Born in Mexico, Alejandro Gómez de Tuddo divides his time between Rome
and Mexico City.
He has studied photography at the École Nationale de Photographie of Arles in France,
and at the International Center of Photography (ICP) of New York. He has also studied
cinematography at New York University (NYU). He obtained a degree in Law at the
Universidad Iberoamericana of Mexico City and a Masters degree in International
Economic Law at the Université de Paris I (Panthéon-Sorbonne).
His work has been exhibited worldwide in museums, galleries, art fairs and festivals, and
now belongs to several private and public collections across the globe.
Some of his personal exhibitions and installations are: Pantonecropolis (AuditoriumArte,
Rome), K-I & Hasht-Bihisht (City Assembly Hall, Dublin), INDIA 50/50 (Instituto Cervantes,
New Delhi, Tasveer Gallery, Bangalore & The Copper House, Dublin), Transcapes (The
Helix, Dublin), in mihiyotzin in motlahtoltzin (Baptistery of the Duomo of Volterra, Italy),
DSM Mental Health Department (Museo de Arte Contemporáneo AZ, Morelia, Mexico),
Vmbra Profvnda Svmvs (Museo de Arte Moderno, Mexico City and Centro de las Artes of
Monterrey, Mexico), Hay Tiempo (Getty Museum, Los Angeles, U.S.A.), Gioco mortale: la
vita (Istituto Italo Latinoamericano, Rome, Italy), Filottete (Istituto Svizzero, Rome, Italy)
and Diario (Università di Roma III, Italy).
His group shows include: The Hidden Mother (Atelier Rouart, Paris, France), Rituals &
Sacred Spaces (Califia Gallery, Horazdovice, Czech Republic), Arte Pará (Pará do Brasil,
Brasil), Atlante Latinoamericano (Futura Gallery, Prague, Czech Republic), Principio de
incertidumbre (Centro de las Artes, Monterrey, Mexico), Mexico Attacks (Museo de Arte y
Diseño Contemporáneos, Costa Rica), Field of Depth (Latin Collector Gallery, New York,
U.S.A.) and Diario di Artisti Stranieri a Roma, (Galleria d'Arte Moderna, Rome, Italy).
His work has also been shown at contemporary art festivals, fairs and bienalli, such as:
ARCO (Madrid), MACO (Mexico City), Berliner Festspiele (Berlin), Mois Européen de la
Photo (Nice), Delhi Photo Festival, Premio Suzzara, Biennale Adriatica di Arti Nuove and
Festival Internazionale di Fotografia in Italy.
Alejandro Gómez de Tuddo was recipient of the prestigious Fondo Nacional para la
Cultura y las Artes grant, for his film El Niño Fidencio and his Brothers in Light, short-listed
by several international film festivals, and is founder of Uroboros-Basilisco art press.
