PASTOR'S NOTES
Pools, prayer and Chirst……………. It is
starting to feel like summer. Although we are experiencing our normal “June gloom”, slowly but surely it is
getting sunnier and warmer every day. Two weeks ago
we arrived at the summer equinox, the longest day
(most amount of sunlight) in the entire year. In the next
couple of months we will begin to experience summer
heat. Fourth of July weekend, not Memorial Day weekend is the real beginning of summer; that is, if you define summer as sun, warmth and beach/pool weather.
Most folks like this time of year, and some of us live for
this time of year. I’m one of those folks that just can’t
get enough of summer. When I was a teenager there
was a surfing movie titled, “The Endless Summer”. In
that movie surfers traversed the globe looking for the
perfect wave and experiencing an endless summer. I
have always thought it would be great to experience an
endless summer (probably very costly as well). Since I
am not wealthy, I will have to settle for the months of
July, August, September and October in Southern California. During these months pool care is particularly
important. The heat causes evaporation at a greater
rate than during the rest of the year so the pool has to
be filled more regularly. The warmer water can cause
algae to form more quickly, so one must take special
care to make sure there is sufficient chlorine in the water, while not allowing the ph to get to low. And the
pool must be cleaned regularly because it is used more
often. This requires brushing the sides; regularly skimming the surface for leaves, bugs and other items that
blow into the pool; making sure the automatic vacuum
is working; and changing the filter regularly. I’m the
pool guy! So every time I go to Hemet I need to do all
of these things. The routine takes less than an hour
unless there is a problem (something breaks on the
Barracuda vacuum, etc.). This time of year I not only
spend time making sure the pool is in good shape, I
also spend time in the pool. I frequently dive into the
pool after my walk in the morning, just to cool off and
be refreshed prior to doing my chores. And I often
jump in and then sit for a while (sometimes with a glass
of wine in my hand) at the end of the day before preparing dinner. Over the years (6 years now) I have
come to realize that the pool helps me to get in touch
with Christ (note that from my perspective almost anything can help us be aware of the presence of Christ in
our lives). Working on the pool, cleaning it, checking
the ph, chlorine and stabilizers, adding chemicals and
fixing things that break is time for praying. I am always
alone and I frequently talk to the Lord as I am doing
this work. When the pool is clean, the water clear, and
the outside temperature warm, the pool, like Christ, is
inviting. I love jumping into the pool; it makes me think
of the importance of immersing myself totally in Christ.
I love sitting in the cool water and being refreshed; it
reminds me of how Christ refreshes me when things
are difficult in daily life. And sometimes I simply sit
outside the pool in the early morning or evening and
rest and reflect and relax. In Christ sometimes we
need to simply relax and rest in Him. Fr. Bernie sometimes uses the pool, and over the years friends and
relatives have also used the pool. Sharing the pool
with others reminds me of the fact that living in Christ is
not an isolated personal journey. Like a pool, Christ
attracts many people to Himself. Sharing Christ with
others is as refreshing as sitting in a pool all by myself.
This summer I am looking forward to time in and
around the pool. All that time will be time close to and
in Christ. I hope as you jump in or sit by the pool, or if
you are the pool guy, as you clean the pool, you recognize your connection to Christ. May the Lord be very
much present in all you do this summer!!

Calling all kids entering grades K-5! It is once again that
time of the year; to attend the annual Vacation Bible
School, which will take place the week of July 11-15.Our
theme this year is SonSurf, which focuses on how only
Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life. There will be two
bible schools this year. The English one will be from 9am
to noon and the Spanish one will be from 6:00 to 8:30 pm.
The cost is $25 dollars per child and 50 dollars for a family of up to 4 children. Registration forms are at each entrance of the church or at the Religious Ed. office. For

One-2-One Ministry
The purpose of each one to one visit is twofold: to help build
community by sitting down and listening to families in our
church community; and to identify fundamental problems in
the church and community that we need to address.
Fr. Bud asked the One-2-One Ministry team to listen to parishioners. A trained volunteer from the parish will call to
set up an intentional half hour appointment to visit and listen
to your concerns for your neighborhood, city and church.
These visits can happen in your home, at church or even
Starbuck’s. Please accept the opportunity to be heard.

