This section describes how to connect the machine to a personal computer or
network, and describes the types of connectors and cables you should use.

WARNING
To avoid electrical shock, disconnect the power cord from the power outlet,
before connecting an interface cable or network cable. (See Chapter 1, “Before
You Start Using This Machine,” in the Reference Guide.)
NOTE
This machine is not supplied with an interface cable or a network cable. Please purchase
the correct cable that is compatible with your computer or network.
Connecting to a Network
This machine has a built-in print server that is compatible with a TCP/IP network,
and allows you to use the machine as a network printer for UNIX and Windows. The
print server is supplied with a 100Base-TX/10Base-T port, which allows you to
connect it to a LAN (Local Area Network).
The connection examples in this section show you how to connect this machine to a
network, depending on the type of LAN.
IMPORTANT
In order to connect the machine to your network, you need a LAN cable, hub and
FAX-L2000 Network Printer/Fax Kit.
NOTE
• The print server of this machine is compatible with a NetWare network. For details,
contact your local authorized Canon dealer.
• The print server of this machine automatically detects the 100Base-TX or 10Base-T
interface connection.
• After connecting the network cable, perform the following procedures. For details on each
procedure, refer to the corresponding manual.
- Installing the printer driver. (See Chapter 2, “Getting Started,” in the PCL Driver Guide.)
- Date/time and system management settings. (See Chapter 1, “Before You Start Using
This Machine,” in the Facsimile Guide, and Chapter 4, “Restricting the Use of the
Machine,” in the Reference Guide.)
- Print server and network settings. (See Chapter 2, “Using a TCP/IP Network
(Windows/UNIX),” in the Network Guide.)

Connect the machine to a computer or network using an interface cable which
supports bidirectional communication or a 100Base-TX or 10Base-T Ethernet
cable.
Connecting to a 100Base-TX Network
Connect the 10Base-T/100Base-TX cable to the hub port using a Category 5 rated
twisted-pair LAN cable for use on a 100Base-TX network. Then, connect the
10Base-T/100Base-TX cable to the optional Network Kit at the back of the
FAX-L2000/L2000IP machine. If your computer is not compatible with a
100Base-TX network, you would also need a 100Base-TX network board.

Connecting to a 10Base-T Network
Connect the 10Base-T/100Base-TX cable to the hub port using a Category 3 or
higher rated twisted-pair LAN cable for use on a 10Base-T network. Then, connect
the 10Base-T/100Base-TX cable to the optional Network Kit at the back of the
FAX-L2000/L2000IP machine. If your computer is not compatible with a 10Base-T
network, you would also need a 10Base-T network board.

Connecting through a Parallel Interface
This machine can connect to a computer through a parallel interface. After making
the connection, install the supplied printer driver and utility software that is
compatible with the operating system on your computer.
For more information on installing the printer driver and utility software, see
“Software Installation Instructions,” on p. 2-6.

Connecting to a Windows Computer
Most IBM PC/AT, and other Windows compatible computers contain a parallel
printer port connection (IEEE 1284 compliant). Connect a parallel printer cable to
the back of your FAX-L2000/L2000IP machine, and to the printer port of your
computer.

If you have connected a computer to the parallel port of this machine, some utility

Connecting through a USB Interface
This machine can connect to a computer through a USB interface. After making the
connection, install the supplied printer driver and utility software that is compatible
with the operating system on your computer.
For more information on installing the printer driver and utility software, see
“Software Installation Instructions,” on p. 2-6.
Connect a USB cable to the back of your FAX-L2000/L2000IP machine, and to the
USB port of your computer.

This PDF manual contains the fax driver and cover sheet editor installation and
instructions.

This is essential software when you print from Windows based applications. Be sure to
install this software.
■ Fax Driver
Install this software in order to use the facsimile function.
■ Font Manager 2000
Install this software to manage the 96 screen fonts which are included on the CD-ROM.
■ Bar Code and OCR TTF
Install these fonts in order to display them correctly.

