Student Council News: Student council will be selling
tickets for the STAAR relief dance for $2.00 each. The cost of
the car wash is $5.00 for cars and $8.00 for trucks/SUVs.
Nurse News: Since it is spring time, our students might be
experiencing allergies. Please make sure students are taking
their allergy medications and have their inhalers available.
Also, April 4-8th is Healthy Texas Week.
Save your Receipts: If you have a smartphone, there is an
app that can help raise money for our school. The name of
the app is Shoparoo. Shoparoo accepts both grocery and
non-grocery receipts. If you need help with this, please don’t
hesitate to call the front office.
Character Education: In the month of April, students will be
learning about self-discipline. Please practice this character
trait with your child(ren).

Tutorial Changes
As we approach the upcoming STAAR assessments (May 9-11), we have made some changes to
tutorials for students in grades 3rd-5th. Tutorials will only be on Saturdays (April 2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd,
and 30th) from 9:00am-12:00pm. Students who will be invited to attend will be receiving letters from
their teachers. There will no longer be weekday tutorials unless otherwise notified by the teacher.
Thanks for your help and support in helping our students with state assessments.

There are 8 students from WAES participating in the GPISD Honor Choir. The students are:
Bertha Alvarado, Austin Erebia, Maya Guerra, Caleb Kirchner, Estefany Morales, Careli
Teran, Kaleb Welch, and Jesus Zavala. The spring concert will be on April 28 th at 6:00pm at
Galena Park High School. We hope to see you there!

Avisos del Consejo Estudiantil: Venderemos boletos para
la entrada al baile de descanso de STAAR. El costo es de
$2.00 cada uno. Precio por lavado de auto $5.00 y
camionetas/SUVs $8.00
Avisos de la Enfermera: Estamos en plena primavera y es
posible que nuestros estudiantes estén experimentando
alergias. Si su hijo padece de ellas, por favor asegúrese de
que este tomando su medicina para alergias y tenga su
inhalador en caso de así requerirlo. Del 4 al 8 de abril es la
“Semana de la Salud” en Texas.
Guarde sus recibos: Si usted cuenta con un celular
inteligente/smartphone, hay una aplicación que nos puede
ayudar a recabar dinero para nuestra escuela. El nombre es
Shoparoo. La cual acepta tanto recibos por compra de
despensa, como recibos de artículos no comestibles. Si gusta
colaborar con la causa y necesita ayuda con la aplicación, no
dude en llamar a la dirección de la escuela.
Formación del Carácter: Durante el mes de abril, los
estudiantes estarán aprendiendo acerca de la auto-disciplina.
Les pedimos practique dicho rasgo del carácter con sus hijos.

exámenes de AR (lectura acelerada, por sus siglas
en ingles), o por el placer de tener un lugar para
disfrutar de la lectura de un libro. Se invita a los
papás a unirse a sus hijos y hacer de esto un
evento familiar. ¡Esperamos verles!
Cambios para las Tutorías
A medida que se aproximan las evaluaciones STAAR (Mayo 9-11), hemos hecho algunos cambios en
cuanto a las tutorías de los estudiantes de 3ro-5to se refiere. Las tutorías se llevarán a cabo
únicamente los sábados (2, 9, 16, 23 y 30 de abril) de 9:00am-12:00pm. Los estudiantes quienes sean
invitados a asistir recibirán cartas de sus maestros. Ya no habrá tutorías entre semana, a menos que
el maestro/a de su hijo le notifique lo contrario. Agradecemos su ayuda y apoyo para ayudar a
nuestros estudiantes con sus exámenes estatales.
