Dear Parishioners of St. Anne,
In the light of the recent events in the United States, I want to address this my first Pastoral
Letter to you. I want to ask all in our community to support the responses from our Church’s
authorities and with love, stand up for matters related to marriage and religious freedom.
Here is the statement from Cardinal DiNardo:

Statement re. Supreme Court Ruling on Marriage
The Supreme Court's narrow majority decision today is gravely unjust as it attempts to change
the nature of marriage. Mandating marriage redefinition across the country is a tragic error
harming the common good and the most vulnerable among us. The ruling does not and cannot
change what marriage really is. No one and no court can make what is false true.
Marriage is a perennial institution, with deep roots in who we are and in our nation's culture
and laws. Marriage is and always will be the union between one man and one woman. This
truth is inseparable from the duty to honor the God-given dignity of every human person, to
protect the beautiful truth of marriage, which concerns the essential well-being of the nation,
especially children. Children have a basic right, wherever possible, to know and be loved by
their mother and father together. The law has a duty to support every child in this most basic
right.
With renewed purpose, we call upon all people of good will to promote and defend marriage
as the union of one man and one woman for life. The redefinition of legal marriage to include
any other type of relationship has serious consequences, especially for religious freedom.
Our Church will continue its efforts to support public policy issues, including a version of the
marriage and religious freedom act, which would prohibit the government from discriminating
against those who act in accordance with a religious belief or moral conviction that marriage
is the union between a man and woman.
I encourage the faithful of the Archdiocese to move forward with faith, hope, and love: faith in
the unchanging truth about marriage, hope that these truths will once again prevail in our society, and love for all our neighbors. Together, we must increase our efforts to strengthen
marriages and families and rebuild a marriage culture. And, we shall continue to reach out
with love and support to all people, including those who experience same-sex attraction
knowing that all people are loved by God and are called to love Him.

The marquee sign that welcomes our entire St. Anne Community has
had a makeover, complete with a digital LED display and landscaping.
This will be a wonderful back to school surprise for our students and a
valuable communication medium for our families.
A special thank you is extended to all who made this undertaking
possible, from our local business sponsors including RAC Materials,
Klein Funeral Homes, Agana and Associates, Action Window Coverings, Big Nose Signs, Dr. James Hanigan, Business Floor Solutions,
and King Suds Car Wash, as well as our St. Anne families who
purchased bricks.
There is still time before our campaign comes to an end.
Guide Book & Directory
Advertising Opportunity
We are in the process of updating our annual Guide
Book & Directory for the church. This book will contain
everything pertinent to our church: the various
ministries, organizations, committees activities,
functions and events plus a complete directory of all
members. This book is being provided and direct-mailed
to each family at no cost to our church, and it is again
being subsidized by local businesses that advertise. If
you own or manage a business and would like to find
out about advertising in our book, please call the Parish
Office by July 30, 2015.
Recent survey results by Guide Book Publishing show
that 92.1% of families would rather patronize a Guide
Book & Directory advertiser over a non-advertiser. It
“will pay” to advertise in our new Guide Book &
Directory.
Though the sign is up, we continue building a reserve fund
for upkeep and maintenance of the area, and the brick
fundraiser has been very helpful in this endeavor. If you
have not had a chance to purchase a brick in support of the
sign, please consider visiting the website below to be a part

This week we recognize: Col. Tom Hipskind
Col. Tom Hipskind is in the US Army Stationed in Ft. Riley, KS.
Deployed to Iraq 12/22/2014 with the 1st Infantry Battalion. He has
served a total of four tours both in Iraq and Afghanistan. He is
currently working on a Masters Degree in Security Management.
He presently works at MCTP (Mission Command Training
Program). Please keep Tom and his family in your thoughts and
prayers.

The 3rd Diocesan Services Fund (DSF) appeal letter was
mailed out by the Archdiocese this week. We are one of
a few parishes that have not made our goal of $111,000.
If you receive your letter in the mail, please send it back
with your pledge. The young people, who are critical to
the future of our Church, benefit greatly from these
funds. Thank You for your generous support!!
EDUCATION, PROGRAMS, SACRAMENTS
A message from Father Thomas Hopper regarding Faith Formation & Youth Ministry Registrations for
Fall 2015-2016
Effective July 1, 2015
We sincerely thank you for being a part of our faith formation and Youth Ministry programs this year. In
order to maintain the excellence of our programs, St. Anne-Tomball has found it necessary, to raise the fees
for 2015-2016 for non-registered families by $50. It is unfor tunate that due to the lack of sufficient
funding from our various Faith Formation programs we must find ways to cover the funds to assist with these
losses from this past year. It is our hope that we will not have to pass along fee increases to families who are
registered with St. Anne.
If your family is not registered at St. Anne Parish, we encourage you to do so BEFORE fall registration.
By becoming a registered member of our parish, you join yourself to all those parishioners who by their
sacrifices are part of what is making St. Anne a proud parish family. If you are already an active member of
our community, we thank you sincerely for worshiping with us.
If you are new to our parish community please consider helping with our CCE classes as well as with our
Baptism/Wedding/RCIA/Adult Confirmation ministries. We are in dire need of assistance from YOU our
fellow parishioners in order to make these ministries work. You as parishioners are the “church family” of this
parish and without your help we cannot do it alone. With your help we can move forward in growth of our
programs. Thank you.

