All-loving God, we give you thanks and praise for mothers
young and old.
We pray for young mothers, who give life and count toes
and tend to our every need; May they be blessed with
patience and tenderness to care for their families and
themselves with great joy.
We pray for our own mothers who have nurtured and cared
for us; May they continue to guide us in strong and gentle
ways.
We remember mothers who are separated from their
children because of war, poverty, or conflict; May they feel
the loving embrace of our God who wipes every tear away.
We pray for women who are not mothers but still love and
shape us with motherly care and compassion.
We remember mothers. grandmothers, and greatgrandmothers who are no longer with us but who live
forever in our memory and nourish us with their love.
Amen.

As Christian stewards, we receive God’s gifts gratefully,
cultivate them responsibly, share them lovingly in justice with
others, and return them with increase to the Lord.
Next week, our parish will take up the Collection
for the Catholic Communication Campaign. This
collection communicates the Gospel through
Catholic social media activities and enriches our
faith through podcasts, television, radio, and print
media. Half of all proceeds remain in our
archdiocese and support local needs, so please be
generous in this collection.
God’s love for us is the common theme of today’s Scripture passages. His love is manifested through the gift of
His Son, Jesus, Who commands us to love one another as He has loved us. Jesus proclaims that there is no
greater love than to lay down one’s life for a friend. In gratitude for God’s gifts, how are we, as good stewards,
returning this love to God and neighbor?
PCCW Monthly Meeting
Monday, May 18 - 7:00 p.m.

plastic bottle
caps!

In the Administrative Hall.
Refreshments will be served.

Special Collection - May 23-24
There will be a special collection
for Catholic Relief Services to
assist with the relief efforts in
Nepal. CRS has made an initial
commitment of $825,000 to relief
efforts in Nepal, a figure that is
expected to rise as the needs
become clearer. The official death
toll is over 6,000 – with thousands
more injured — but few outlying
villages have been reached and
widespread destruction, especially
in hillside settlements, is feared.
Your
generosity
is
greatly
appreciated.
For the month of
May the Parish
Council of Catholic Women will
be collecting plastic bottle caps.
The caps will be recycled to raise
money to buy wheelchairs for
disabled children. A box will be in
the Administrative Hall. FYI the
website is www.capsoflove.com.