■ NetSpot
NetSpot is software that enables you to display the status of any machine that is
connected to a computer or network on your computer screen. This software is applicable
for Windows, Macintosh, and UNIX computers.
■ LPR Port Utility
The LPR Port Utility for Microsoft Windows 95/98/Me is software that enables you to print
from Windows 95/98/Me computers to printers on a TCP/IP network.
■ NetBIOS/NetBEUI Port Monitor Utility
NetBIOS/NetBEUI Port Monitor Utility for Microsoft Windows 95/98/Me is software that
enables you to print from Windows 95/98/Me computers to printers on a NetBIOS/
NetBEUI network.
■ DSE (Device Status Extension)
DSE is software that enables you to browse the information on shared printers and
manage print jobs via a web browser. This software can be installed into Windows
2000/XP computers only.

■ Canon NDPS Gateway
The Canon NDPS Gateway software configures Canon printers to operate in the Novell
NetWare NDPS (Novell Distributed Print Services) architecture.

The CD-ROM is designed for use with Windows 95/98/Me, Windows NT or
Windows 2000/XP computers.

Before printing, you need to install the printer drivers and utility software. When you
install the software, take care to install the correct version of the software that is
compatible with the operating system of your computer.
IMPORTANT
For details on the printer drivers and the installation of the software, see Chapter 2,
“Getting Started,” in the PCL Driver Guide.
For Windows
To print from a Windows 95/98/Me/2000/XP or Windows NT computer, install the
printer driver and utility software from the supplied CD-ROM.
The following software is included on the supplied CD-ROM.
This is essential software if you want to print from Windows based applications. Be sure to
install this software.
■ NetSpot
This printer utility software enables you to display the status of a printer that is connected
to a computer or network on your computer screen. If you set up the printer and Network
Kit, you can operate the printer from the connected computer in the same way as you
would operate the printer from the operation panel. Install this software if necessary.
When the Machine Is Connected to a Network
Install the supplied “NetSpot” network administration software.
NOTE
• When this machine is connected to a network, you need to set up the network’s operating
system (NetWare, UNIX, etc.), and the optional Network Kit. For these settings, see
Chapter 1, “Before You Start,” in the Network Guide.
• When this machine is connected to a network, print the “PRINT EN CONFIG” list from
the TEST MENU to check the MAC address of the Network Kit. Then, set up the network
OS (NetWare, UNIX, etc.), and the Network Kit. For details, see Chapter 3, “Summary of
the Printer Menus,” in the PCL Printer Guide.

This section describes how to install the printer driver, fax driver, and other software
included on the accompanying CD-ROM.

Installing the PCL Printer Driver
IMPORTANT
For Windows NT or Windows 2000, log on to as Administrator when you install the driver.
Using the Installer

Insert the Driver Software CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive.
❑ Double-click the [My Computer] icon ➞ the CD-ROM drive icon.
❑ Double-click the following folders: [Drivers] ➞ [uk_eng] ➞ [prnsetup].
❑ Double-click the [Setup.exe] icon to start the installation process.

Follow the on screen instructions to finish installing the
printer driver.

On the [Start] menu, point to [Settings] ➞ click [Printers].
In the [Printers] folder, double-click the [Add Printer] icon to
start the Add Printer Wizard ➞ follow the instructions on the
screen to continue the installation.

