All Souls Day Mass Schedule Monday November 2nd 9:00 am (English) 12:15 pm (English) 7:00 pm (Spanish) All Souls Masses The month of November is traditionally a time to remember and to pray for our beloved dead. Beginning on Monday November 2nd and continuing through November 10th, a novena of Masses will be offered for the faithful departed. Please make use of the specially marked envelopes that are available in the Church and return them in the parish collection or at the office prior to November 2nd. 2016 Mass Intentions Parish Mass Intentions for 2016 may be scheduled at the parish office. As a way to enable those who wish to schedule intentions at parish Masses, the initial limit will be 12 scheduled Masses per family. The offering is $15.00. Gate of Heaven Cemetery Bus Trip St. Joseph Council Knights of Columbus is having their annual bus trip to Gate of Heaven Cemetery on Sunday November 1st sponsored by Riverdale Funeral Home. After a pick‐up at Good Shepherd Church, the bus will be stopping outside St. John‐Visitation Church at 11:15 am. Tickets are $10 person. For reservations, please call Jim Nolan (718)796‐5432. Gerald T. Walsh A Historic Canonization Last Sunday's canonization of Louis Martin and Zelie Guérin, the parents of St. Therese Lisieux marked the first time in the Church's history that a married couple was canonized as saints together. The timing is significant since this historic event took place during the Bishops' Synod on Family Life in the Modern World. During the homily at the Mass, Pope Francis noted: "The holy spouses Louis Martin and Marie‐

Did You Know? The derivation of “Halloween” comes from the alliteration of the two words “Hallows’ Eve” which refers to the eve or vigil of “All Hallows” or more commonly known as “All Saints”. Each year the Church celebrates the “Feast of All Saints” or “All Saints Day” on November 1st. The day prior, October 31st is the eve or vigil of this holy day. Hence, the origin of this word and popularly used phrase, “Halloween”. Catholic Regional School Families Families whose children attend Catholic Regional Schools and would like to celebrate the Sacraments (Baptism, Reconciliation, Holy Eucharist, and Confirmation) at St. John‐Visitation Parish are reminded to contact Fr. Kerrigan to schedule an appointment to discuss this possibility since sacraments are celebrated in parishes, not schools. Please do not delay in this regard. Walsh Un Canonización Histórico Canonización de Luis Martin y Celia Guérin del domingo pasado, los padres de Santa Teresita de Lisieux fue la primera vez en la historia de la Iglesia que una pareja casada fueron canonizados como santos juntos.