Classes begin September 13th.
You may register after the 5 p.m. mass on August 15, after mass at 8 a.m., 10 a.m. or 12 p.m. (Spanish mass) on August 16, in
the Gym.
You may also register early at the parish office Monday – Friday 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. If your child is going to make their First
Communion in this school year, bring a copy of their baptismal certificate at the time of registration to keep with the records.

copy of your child’s birth certificate in order to register your child.
Please note that you will not be able to set a Baptism date until you
and the sponsors have taken both classes. Children 7 years and older
will need to take the first year of CCE before preparing for the
Children’s R.C.I.C. (Rite of Christian Initiation of Children).
This will include the 3 Sacraments of Initiation, Baptism,
Confirmation, and First Eucharist.

Queridos parroquianos de Santa Ana,
A la luz de los recientes acontecimientos en los Estados Unidos, deseo dirigirles esta mi
primera carta Pastoral para pedirles a todos en nuestra comunidad que apoyen las respuestas
de las autoridades de la iglesia y con amor, defiende nuestras convicciones relacionadas con
el matrimonio y la libertad religiosa.

Declaración respecto a la decisión de la Corte Suprema sobre el matrimonio
La decisión de la Corte Suprema por una estrecha mayoría, hoy es gravemente injusta en su
intento de cambiar la naturaleza del matrimonio. La obligatoriedad de redefinición del
matrimonio en todo el país es un trágico error que daña el bien común y a los más vulnerables
entre nosotros. El fallo no puede ni debe cambiar lo que es el matrimonio en realidad.
Nadie, ni ningún tribunal puede hacer verdadero lo que es falso.
El matrimonio es una institución perenne, con profundas raíces en quienes somos y en la
cultura y las leyes de nuestra nación. El matrimonio es y será siempre, la unión entre un
hombre y una mujer. Esta verdad es inseparable del deber de honrar la dignidad dada por
Dios de cada persona humana, para proteger la hermosa verdad del matrimonio, que se
refiere al bienestar esencial de la nación, especialmente los niños. Los niños tienen un
derecho básico, siempre que sea posible, a conocer y ser amados por su madre y su padre,
juntos. La ley tiene el deber de apoyar este derecho más básico de todos los niños.
Con un renovado propósito, hacemos un llamado a todas las personas de buena voluntad a
promover y defender el matrimonio como la unión de un hombre y una mujer para toda la
vida. La redefinición del matrimonio legal para incluir cualquier otro tipo de relación tiene
consecuencias graves, sobre todo para la libertad religiosa.

“Le agradecemos sinceramente ser parte de nuestros programas de formación de Fé y Pastoral juvenil este año.
Para mantener la excelencia de nuestros programas, St. Anne -Tomball se ve obligada a incrementar en $ 50.00 la
cuota para familias no registradas por el periodo 2015-2016. Desafortunadamente y debido a la insuficiencia de fondos
para los diversos programas de formación de fe, debemos encontrar la forma de cubrir las pérdidas del año pasado.
Confiamos no tener que aplicar este incremento a las familias registradas en Santa Ana.
Si su familia no está registrada en la parroquia de St. Anne, los animamos a hacerlo antes de las inscripciones de otoño
Al registrarse en nuestra parroquia se une a todos los feligreses, quienes por sus sacrificios son parte de lo que está

BAUTIZOS
Se aceptarán primero a las familias registradas.
Las familias no registradas serán puestas en una lista de espera y
acomodadas según el espacio permita.
Para asistir a la clase y bautizar aquí en Santa Ana necesita
inscribir a su niño/niña. La próxima clase es el 8 de Agosto.
Favor de llamar a la oficina con anticipación de por lo menos 14
días antes de la clase. Traiga el certificado de nacimiento de su
niño/niña cuando venga a su cita. Los padres y los padrinos
necesitan asistir a la clase. No podrán poner fecha para el bautizo
hasta después que tomen su clase.
Para niños mayors de siete años necesitar án tomar la clase de
RICA . Esto incluira los sacramentos de Iniciación, Bautismo,
Confirmación y Primera Eucaristía.
EDUCACIÓN CATOLICA CONTINUA (CCE)
Primera Comunión para niños.
Es un programa para niños desde el primero a quinto grados. Si
hay muchas inscripciones, a veces se ofrecen clases en pre-k y
kindergarten. Para estudiantes en el sexto grado y los mayores,
hay programas de educación religiosa que se llaman Edge y Life
Teen. El programa para la preparación de los sacramentos
Reconciliación y Eucaristía, es de un ciclo de dos años.

SAGRADA COMUNIÓN PARA LOS
ENFERMOS

comunidad el servicio de llevar la Sagrada Comunión a quienes

El llamado a la juventud también es para que los jóvenes