Raccordez l'imprimante à un ordinateur ou un réseau avec un câble d'interface
permettant la communication bidirectionnelle ou un câble Ethernet 100Base-TX ou
10Base-T.
AVERTISSEMENT
REMARQUE
Le câble d'interface ou le câble réseau n'est pas fourni avec ce télécopieur. Il doit être
acheté séparément en fonction de l'ordinateur ou du réseau.
Connexion à un réseau
Ce télécopieur est équipée d'un serveur d'impression intégré compatible avec un
réseau TCP/IP, permettant de l'utiliser comme imprimante de réseau sous UNIX et
Windows. Le serveur d'impression est équipé d'un port 100Base-TX/10Base-T,
pour la connexion à un réseau local.
Les exemples de connexion figurant dans cette section expliquent comment
connecter le télécopieur à un réseau, selon le type de réseau local.
IMPORTANT
Pour connecter le télécopieur à votre réseau, vous avez besoin d'un câble LAN, d'un
concentrateur et du Kit Réseau Imprimante/Fax pour FAX-L2000.
REMARQUE
• Le serveur d'impression de ce télécopieur est compatible avec le réseau NetWare. Pour
plus d'informations, consultez le représentant Canon agréé local.
• Le serveur d'impression de ce télécopieur détecte automatiquement l'interface
100Base-TX ou 10Base-T connectée.
• Après la connexion du câble réseau, exécutez les procédures suivantes. Pour plus
d'informations sur chaque procédure, consultez le manuel correspondant.
- Installation du pilote d'imprimante. (Voir le Chapitre 2 «Prise en main» du Guide du
pilote PCL.)
- Réglage de la date et de l'heure et du mode de gestion du système. (Voir le Chapitre 1

Pour éviter tout risque d'électrocution, débranchez le cordon d'alimentation de
la prise secteur avant de connecter un câble d'interface ou un câble réseau.

Connectez le câble 10Base-T/100Base-TX au port du concentrateur à l’aide d’un
câble LAN à paire torsadée Catégorie 5 pour le réseau 100Base-TX. Ensuite,
connectez le câble 10Base-T/100Base-TX au Kit réseau en option au dos du
télécopieur FAX-L2000/L2000IP. Si l’ordinateur n’est pas compatible avec le réseau
100Base-TX, une carte réseau 100Base-TX peut être nécessaire.

Connexion via une interface parallèle
Ce télécopieur peut être connectée à un ordinateur via une interface parallèle. Une
fois la connexion établie, installez le pilote d’imprimante et les logiciels utilitaires
fournis pour le système d’exploitation de l’ordinateur.

Connexion à un ordinateur Windows

Le port imprimante des ordinateurs IBM PC/AT et compatibles Windows est
normalement un port parallèle (conforme IEEE 1284). Connectez le câble
d’imprimante parallèle au dos du télécopieur FAX-L2000/L2000IP et au port
imprimante de l’ordinateur.

un réseau TCP/IP.
■ Utilitaire de surveillance de port NetBIOS/NetBEUI
L'utilitaire de surveillance de port NetBIOS/NetBEUI pour Microsoft Windows 95/98/Me
est le logiciel qui permet d'imprimer à partir d'ordinateurs Windows 95/98/Me vers des
imprimantes connectées à un réseau NetBIOS/NetBEUI.
DSE est le logiciel qui permet de rechercher des informations stockées sur des
imprimantes partagées et de gérer des tâches d'impression via un navigateur Web.

Le logiciel Canon NDPS Gateway configure des imprimantes Canon pour fonctionner
dans l'architecture Novell NetWare NDPS (Novell Distributed Print Services).

Configuration requise
FRANÇAIS
Le CD-ROM est conçu pour être utilisé avec des ordinateurs Windows 95/98/Me,
Windows NT ou Windows 2000/XP.

