God challenged the elderly Abram and his wife to leave home for a land that God would show them. Their eyes would see the land, but only God could “show” it as a divine gift. Paul reminded Timothy that God’s grace had always been available, but in Jesus Christ was made “manifest.” Jesus called Peter, James, and John up the mountain and was “transfigured” for a moment, the radiance of God shining through. Then, just as abruptly, the three looked up . . . and saw only Jesus. During Lent we’re invited to “see through” to God’s presence in the stuff of life: prowling the supermarket, waiting in traffic, arguing with the kids, cleaning the bathtub. We wouldn’t really have to “do” anything, if we could only glimpse divine love supporting us, holding us together. . . y sólo vieron a Jesús. Copyright © J. S. If you wish you could leave them out side at the base of the Saint Statues located on the west side of the church building. Have you noticed the “Sign of Hope” outside our parish? Through this sign we wish to convey to pregnant mothers in crisis that in the conception of each and every child, the members of this parish see a brand new gift of God's perfect love. No pregnant mother of any age should feel alone or afraid because of the unexpected blessing of a child. Volunteers from parishes throughout our diocese are ready to stand beside any mother who needs help and to personally care for her throughout her pregnancy and beyond. We're looking for our Alumni. If you are an alumni or know an alumni, please contact us at [email protected]. Most Holy Trinity Preschool Thank you to all of the wonderful parishioners who have supported our preschool since opening in August of 2012. We are about halfway through our second year and we could not be more proud of what these young children are now able to accomplish. We are now working on our plan to expand the preschool from a maximum of 14 students at any time to 28 students at any time. We are starting the project in February to update the outside of the preschool to meet all of the necessary conditions given by the city. Dear Parishioners of Most Holy Trinity Parish, God bless you on this Second Sunday of Lent. We at the school hope the beginning of this Lenten season has brought you and your families closer to God in preparation for the coming of his Son. The rest of the project is going to be worked on over the summer. We are working on raising $85,000 over the next few months so that we can complete the project. We are hoping that parishioners will be able to come out to our fund raising events, such as the first bingo of every month, to help support the preschool project. The students at Most Holy Trinity School have begun celebrating Lent with their Lenten families, which are groups made up of about 30 students from all different grades. Every Friday during Lent, the students line up in their families for morning assembly and participate in an activity such as the Stations of the Cross or creating mini stained glass windows. The past two weeks, the Lenten families have focused on studying the Stations of the Cross. The groups have met in the church and walked through the Stations, learning about each along the way. We are beginning the enrollment process for the 2014-2015 school year. If you are interested in Most Holy Trinity Preschool please feel free to contact Jessica Roberts at (408) 929-2287. We also instill a sense of the importance of Lenten almsgiving in our students. Each class and its buddy class has an empty water jug that they work to fill with coins by the end of the season. The collected funds will go toward supplying clean water for villages in Africa. Thank you for your continual support! Most Holy Trinity Preschool LIC# 434412400 2033 Nassau Drive, San Jose, CA 95122 408-929-2287 In addition to celebrating the spirit of Lent, we at Most Holy Trinity School are looking forward to several upcoming events. On the 22nd of this month, a group of female students in grades four through eight will be participating in a STEM Day, or Science, Technology, Engineering and Math Day, sponsored by Texas Instruments. We were very lucky to be invited to this exciting event and cannot wait to hear about everything our girls learn. We are also looking forward for our annual Casino Night, which will take place on April 5. All are invited to purchase tickets to this wonderful fundraiser. The event features casino tables where attendees bet play money, which they later use to enter raffles for a variety of gift baskets. May God be with you and your families in the coming week! The numbers are even higher in African American and Hispanic communities, where nearly 40% of the children are overweight or obese. If we don't solve this problem, one third of ALL children born in 2000 or later will suffer from chronic obesity-related health problems like heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, cancer, and asthma. Gym class and after-school sports have been cut There is more TV, video games, and the internet. Families eat fewer home-cooked meals and portion sizes are bigger. We are now eating 31 percent more calories than we were forty years ago–including 56 percent more fats and oils and 14 percent more sugars and sweeteners. The average American now eats fifteen more pounds of sugar a year than in 1970. The good news is that by making just a few lifestyle changes, we can help our children lead healthier lives–and we already have the tools we need to do it. We just need the will. HEALTH MINISTRY AND LOS AMIGOS ZUMBA For date and time see calendar on Community Room door.
