Divine Mercy Parish July 31, 2016 18th Sunday in Ordinary Time Healing & Refreshment! In observance of the Jubilee of Mercy, Divine Mercy Parish is pleased to offer a series by Deacon Larry Oney entitled “Healing & Refreshment: How to Pray for and Receive Healing" on the Thursdays of August. You don’t want to miss it! Dates: Thursday, Aug. 4, 11, 18, 25, 2016 Time: 7:00 pm Place: in Church Family Prayer Volunteers Needed for Catechesis L oving and faithful God, through the years the people of our archdiocese have appreciated the prayers and love of Our Lady of Prompt Succor in times of war, disaster, epidemic and illness. We come to you, Father, with Mary our Mother, and ask you to help us in the battle of today against violence, murder and racism. We implore you to give us your wisdom that we may build a community founded on the values of Jesus, which gives respect to the life and dignity of all people. Bless parents that they may form their children in faith. Bless and protect our youth that they may be peacemakers of our time. Give consolation to those who have lost loved ones through violence. Hear our prayer and give us the perseverance to be a voice for life and human dignity in our community. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Our Lady of Prompt Succor, hasten to help us. Catechesis thrives on volunteers. God is calling anyone wants to serve God and His children in our community. If you are a parent, have considered this ministry, have either volunteered or taught school in the past, are interested in working in education or Religious field, or heard God’s call to serve, this is the program for you! Please be assured there are training opportunities throughout the Archdiocese as well as here in the Parish. You can print a form from the website or sign up in the back of church. Contact Jacques Delouche at the office at 466-5016 or [email protected] for any questions or comments. Thank you and God Bless you! Mother Henriette Delille, pray for us that we may be a holy family. How quickly we reject ourselves, blinded from our call. We resign to live in fear of love, of self, of all. This is not the will of God, for the chosen must be free. We are taken by the love of Christ to live eternally. 2. Broken like the bread of life, we oDen flee from pain. We resign to live our lives, not knowing death's true gain. This is not the will of God, for in dying we will live. The cross, a sign of victory and of the healing it will give. Bridge Some say it is good to have, but the faithful learn to give. Like the saints of old who lived prepared, we become like Christ to feed, to share. (to refrain…) By: T. Booth; T. Casey©1995. OCP Publica ons. All rights reserved. Used by permission. Truth is You know what tomorrow brings. There's not a day ahead You have not seen. So in all things be my life and breath; I want what You want, Lord and nothing less. (to bridge…) Bridge You are my strength and comfort; You are my steady hand. You are my firm founda on, the Rock on which I stand. Your ways are always higher; Your plans are always good. Colossians 3:11 How important it is at this time for us to remember and appreciate that we are all equal in the sight of God. Nothing else matters to Him except that we live according to His will. The blood of Americans is being spilt in our streets. Regardless of skin color, economic status, age, gender - we are all children of God, and He grieves for each one that is slain. We are in the midst of an escalating war which is primarily being fought at the spiritual level, between Lucifer and his minions and the mighty Archangels of God. However, we have a part to play and we are being tested. Each day let us surrender our lives to God so that He can mold us into His own and so become courageous soldiers to be used by Him to hasten the victory which He promised. Invite the healing, saving power of Christ into your homes and families through the enthronement of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Catechesis SignSign-Ups GOSPEL: Luke 12:13-21 Today’s gospel (Luke 12:13-21), reminds us of some “counter-cultural” facts. It is not necessary that we go to a good college. But it is absolutely necessary that we go to heaven. Sometimes, the right school will help. But we are asked to think about trusting and relying on God. At Life Teen and Edge, we try to focus our main goals on getting to heaven. Come join us on our journey! Preached Silent Retreat Healing Our Relationships August 5 –7, 2016 at 5500 St. Mary’s Street, Metairie, LA 70006 Only if we have healed the hurts of past relationships, can we relate well to God, authority figures, our spouse, our children, and even ourselves. This retreat will focus on how to heal our relationship with God, with those who have hurt us, and where it is difficult to love ourselves. Each session will end with a prayer process to heal a difficult relationship. The retreat will end with a process to heal future hurts daily and to receive all the life from each day. Actual Cost: $350 Minimum Offering: $225 Commuters: $150 For additional information, please contact Susan Halligan at [email protected] or 504-267-9604. Registration for Elementary Catechesis (Grades K-5th) is still ongoing. The schedule for the school year will be posted on the Parish website. Throughout the year we will have lessons as well as FUN activities on God, the Trinity, Mary, the Saints, and the Sacraments. Forms to sign up are in the back of the Church and will also be handed out at Catechesis. Act of Spiritual Communion Acto de Comunión Espiritual My Jesus, I believe that You are in the Blessed Sacrament. I love You above all things, and I long for You in my soul. Since I cannot now receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. As though You have already come, I embrace You and unite myself entirely to You; never permit me to be separated from You. Mi Jesús, yo creo que Tú estás en el Santísimo Sacramento. Yo te amo por encima de todas las cosas y yo Te deseo en mi alma. Como ahora no puedo recibirte sacramentalmente, al menos ven a mi corazón espiritualmente. Como ya has venido, Yo te abrazo y me uno enteramente a Ti. Nunca permitas que me separe de ti. Staff Pastor: Fr. David Dufour Parochial Vicar: Fr.