Avant d'imprimer, vous devez installer les pilotes d'imprimante et les logiciels
utilitaires. Quand vous installez les logiciels, veillez à sélectionner la version
compatible avec le système d'exploitation de votre ordinateur.
Pour Windows
Pour imprimer à partir d'un ordinateur Windows 95/98/Me/2000/XP ou Windows NT,
installez le pilote d'imprimante et les logiciels utilitaires contenus sur le CD-ROM
fourni.
Le CD-ROM contient les logiciels suivants.
■ Pilote d'imprimante PCL
Logiciel indispensable pour imprimer à partir des applications Windows. N'oubliez pas de
l'installer.
■ NetSpot
Cet utilitaire d'impression permet d'afficher sur l'écran de l'ordinateur le statut d'une
imprimante connectée à un ordinateur ou à un réseau. Si vous configurez l'imprimante et
le Kit réseau, vous pouvez commander l'imprimante à partir de l'ordinateur auquel elle est
raccordée de la même manière qu'à partir de son panneau de commande. Installez ce
logiciel le cas échéant.
Si le télécopieur est connectée à un réseau
Installez le logiciel d'administration réseau «NetSpot» fourni.
REMARQUE
• Si le télécopieur est connectée à un réseau, vous devez installer le système
d'exploitation réseau (NetWare, UNIX, etc.) ainsi que le Kit réseau en option. Pour plus
d'informations, voir le Chapitre 1 «Avant de commencer» du Guide de mise en réseau.
• Si le télécopieur est connectée à un réseau, imprimez la liste «PAGE EN CONFIG.» du
MENU TEST pour vérifier l'adresse MAC du Kit réseau. Ensuite, installez le système
d'exploitation réseau (NetWare, UNIX, etc.) et le Kit réseau. Pour plus d'informations, voir
le Chapitre 3 «Résumé des menus de l'imprimante» du Guide de l'impression PCL.

Instructions d'installation des logiciels
Cette section décrit comment installer le pilote d'imprimante, le pilote de télécopie
ainsi que d'autres logiciels contenus sur le CD-ROM fourni avec le télécopieur.

Installation du pilote d'imprimante PCL
IMPORTANT
Sous Windows NT ou Windows 2000, connectez-vous en tant qu'administrateur pour
installer le pilote.
Utilisation du programme d'installation

Insérez le CD-ROM du logiciel du pilote dans le lecteur de
CD-ROM.
❑ Cliquez deux fois sur l'icône [Poste de travail] ➞ icône du lecteur de CD-ROM.
❑ Cliquez deux fois sur les dossiers suivants : [Pilotes] ➞ [francais] ➞ [prnsetup].
❑ Cliquez deux fois sur l'icône [Setup.exe] pour démarrer le processus
d'installation.

Suivez les instructions à l'écran pour terminer l'installation du
pilote d'imprimante.
Utilisation de l'Assistant Ajout d'imprimante

Dans le menu [Démarrer], pointez sur [Paramètres] ➞ cliquez
sur [Imprimantes].

[Ajout d'imprimante] pour démarrer l'Assistant Ajout
d'imprimante ➞ suivez les instructions à l'écran pour
poursuivre l'installation.
Insérez le CD-ROM du logiciel du pilote d'imprimante dans le
lecteur de CD-ROM ➞ cliquez sur [Disquette fournie].
Cliquez sur [Parcourir] pour sélectionner le dossier du pilote à
installer ➞ cliquez sur [OK].

Anschlüsse
Verwenden Sie zum Verbinden des Geräts mit dem Computer bzw. Netzwerk ein
Schnittstellenkabel, das bidirektionale Kommunikation unterstützt, oder ein
100Base-TX- bzw. 10Base-T Ethernet-Kabel.
WARNUNG
Ziehen Sie vor dem Herstellen der Schnittstellenkabelverbindung den
Netzstecker, um einen elektrischen Schlag zu vermeiden. (Siehe Kapitel 1, „Vor
dem Start”, im Referenzhandbuch.)
HINWEIS
Dieses Gerät wird ohne Schnittstellen- oder Netzwerkkabel ausgeliefert. Beschaffen Sie
bitte ein Kabel, das sich für Ihren Computer bzw. das Netzwerk eignet.
Dieses Gerät verfügt über einen internen Druckserver, der mit TCP/IP Netzwerken
kompatibel ist und den Einsatz des Geräts als Netzwerkdrucker unter UNIX oder
Windows erlaubt. Der Druckserver besitzt einen 100Base-TX/10Base-T Port für
den Anschluß an ein LAN (lokales Netzwerk).
Die Anschlußbeispiele in diesem Abschnitt illustrieren den Anschluß des Geräts an
Netzwerke unterschiedlicher LAN-Typen.
WICHTIG
Zum Anschließen des Geräts an Ihr Netzwerk benötigen Sie ein LAN-Kabel, ein Hub und
den Netzwerkdrucker/Fax-Nachrüstsatz FAX-L2000.
HINWEIS
• Der Druckserver dieses Geräts ist mit NetWare Netzwerken kompatibel. Einzelheiten
erfahren Sie bei Ihrem Canon Servicepartner.
• Der Druckserver erkennt automatisch, ob er über 100Base-TX oder 10Base-T
verbunden ist.
• Nach dem Anschluß des Netzwerkkabels führen Sie die folgenden Einrichtungsarbeiten
durch. Eine detaillierte Beschreibung der einzelnen Vorgänge finden Sie in den
angegebenen Handbüchern.

