Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
This Sunday at the 11:00 Mass the members of the Saint Vincent De Paul Society here at our parish
will renew their commitment to serve Christ in their brothers and sisters who are in need.
This organization is one that strives to live the Gospel by giving of their time and talent for the good of
others. They prepare food boxes for the hungry and reach out to those who are suffering. They see
Christ in the poor and strive to be Christ for them.
This is the most important aspect of this charity. The material goods are needed and supplied as best
as possible, but what makes a difference is the love of Christ which pours out of the hearts of the Vincentians for the good of others.
We are all called to this in the Gospel. Jesus urges us to die to ourselves and to be ready to serve as
He did. He shows us a way to happiness that passes through sharing, giving, serving, loving and seeking to put others first. He commands us to love others in the same way that we have been loved by
Him, with compassion, mercy and forgiveness. He invites us to give freely as it has been given freely to
us by Him.
I would like to thank all of the members of St. Vincent De Paul for their generous service and all of you
for your response to the call of Jesus. May His light shine through us in all we do and think and say for
the glory of God and the good of souls.

Estimados Hermanos y Hermanas en Cristo,
Este Domingo en la misa de las 11:00 los miembros de la Sociedad de San Vicente de Paul renuevan
su compromiso de servir a Cristo en sus hermanos y hermanas necesitados.
Esta organización busca vivir el Evangelio dando su tiempo y talentos para el bien de los demás. Preparan cajas de comida para los hambrientos y dan la mano a los que sufren. Ven a Jesús en los pobres y buscan ser Jesús para ellos.
Esto es lo más importante de esta obra de caridad. Los bienes materiales son necesarios y procurados, pero lo que hace la diferencia es el amor de Cristo que rebosa de los corazones de estos servidores para el bien de los demás.
Todos somos llamados a esto en el Evangelio. Jesús nos exige morir a nosotros mismos para servir
como El. Nos manifiesta que el camino de la felicidad pasa por la generosidad, servicio y amor que pone a los demás primero. Nos manda amar al prójimo como El nos ha amado con compasión, misericordia y perdón. Nos invita a dar gratis lo que hemos recibido gratis de El.
Agradezco a todos los miembros de la Sociedad de San Vicente de Paul por su servicio generoso y
agradezco a todos ustedes por responder a la llamada de Jesús. ¡Que la luz de Cristo brille en todas

ADULT SACRAMENT CLASSES
The sacramental formation of adults and the process
by which they are initiated into the Church is known
as the “Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults” or
“RCIA”. These sessions are designed to help adults
grow in awareness to God’s call to conversion as
well as ways to respond to that call. We welcome
adults who have never been baptized to join us on
the upcoming RCIA journey. Classes will be held on
Tuesday evenings beginning September 27, 2016.

BLOOD DRIVE
Please join us on Sun. 9/11 at Queen of Peace from 10am - 3pm for
our lifesaving blood drive. Appointments are strongly recommended
for planning purposes. You can sign up this weekend.
Did you know...?
*Several blood types currently have just a 1 or 2 day supply on hand.
*Our community is always faced with a shortage situation after a
holiday; please help us during this critical needs time and donate at
our drive on 9/11.
*One simple donation can save up to three local lives and all types
are needed in our large community.
*Blood can take a few days to test and process; please do not wait for
an emergency to donate. Blood needs to be on the shelves and ready
when patients are in need.
*500 donors are needed each day in Arizona to maintain our community blood supply.
On behalf of patients that benefit from blood donations, thank you
for being a blood donor - we hope to see you at our drive on Sept
11th!

We see Christ in the poor and when we
see Christ we experience God.

A BIBLICAL WALK THROUGH THE MASS

the Mass as never before, leading you to a richer, more fruitful worship experience.

URGENT All Parishioners
We are in Urgent need of Extra-Ordinary Ministers
of Holy Communion and Lector’s, for all the Sunday English Masses we are scheduling 2 Readers
per Mass . The r equir ements ar e that you have all
your sacraments and if married must be married
through the Roman Catholic Church, and be active
members of Queen of Peace and have taken the
Foundation Class for Safe Environment. You know
that we would love to serve the Precious Blood of
our Lord, at ever y Mass only sometimes we can’t
because we do not have enough ministers. For more

Urgent to all Parishioners
We are also in very urgent need of Ushers & Altar
Servers at all Masses, especially the 4:00pm Sunday Mass.
The requirements for the Altar Servers are that they
have received the sacraments of Baptism, 1st Confession, First Holy Communion, & Confirmation. Their
parents need to be registered and active members of
Queen of Peace. Training will be scheduled, depending on the response.
For the Ushers, the r equir ements ar e that you
have all your sacraments and if married must be married through the Roman Catholic Church, and be registered and active members of Queen of Peace and
have taken the Safe Environment training.

LOOKING FOR VOLUNTEERS FOR OUR PROGRAM
Handing down our Catholic faith to the next generation is
one of the most important obligations we have. We ask
the whole parish to pray for our Family Faith Formation
program. Please consider taking part in this work as a
catechist or aide. Training will be provided. Call the parish

PARISH PLAY
In honor of the canonization of Mother Teresa as Saint Teresa of
Calcutta on September 4th, the Queen of Peace Theater Group will
preform Malcolm and Teresa on September 10th at 7 pm. Doors
will open at 6:15 pm after the 5 pm mass and the Knights of Columbus will be selling refreshments before the play and during
intermission. Tickets will be available at the parish office for
$15.00 with proceeds going to Queen of Peace debt. Any questions on the play should be directed to Art Gordillo 480-593-8224.
Safe Environment certification is r equir ed for all volunteer s at
Queen of Peace. Everyone must first take the Foundation class then a
renewal every other year or every year if you work with children, are a
member of St. Vincent de Paul or the Knights of Columbus. The following classes will be held in English at Queen of Peace. All classes will be
in the St, Thomas Aquinas room of the Family Faith Formation Building
(room 3 in the old school).
