Volunteers Needed for Catechesis
L
oving and faithful God, through the years the people of our archdiocese
have appreciated the prayers and love of Our Lady of Prompt Succor in
times of war, disaster, epidemic and illness. We come to you, Father, with
Mary our Mother, and ask you to help us in the battle of today against violence,
murder and racism.
We implore you to give us your wisdom that we may build a community founded
on the values of Jesus, which gives respect to the life and dignity of all people.
Bless parents that they may form their children in faith. Bless and protect our
youth that they may be peacemakers of our time. Give consolation to those who
have lost loved ones through violence.
Hear our prayer and give us the perseverance to be a voice for life and human
dignity in our community.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Our Lady of Prompt Succor, hasten to help us.
Catechesis thrives on volunteers. God is calling anyone wants to serve God and His children in our community. If you are a parent,
have considered this ministry, have either
volunteered or taught school in the past, are
interested in working in education or Religious field, or heard God’s call to serve, this
is the program for you! Please be assured
there are training opportunities throughout
the Archdiocese as well as here in the Parish. You can print a form from the website or
sign up in the back of church. Contact
Jacques Delouche at the office at 466-5016
or [email protected] for any
questions or comments. Thank you and God
Bless you!
Mother Henriette Delille, pray for us that we may be a holy family.

I Have Decided to Follow Jesus
1. I have decided to follow Jesus
I have decided to follow Jesus
I have decided to follow Jesus
No turning back, no turning back!
2. The world behind me
the cross before me.
The world behind me
the cross before me.
The world behind me
the cross before me.
No turning back, no turning back!
While to that rock I'm clinging.
Since love is Lord of
heaven and earth,
How can I keep from singing?
2. Through all the tumult
and the strife,
I hear that music ringing;
It sounds and echoes in my soul;
How can I keep from singing?
3. What, though my joys
and comfort die,
The Lord, my savior liveth.
What though the darkness
gather 'round?
Songs in the night it giveth.

How Can I Keep From Singing
1. My life flows on in endless song
Above earth's lamenta on.
I hear the real though far-off hymn
That hails a new crea on.
Refrain
No storm can shake my inmost calm,
2. No one who comes to me
shall ever hunger again.
No one who believes
shall ever thirst.
All that the Father draws
shall come to me,
and I will give them rest.

Alleluia! Sing to Jesus
1. Alleluia! Sing to Jesus!
is the scepter, his the throne;

His the victory alone;

Thunder like a mighty flood;
Jesus out of ev'ry na on
Has redeemed us by his blood.

Though none go with me
s ll I will follow.
Though none go with me
s ll I will follow
No turning back, no turning back!

I have decided to follow Jesus.
I have decided to follow Jesus.
No turning back, no turning back!
1. All who eat of this heavenly Bread,
all who drink this cup of the covenant:

Are we leD in sorrow now;

'I am with you evermore'?
3. Alleluia! Bread of Angels,
Here on earth our food, our stay!
Alleluia! Here the sinful
Flee to you from day to day:
Intercessor, friend of sinners,
Earth's redeemer, plead for me,
Where the songs of all the sinless
Sweep across the crystal sea.

You the Lord of lords we own;

Un1tled Hymn (Come To Jesus)
1. Weak and wounded sinner,
lost and leD to die;
O, raise your head,
for Love is passin' by.
Come to Jesus,
come to Jesus,
come to Jesus and live!
2. Now your burden's liDed
and carried far away,
and precious blood
has washed away the stain.
So sing to Jesus,
sing to Jesus,
sing to Jesus and live!
3. Like a newborn baby,
don't be afraid to crawl.
And remember when
you walk, some mes we fall.
So fall on Jesus,
fall on Jesus,
fall on Jesus and live!
4. Some mes the way is lonely,
and steep and filled with pain,
So if your sky is dark
and pours the rain,
Then cry to Jesus,
cry to Jesus,
cry to Jesus and live!
5. O, and when the love spills over,
and music fills the night,
and when you can't
contain your joy inside,
then dance for Jesus,
dance for Jesus,
dance for Jesus and live!
6. And with your final heartbeat
kiss the world good-bye,
then go in peace,
and laugh on glory's side.