Verbinden über eine parallele Schnittstelle
Das System läßt sich über eine parallele Schnittstelle mit dem Computer
verbinden. Nach dem Verbinden installieren Sie den mitgelieferten Druckertreiber
und die passende Utility Software für das Betriebssystem Ihres Computers.

Installieren Sie die mitgelieferte „NetSpot” Netzwerkverwaltungssoftware.

Netzwerk-Betriebssystem (NetWare, UNIX usw.) und die optionale

• Drucken Sie für den Einsatz in einem Netzwerk die Liste „EN.KONFIG DRUCK” über das
TEST MENÜ aus, um die MAC-Adresse der Netzwerk-Nachrüstsatz zu prüfen. Richten
Sie dann das Netzwerk-Betriebssystem (NetWare, UNIX usw.) und die
Netzwerk-Nachrüstsatz ein. Einzelheiten finden Sie in Kapitel 3, „Übersicht über die

Nella presente sezione viene descritto come collegare il dispositivo al PC o alla
rete e vengono elencati i tipi di connettori e di cavi da utilizzare.

Immettere le necessarie impostazioni relative alla
rete e al server (vedere il capitolo 2 "Uso di una
rete TCP/IP (Windows/UNIX)" nel documento

Installazione del driver stampante
Installare il driver stampante sui PC. Installare il
software di utilità eventualmente necessario per
l'ambiente di rete specifico (vedere il capitolo 2
"Guida introduttiva" nel documento Guida del
Driver PCL).

Realizzazione dei collegamenti
Collegare il dispositivo a un computer o alla rete con un cavo di interfaccia capace
di supportare la comunicazione bidirezionale o con un cavo Ethernet 100Base-TX
o 10Base-T.
AVVERTENZA
Per evitare il rischio di scosse elettriche, scollegare il cavo di alimentazione
dalla presa a muro prima di inserire il cavo di interfaccia o il cavo di rete (vedere
il capitolo 1 “Prima di utilizzare la macchina” nel documento Guida di
riferimento).
NOTA
Il cavo di interfaccia e il cavo di rete non vengono forniti in dotazione con questo
dispositivo. Si raccomanda di acquistare il tipo di cavo compatibile con il computer o la
rete in uso.
Questo dispositivo dispone di un server di stampa incorporato compatibile con le
reti TCP/IP, il quale consente di utilizzare l'apparecchio come stampante di rete per
UNIX e Windows. Il server di stampa è dotato di una porta 100Base-TX/10Base-T
per il collegamento a una rete locale LAN (Local Area Network).
Gli esempi di collegamento riportati in questa sezione mostrano come collegare il
dispositivo a una rete, a seconda del tipo di LAN.
IMPORTANTE
Per collegare la macchina alla rete è necessario un cavo LAN, un hub e un kit per
stampante/fax di rete FAX-L2000.
NOTA
• Il server di stampa di questo dispositivo è compatibile con le reti NetWare. Per maggiori
dettagli, rivolgersi al più vicino rivenditore Canon autorizzato.
• Il server di stampa di questo dispositivo rileva automaticamente il collegamento di
interfaccia 100Base-TX o 10Base-T.
• Dopo avere collegato il cavo di rete, eseguire le procedure elencate qui sotto. Per
maggiori dettagli sulle singole procedure, fare riferimento al manuale corrispondente.

