribirse en el programa de Educación Religiosa para adultos.
También deben de asistir a 3 platicas dadas
por la diócesis: A) Amor Real. B) Plan de Dios.
C) Tomar una clase de Planificación Familiar