Đức Khiêm Nhường … Lạy Chúa Giêsu hiền lành và khiêm nhường trong lòng. Xin uốn lòng con nên giống như
trái tim Chúa. Amen. (ĐTGM. Ngô Quang Kiệt)
Chúng ta thường tuyên xưng Thiên Chúa là Đấng Toàn Năng, phép tắc vô cùng. Khi tuyên xưng Thiên Chúa là
Đấng Toàn Năng, ta thường nghĩ đến một Thiên Chúa oai nghi bệ vệ, cao sang quyền thế, xa cách. Ta không nghĩ hay
không dám nghĩ rằng Thiên Chúa thật rất khiêm nhường. Thực sự Thiên Chúa rất khiêm nhường.
Vì khiêm nhường nên Thiên Chúa ẩn mình trong vô hình. Ở đời, một người quyền thế chiếm rất nhiều không
gian của người khác. Người quyền thế ở nhà lớn, ngồi ghế rộng. Sự hiện diện của họ khiến mọi người khép nép, nói
năng mất tự nhiên, đi đứng phải nhìn trước nhìn sau. Nếu bây giờ Thiên Chúa hiện hình đứng giữa chúng ta. Chắc hẳn
chúng ta chẳng thể ngồi thoải mái như bây giờ. Trái lại chúng ta sẽ quì sụp xuống, gục đầu, đấm ngực ăn năn. Nhưng
Thiên Chúa đã che giấu dung nhan. Người ẩn mình trong vô hình để cho ta được tự do. Người nhường không gian cho
con người. Người tự trở nên một Đấng nghèo hèn, bé nhỏ đến độ bị người đời quên lãng.
Vì khiêm nhường nên Thiên Chúa im lặng. Trong xã hội, người uy quyền thường nói nhiều. Người nhỏ phải
nghe người lớn, người nhỏ có muốn nói cũng bị tiếng người lớn át đi. Thiên Chúa đã tự trở nên bé nhỏ. Người im lặng
nhường lời cho con người. Người lắng nghe con người cả khi họ chỉ trích, chống đối, lên án Người. Người trở nên một
Đấng bé nhỏ nghèo hèn, khép nép, im lặng trong thế giới ồn ào của loài người.
Vì khiêm nhường nên Thiên Chúa đã cúi xuống thân phận con người. Con người chẳng là gì mà Chúa vẫn
thương. Người còn cúi xuống sâu hơn nữa trước những kẻ tội lỗi để nâng họ lên. Khi người ta cúi xuống trước một kẻ
cao trọng, sự khiêm nhường ấy đáng nghi ngờ. Nhưng khi người ta cúi xuống trước một thân phận tội lỗi, nghèo hèn, sự
khiêm nhường ấy rất chân thực.
Chính sự khiêm nhường thẳm sâu làm chứng quyền năng vô biên của Thiên Chúa. Thông thường ở đời, quyền
năng là để chiến thắng, để chế ngự, để đè bẹp. Ai chống lại quyền lực, quyền lực sẽ nghiền nát người ấy. Trái lại, nơi
Thiên Chúa, quyền năng là để chịu thua, để yêu thương, để tha thứ. Sức mạnh không ở nơi quyền lực. Quyền lực bộc
phát là quyền lực không tự kiềm chế được. Trái lại, khiêm nhường là chế ngự được sức mạnh của mình. Đó mới chính là
quyền năng thực sự mạnh mẽ.
Thiên Chúa vô hình. Có lẽ ta sẽ khó mà hiểu biết sự khiêm nhường của Thiên Chúa, nếu ta không nhìn thấy sự
khiêm nhường của Chúa Giêsu.
Cuộc đời Chúa Giêsu là một cuộc đời khiêm nhường. Vì khiêm nhường nên Ngài không ngừng đi xuống. Từ
trời cao Người đã hạ mình xuống thế. Từ thân phận là Thiên Chúa Người đã hạ mình xuống làm một người bình thường.
Là Thiên Chúa cao sang, Người đã tự nguyện xuống làm một người dân dã nghèo hèn. Là thánh thiện vô cùng, Người đã
tự nhận lấy thân phận tội đồ. Là Đấng hằng sống, Người đã tự nguyện chết đi. Suốt cuộc đời, Người đã không ngừng cúi
xuống những thân phận tăm tối, nghèo hèn, tội lỗi, bị loại trừ. Và một cử chỉ không thể nào quên là trong bữa tiệc ly,
Người đã quỳ xuống rửa chân cho các môn đệ. Người đã hạ mình xuống tận cùng, không còn có thể xuống hơn được
nữa.
Vì Thiên Chúa khiêm nhường luôn tìm đường đi xuống, nên những ai kiêu căng tìm nâng mình lên sẽ chẳng bao
giờ gặp được Người. Thiên Chúa khiêm nhường nên chỉ ai khiêm nhường nhỏ bé mới gặp được Người.
Hôm nay Chúa Giêsu tha thiết mời gọi: “Hãy học cùng Ta vì Ta hiền lành và khiêm nhường trong lòng”. Hãy
ghi danh vào học trường Chúa Giêsu. Hãy học bài học khiêm nhường. Hãy học bài học Giêsu. Hãy học với Thầy Giêsu.
Hãy bước theo Thầy Giêsu xuống những bậc thang khiêm nhường thẳm sâu. Ở bậc thang cuối cùng, Thiên Chúa đang
chờ đợi ta, ta sẽ gặp được Người. Ta sẽ kết hiệp với Người. Ta sẽ rũ sạch mọi vất vả lo âu. Ta sẽ được bình an.