- Immissione di data/ora e impostazioni di gestione del sistema (vedere il capitolo 1
“Prima di utilizzare la macchina” nel documento Guida Fax e il capitolo 4 “Restrizioni

- Impostazioni del server di stampa e della rete (vedere il capitolo 2 “Uso di una rete
TCP/IP (Windows/UNIX)” nel documento Guida per la rete).
Collegamento a una rete 100Base-TX
Collegare il cavo 10Base-T/100Base-TX alla porta dell’hub utilizzando un cavo
LAN a doppino intrecciato categoria 5 per reti 100Base-TX. Quindi, collegare il
cavo 10Base-T/100Base-TX al kit di rete opzionale presente sul retro della
macchina FAX-L2000/L2000IP. Se il computer non è compatibile con una rete
100Base-TX è necessaria anche una scheda di rete 100Base-TX.

Collegare il cavo 10Base-T/100Base-TX alla porta dell’hub utilizzando un cavo
LAN a doppino intrecciato categoria 3 o superiore per reti 10Base-T. Quindi,
collegare il cavo 10Base-T/100Base-TX al kit di rete opzionale presente sul retro
della macchina FAX-L2000/L2000IP. Se il computer non è compatibile con una rete
10Base-T è necessaria anche una scheda di rete 10Base-T.

Collegamento attraverso un’interfaccia parallela
Questa macchina può essere collegata a un computer attraverso un’interfaccia
parallela. Dopo il collegamento, installare il driver di stampa e il software utility
forniti, specifici per il sistema operativo del computer.
Per ulteriori informazioni sull’installazione del driver di stampa e del software utility,
vedere “Istruzioni di installazione del software” a p. 2-6.
Collegamento a un computer Windows
La maggior parte dei computer IBM PC/AT e altri computer Windows compatibili
contengono un collegamento di porta stampante parallelo (conforme allo standard
IEEE 1284). Collegare un cavo stampante parallelo al retro della macchina
FAX-L2000/L2000IP e alla porta stampante del computer.

Questa macchina può essere collegata a un computer attraverso un’interfaccia
USB. Dopo il collegamento, installare il driver di stampa e il software utility forniti,
specifici per il sistema operativo del computer.

NetSpot è un software che consente di visualizzare lo stato di qualsiasi dispositivo
collegato al computer o alla rete sullo schermo del computer. Questo software viene
eseguito su computer dotati di Windows, Macintosh e UNIX.
LPR Port Utility per Microsoft Windows 95/98/Me è un software che consente di inviare
comandi di stampa da computer Windows 95/98/Me a stampanti collegate in rete TCP/IP.
NetBIOS/NetBEUI Port Monitor Utility per Microsoft Windows 95/98/Me è un software che
consente di inviare comandi di stampa da computer Windows 95/98/Me a stampanti
collegate in rete NetBIOS/NetBEUI.
DSE è un software che consente di esaminare informazioni sulle stampanti condivise e di
gestire lavori di stampa attraverso un browser Web.

Il software Canon NDPS Gateway configura le stampanti Canon per consentirne il
funzionamento nell'architettura Novell NetWare NDPS (Novell Distributed Print Services).

Requisiti di sistema

Il CD-ROM è progettato per essere utilizzato su computer dotati di Windows
95/98/Me, Windows NT o Windows 2000/XP.