I confess.
My hands are weary:
I need Your rest.
Mighty warrior, King of the fight,
no ma]er what I face You're
by my side.
Communion
Like the Bread
Refrain
Like the bread, we are taken.
Like the Christ, we are blessed.
On this altar we are broken,
giv'n as food that all might live,
giv'n as food that all might live.
1. How quickly we reject ourselves,
blinded from our call.
We resign to live in fear
of love, of self, of all.
This is not the will of God,
for the chosen must be free.
We are taken by the love of Christ
to live eternally.
2. Broken like the bread of life,
we oDen flee from pain.
We resign to live our lives,
not knowing death's true gain.
This is not the will of God,
for in dying we will live.
The cross, a sign of victory
and of the healing it will give.
Bridge
Some say it is good to have,
but the faithful learn to give.
Like the saints of old
who lived prepared,
we become like Christ
to feed, to share.

Trust In You
1. Le\ng go of every single dream,
I lay each one down at Your feet.
Every moment of my wondering
never changes what You see.
Refrain
When You don't move the mountains
I'm needing You to move,
when You don't part the waters
I wish I could walk through,
when You don't give the answers
as I cry out to You,
I will trust, I will trust,
I will trust in You.
3. Truth is You know
what tomorrow brings.
There's not a day
ahead You have not seen.
So in all things
be my life and breath;
I want what You want,
Lord and nothing less.
(to bridge…)
Bridge
You are my strength and comfort;
You are my steady hand.
You are my firm founda on,
the Rock on which I stand.
Your ways are always higher;
Your plans are always good.
There's not a place where I'll go
You've not already stood.

Here there is not Jew and Greek, circumcision and uncircumcision, barbarian, Sythian, slave, free; but Christ is all and in all. Colossians 3:11
How important it is at this time for us to remember and appreciate that we are all
equal in the sight of God. Nothing else matters to Him except that we live according to His will. The blood of Americans is being spilt in our streets. Regardless of
skin color, economic status, age, gender - we are all children of God, and He
grieves for each one that is slain. We are in the midst of an escalating war which is
primarily being fought at the spiritual level, between Lucifer and his minions and
the mighty Archangels of God. However, we have a part to play and we are being
tested. Each day let us surrender our lives to God so that He can mold us into His
own and so become courageous soldiers to be used by Him to hasten the victory which He promised.
Invite the healing, saving power of Christ into your homes and families through the enthronement of the Sacred
Heart of Jesus. For information please contact Anne-Marie d'Abadie at 443-2204 or email [email protected]
(English), or Lynda Peña at 338-4306 (Spanish).

GOSPEL: Luke 12:13-21
Today’s gospel (Luke 12:13-21), reminds us of some
“counter-cultural” facts. It is not necessary that we go
to a good college. But it is absolutely necessary that
we go to heaven. Sometimes, the right school will
help. But we are asked to think about trusting and
relying on God. At Life Teen and Edge, we try to focus
our main goals on getting to heaven. Come join us on
our journey!
Preached Silent Retreat
Healing Our Relationships
August 5 –7, 2016
at 5500 St. Mary’s Street, Metairie, LA 70006
Only if we have healed the hurts of past relationships,
can we relate well to God, authority figures, our
spouse, our children, and even ourselves. This retreat
will focus on how to heal our relationship with God,
with those who have hurt us, and where it is difficult
to love ourselves. Each session will end with a prayer
process to heal a difficult relationship. The retreat will
end with a process to heal future hurts daily and to
receive all the life from each day.

incluso a nosotros mismos.

Act of Spiritual Communion
Acto de Comunión
Espiritual
My Jesus, I believe that You are in
the Blessed Sacrament. I love You
above all
things, and I
long for You in
my soul. Since I
cannot now
receive You
sacramentally,
come at least
spiritually into
my heart. As
though You have already come, I
embrace You and unite myself entirely to You; never permit me to be
separated from You.
Mi Jesús, yo creo que Tú estás en
el Santísimo Sacramento. Yo te
amo por encima de todas
las cosas y yo
Te deseo en mi
alma. Como
ahora no puedo recibirte
sacramentalmente, al menos ven a mi
corazón espiritualmente. Como ya
has venido, Yo te abrazo y me uno
enteramente a Ti. Nunca permitas
que me separe de ti.