Albercas, oración y Cristo… Empieza a sentirse
como verano. Y aunque estamos sintiendo el típico
junio, poco a poco estamos teniendo días de sol y los
días comienzan a calentarse. Hace dos semanas alcanzamos el equinoxio de verano, el día más largo del
año (cantidad de luz del día). En los próximos dos
meses sentiremos el calor pleno de verano. El fin de
semana del cuatro de julio, y no del Día de los Caídos, es realmente el comienzo del verano, esto es si lo
definen por la cantidad de sol, ambiente caliente y
temperatura de playa o alberca. La mayoría de la
gente gusta de este tiempo, y algunos viven solo para
este tiempo. Yo soy uno de ellos que los días del verano no son suficientes. Cuando yo fui un adolescente
había una película titulada: “El Interminable Verano”. En esa película los surfistas viajaban alrededor
del mundo para descubrir la ola perfecta y lograr un
verano interminable. Yo pensé siempre que sería maravilloso tener un verano interminable
(probablemente muy costoso). Y como no soy rico tengo que permanecer al Sur de California por los meses
de julio, agosto, septiembre y octubre. Durante estos
meses el cuidado de la alberca es muy importante. Lo
caliente provoca evaporación y es más costosa que a
través del año, así que debe llenarse con mayor frecuencia. El agua caliente puede causar que las algas
se muevan rápidamente, por lo que se necesita una
mayor cantidad de cloro en el agua, mientras no se
permita que caiga el nivel de ph. Y, la alberca debe
limpiarse regularmente porque se utiliza con mayor
frecuencia. Esto requiere cepillar las paredes y regularmente limpiar la superficie de hojas, insectos y
otras cosas que caen en la alberca, asegurarse que la
aspiradora automática trabaje y el filtro se encuentre
limpio. ¡Me gusta la alberca! Así que cada vez que
voy a Hemet tengo que hacer todas estas cosas. La
rutina toma menos de una hora, a menos que exista
otro problema (algo que se rompa en la aspiradora,
etc.) En este tiempo del año no solo tomo tiempo para
asegurar que la alberca este bien, también la aprovecho. Con frecuencia, lo hago después de mi caminata
de la mañana para estar fresco antes de hacer los
quehaceres de casa. Y muchas veces, al final del día
antes de preparar la cena, me sumerjo, y me siento
a la orilla saboreando un buen vaso de vino. Después
de años (6) me he dado cuenta que la alberca me ayuda a estar en contacto con Cristo (tome nota que desde mi perspectiva casi todo nos puede ayudar a estar
conscientes de la presencia de Cristo en nuestras vidas). Trabajando en la alberca, limpiándola, revisando el hp, poniéndole cloro y estabilizadores, añadien-
do químicos y arreglándole cosas, ese tiempo es para
orar. Estoy siempre solo y con frecuencia hablo con el
Señor cuando estoy realizando este trabajo. Cuando
la alberca está limpia, el agua limpia y la temperatura de afuera, de la alberca, como Cristo me está invitando. Me encanta sumergirme en la alberca, me
hace pensar de la importancia de sumergirme totalmente en Cristo. Me gusta sentarme en el agua fría y
refrescarme, me recuerda de como Cristo me refresca
cuando las cosas son difíciles en la vida diaria. Y algunas veces, me siento fuera de la alberca muy temprano o al atardecer y me relajo, descanso y reflexiono. En Cristo, algunas veces, solo necesitamos relajarnos y descansar en El. El P. Bernie, algunas veces,
utiliza la alberca, y en los años, algunos amigos y
familiares. Compartir la alberca con otros me recuerda el hecho que viviendo en Cristo no es una jornada
solitaria. Como la alberca, Cristo atrae mucha gente
hacia sí mismo. Compartir a Cristo con otros es tan
refrescante como cuando me siento junto a ella. Estoy en espera, de este verano, para meterme y estar
junto a la alberca. Todo el tiempo será estar cerca y
en Cristo. Yo espero que ustedes se sumerjan y se
sienten en la alberca, y si les gusta la alberca, cuando la estén limpiando, reconozcan su conexión con
Cristo. ¡Que el Señor esté muy presente en todo lo
que hagan este verano!!!!

¡Llamando a todos los niños entre los grados K‐5! Una vez más es la época del año para asistir a la escuela de Biblia de Verano, que se llevará a cabo la semana de julio 11‐
15.Nuestro tema este año es SonSurf, que se centra en cómo Jesús es el único camino, la verdad y la vida. Habrá dos sesiones de escuela de Biblia, este año. En inglés será de 9:00 am al mediodía y en español será de 6:00 pm a 8:30 pm. El costo es de 20 dólares por niño antes del 18 de junio y 50 dólares para una familia de no más de cuatro hijos. tros inmigrantes. ¿Quienes No han sufrido esto en carne propia? Necesitamos orar mu‐

Este ministerio tiene dos objetivos: ayudar a construer la comunidad mediante un dialogo con familias de nuestra comunidad; y para descubrir los problemas fundamentals dentro de nuestra parroquia que necesitan hablarse.