Prima di stampare, è necessario installare i driver stampante e il software di utilità.
Nell'installazione del software, accertarsi di installare la corretta versione di
software compatibile con il sistema operativo del computer.
IMPORTANTE

In Windows
Per stampare da un computer dotato di Windows 95/98/Me/2000/XP o Windows
NT, installare il driver stampante e il software di utilità contenuti nel CD-ROM in
dotazione.
Il CD-ROM fornito in dotazione contiene il seguente software.
■ NetSpot
Il software di utilità della stampante consente di visualizzare lo stato di una stampante
collegata al computer o alla rete sullo schermo del computer. Se vengono configurate la
stampante e il Kit di rete, la stampante può essere controllata dal computer collegato
nello stesso modo in cui viene controllata dal pannello operativo. Installare questo
software se necessario.
Dispositivo collegato alla rete
Installare il software di amministrazione della rete “NetSpot” fornito in dotazione.
NOTA
• Se il dispositivo viene collegato in rete, è necessario configurare il sistema operativo
della rete (NetWare, UNIX, ecc.) e il Kit di rete opzionale. Per queste impostazioni,
vedere il capitolo 1 “Prima di iniziare” nel documento Guida per la rete.
• Se il dispositivo viene collegato in rete, stampare l'elenco “PRINT EN CONFIG” dal TEST
MENU per verificare l'indirizzo MAC del Kit di rete. Quindi, configurare il sistema
operativo della rete (NetWare, UNIX, ecc.) e il Kit di rete. Per maggiori dettagli, vedere il

Realización de conexiones
Conecte el equipo a un ordenador o una red usando un cable de interface que
admita comunicación bidireccional o un cable Ethernet 100Base-TX o 10Base-T.
ADVERTENCIA
Para evitar descargas eléctricas, desenchufe el cable de alimentación de la
toma eléctrica antes de conectar un cable de interface o un cable de red.
(Consulte el Capítulo 1, "Antes de utilizar este equipo", en la Guía de
Referencia.)
NOTA
El equipo no se suministra con un cable de interface o un cable de red. Adquiera el cable
correcto que sea compatible con su ordenador o su red.
Conexión a una red
El equipo dispone de un servidor de impresión interno compatible con una red
TCP/IP, y le permite utilizar el equipo como impresora de red para UNIX y
Windows. El servidor de impresión se suministra con un puerto 100Base-TX/
10Base-T, que le permite conectarlo a una red local.
Los ejemplo de conexión de esta sección le indican cómo conectar el equipo a una
red según del tipo de red local.
NOTA
• El servidor de impresión de este equipo es compatible con redes NetWare. Para más
detalles, consulte a su distribuidor local Canon.
• El servidor de impresión de este equipo detecta automáticamente la conexión de
interface 100Base-TX o 10Base-T.
• Después de conectar el cable de red, lleve a cabo los siguientes procedimientos. Para
conocer los detalles de cada procedimiento, consulte el correspondiente manual.

Conexión a través de un interface paralelo
Este equipo se puede conectar a un ordenador a través de un interface paralelo.
Después de hace la conexión, instale el controlador de impresora y el software de
utilidades suministrado que sea compatible con el sistema operativo de su
ordenador.

Conexión a un ordenador Windows
La mayoría de los ordenadores IBM PC/AT y otros ordenadores compatibles con
Windows contienen una conexión de puerto paralelo de impresora (compatible con
IEEE 1284). Conecte un cable de impresora paralelo a la parte posterior de su
equipo FAX-L2000/L2000IP, y al puerto de impresora de su ordenador.

Conexión a través de un interface USB
Este equipo se puede conectar a un ordenador a través de un interface USB.
Después de hace la conexión, instale el controlador de impresora y el software de
utilidades suministrado que sea compatible con el sistema operativo de su
ordenador.
Para más información sobre la instalación del controlador de impresora y el
software de utilidades, consulte “Instrucciones de instalación del software,” en la
pág. 2-6.
Conexión a un ordenador Windows
Conecte un cable USB a la parte posterior de su equipo FAX-L2000/L2000IP, y al
puerto USB de su ordenador.

