Who is My Neighbor?
Sunday, September 22, 2013
3:30 – 5:30 p.m.
St. Ambrose Center (Gym)
St. Monica is hosting a special event entitled “Who is My Neighbor?” based on the
Gospel of Luke, Chapter 10. Like the unselfish Samaritan man of Jesus' parable, we are
called to extend our love and concern to all persons everywhere, as our neighbors, not
just our friends, family members, and countrymen.
All parishioners and guests are invited to come meet some of their “neighbors” in St.
Monica parish and get to know them better. Together, we will pray and discern about
who our neighbors are. We’ll hear from a panel of parishioners about their life/faith
stories, including their backgrounds, where they are spiritually, how their backgrounds
and life experiences have shaped who they are and where they have experienced God in
their lives.
This is the second of three events celebrating St. Monica Parish as "One Body, Immersed
in Christ":
The St. Monica Parish Festival (held August 24)
Who is my Neighbor (September 22)
The Sister Parish 10th Anniversary Fiesta (October 5)
“Anyone who needs me, and whom I can help, is my neighbor.” -Pope Benedict XVI,
Deus Caritas Est
Please sign up in the narthex by Monday September 16th to help us plan for this event.
You may also register at the St. Monica Web site: www.stmonicaindy.org
Kairos Prison Ministry
I was in prison and you visited me. Matthew 25:36-37
The men of the Kairos Prison Ministry will be going into Plainfield
Correctional Facility October 10-13 to bring the word of God’s
Unconditional Love and Forgiveness to the prisoners there, and we
need your help. We need you to pray for the Holy Spirit to use us to
bring God’s Word to the men. We will be in the Narthex after Masses
on the weekend of September 21-22 to ask for your prayers. Please drop by and sign up
to pray for our efforts, and to learn more about our ministry to those ‘lost sheep’ of the
Lord currently in our prisons.
Rehearsals for Children’s Choir
The next Children's Choir rehearsal is Monday, September 16 from 6-7 p.m. in the
church. The choir is open to all children from 2nd through 5th grade, and will sing at
the 5:30 p.m. mass on Saturday, September 21. Children must attend the Monday
rehearsal in order to sing at the mass. You can get a registration form on the Music
Ministry page on the St. Monica website, or contact Christine Seitz in the Parish Office:
[email protected]; or 253-2193, ext. 6.
Sister Parish Reflections: Noah Bush
Going to Honduras was one of the best experiences I have ever had. It was very
humbling and eye opening. It makes you realize how much we have. Some people down
there don’t have running water or electricity. I wasn’t nervous at all going down there.
But I think some of the other people were. I was very excited to go down and visit
friends. After the first mass on the first day I said to my dad, “I can’t wait to come back”.

community-we all know someone who is affected by an addiction of some sort. Please

Fatima Retreat House Chapel, where we will lift up in prayer those who are afflicted and
affected by addictions of any kind. Please contact us at [email protected] with
any questions.

Reflexiones de Nuestra Parroquia Hermana: Noah
Bush
El ir a Honduras fue una de las mejores experiencias que he tenido. Fue muy humilde y
un abrir de ojos para mí. Te hace darte cuenta de lo mucho que tenemos. Algunas
personas allá no tienen agua potable o electricidad.

Juntos, oraremos y vamos a

Parish Pastoral Council (PPC)
The Parish Pastoral Council is a consultative body of
parishioners who assist the Pastor in guiding the parish on issues
requiring practical wisdom and investigation. The PPC has three
purposes: 1) to investigate pastoral matters; 2) to give these
matters in-depth consideration and prayer; and 3) to propose
practical conclusions and assist in cultivating our vision. Twelve
parishioners discerned their participation on PPC for a threeyear term through June 30, 2015 related to the parish theme of
“Immersed in Christ: One Body. One Mission.” The PPC meets
the second Wednesday of the month. All parishioners are
welcome to attend! The next meeting is October 9 from