La utilidad de puerto LPR para Microsoft Windows 95/98/Me es el software que le permite
imprimir desde ordenadores con Windows 95/98/Me en impresoras de una red TCP/IP.
■ Utilidad de monitor de puerto NetBIOS/NetBEUI
La utilidad de monitor de puerto NetBIOS/NetBEUI para Microsoft Windows 95/98/Me es
el software que le permite imprimir desde ordenadores Windows 95/98/Me en impresoras
de una red NetBIOS/NetBEUI.
DSE es un software que le permite examinar la información sobre impresoras
compartidas y administrar los trabajos de impresión mediante un navegador web. Este
software únicamente se puede instalar en ordenadores Windows 2000/XP.

El software Canon NDPS Gateway configura las impresoras Canon para que funcionen
en la arquitectura Novell NetWare NDPS (Novell Distributed Print Services).

Requisitos del sistema

El CD-ROM está diseñado para su uso con ordenadores Windows 95/98/Me,
Windows NT o Windows 2000/XP.

Antes de imprimir, es necesario que instale los controladores de impresora y el
software de utilidades. Cuando instale el software, tenga cuidado de instalar la
versión correcta que sea compatible con el sistema operativo de su ordenador.
IMPORTANTE
Para conocer los detalles de los controladores de impresora y de la instalación del
software, consulte el Capítulo 2, "Introducción", de la Guía del controlador PCL..
En Windows
Para imprimir desde un ordenador Windows 95/98/Me/2000/XP o Windows NT,
instale el controlador de impresora y el software de utilidades desde el CD-ROM
suministrado.
En el CD-ROM suministrado se incluye el siguiente software.
■ Controlador de impresora PCL
Este es un software esencial si desea imprimir desde aplicaciones Windows. Asegúrese
de instalar este software.
■ NetSpot
ESPAÑOL
Este software de utilidad de impresora le permite ver en la pantalla de su ordenador el
estado de una impresora que esté conectada a un ordenador o red. Si configura la
impresora y el Kit de Red, puede manejar la impresora desde el ordenador de igual forma
que lo haría desde el panel de control de la propia impresora. Instale este software si lo
necesita.
Cuando el equipo está conectado a una red
Instale el software de administración de red "NetSpot" que se suministra.
NOTA
• Cuando este equipo se conecte a una red, debe configurar el sistema operativo de red
(NetWare, UNIX, etc.), y el Kit de Red opcional. Para realizar esta configuración,
consulte el Capítulo 1, "Antes de comenzar", de la Guía de Red.
• Cuando el equipo esté conectado a una red, imprima la lista "CONFIG EN IMPR" desde
el MENÚ TEST para comprobar la dirección MAC del Kit de Red. A continuación,
configure el sistema operativo de red (NetWare, UNIX, etc.), y el Kit de Red. Para más
detalles, consulte el Capítulo 3, "Resumen de menús de impresora", de la Guía de
impresora PCL.

Esta sección describe cómo instalar el controlador de impresora, el controlador de
fax y el resto del software incluido el CD-ROM suministrado.
NOTA

Instalar el controlador de impresora PCL
IMPORTANTE
En Windows NT o Windows 2000, inicie la sesión como administrador para instalar el
controlador.

Introduzca el CD-ROM del software de controladores en la
unidad CD-ROM.
❑ Haga doble clic en el icono [Mi PC] ➞ icono de la unidad CD-ROM.
❑ Haga doble clic en las siguientes carpetas: [Drivers] ➞ [español] ➞ [prnsetup].
❑ Haga doble clic en el icono [Setup.exe] para iniciar el proceso de instalación.

la instalación del controlador de impresora.

En el menú [Inicio], señale [Configuración] ➞ haga clic en
[Impresoras].
En la carpeta [Impresoras], haga doble clic en el icono
[Agregar impresora] para iniciar el Asistente para agregar
impresora ➞ siga las instrucciones que aparecen en pantalla
para continuar con la instalación.
Inserte el CD-ROM del software del controlador de impresora
en la unidad de CD-ROM ➞ haga clic en [Utilizar disco].
Haga clic en [Examinar] para seleccionar la carpeta del
controlador que desea instalar ➞ haga clic en [Aceptar].
Puede seleccionar el controlador de las siguientes carpetas del CD-ROM.
