You are most welcome to Sacred Heart Church. Parish registration forms are available in the Gathering Space and at the Parish Office. If you are moving out of the parish, please notify us. SACRAMENTAL MINISTRY BAPTISMS: Saturdays at noon and within the celebration of Mass (except during Lent). Parents are required to attend a Preparation Class held on the 2nd Monday of the month. Please call the Religious Education Office to arrange for both Preparation Class and Baptism. RECONCILIATION: Confessions are heard on Saturdays from 5:15-5:45p.m. (Little Church) and by appointment. Parish Reconciliation Services are held during Advent and Lent. MARRIAGE: Couples planning to be married should contact a priest or deacon at least six months before the anticipated date. All engaged couples must take a Marriage Preparation Course. Do not set a date until you have met with the priest or deacon. COMMUNION TO THE SICK: If someone is in the hospital or homebound and unable to attend Mass and wishes to receive communion, please contact the Parish Office. Mass is celebrated at FutureCare-Cherrywood Nursing Home on the 2nd Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. ANOINTING OF THE SICK: In case of emergency call the Parish Office/Rectory at anytime. Please notify the Parish Office if you know someone in the hospital or at home who wishes to be anointed. Masses of Anointing are celebrated several times a year. RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION OF ADULTS/RITO DE LA INITIACION CRISIANA DE LOS ADULTOS: RCIA/RICA prepares adults (English and Spanish speaking) for full communion in the Catholic Church. New Office Hours for Parish Center Beginning Tuesday, July 5, 2016 the new office hours will be from 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM and from 1:15 PM to 8:30 PM. From 4:30 PM to 8:30 PM the office will be staffed with part-time Office Staff who will be able take messages and forward your concerns to the appropriate voice mails. Mass cards will also be available during the day and in the evening hours. Charismatic Prayer Meeting The Life in the Spirit Charismatic Prayer Meeting will be held every Wednesday at 7:30 PM in the 2nd floor Youth Room. Individual Prayer will be held 7-7:30 PM. Sacred Heart 21 Club We urge all sellers of the 21 Club tickets to pick up your tickets and list in the Parish Center Office at any time between 8:30 AM and 12:30PM and 1:15PM – 8:30 PM. This is such a painless way for Sacred Heart Parish to raise money for the needs of our church! It can also put some extra cash in your pocket! Christian Formation and Evangelization Year of Mercy Pope Francis has declared a Year of Mercy beginning on December 8, 2015 and continuing until November, 2016. Let us practice the Spiritual Works of Mercy during this Jubilee Year. Remember your compassion and your mercy, O Lord, for they are ages old. Remember no more the sins of my youth. Psalm 25:6 -Have I forgiven myself for “the sins of my youth”? -Have I done something wrong in the past that still haunts me? -Is God calling me to show myself mercy? Are You Interested in the Catholic Faith? Saint Charles and Sacred Heart will soon begin a new journey in faith to share the richness of the Catholic Church and our parish family. Religious Education 2016-17 Discount Reminder As a reminder, there is a discount for all families (with new or returning students) who register for our 2016-17 religion classes by June 30, so to take advantage and help us plan our classes, please register your children soon! Vacation Bible School Thank You We give a big thank you to all of our fantastic volunteers and enthusiastic campers who helped us to have a marvelous time at this year’s Christmas in June VBS while learning that Jesus is our best gift! Many thanks also for your very generous donations of food and baby items that were given to the St. Vincent de Paul Society, Community Crisis Center, and pregnancy center to assist families in need. You truly helped to show your children a great example of how to share God’s love with others. And thank you for the many donations of materials and snacks that enabled us to be ready for VBS! Children’s Liturgy of the Word: Help Needed CLOW is on summer vacation! Each week at the 9:00 AM Mass from September – June, our parish children can participate in a liturgy geared toward their age and understanding. This meaningful Mass experience can make such a difference helping to build a stronger faith foundation. Our teachers and timers usually help out every four – six weeks, and lessons and materials are supplied. The Children’s Liturgy of the Word (CLOW) will return after Labor Day, so please contact Sister Cecilia ([email protected] or 410-833-8515) if you can offer a few Sundays a year to our ministry. through Shield the Vulnerable – a compliance management system that will allow all parishes and schools to facilitate compliance with archdiocesan child protection requirements for all volunteers who work with minors, employees, and clergy. Sharing Christ's Love With the Future Care Residents The Sacred Heart Respect Life Committee invites you to share the love of Christ by singing patriotic songs with the residents of Future Care Cherrywood Nursing Home (located on 12020 Reisterstown Road) on Tuesday, July 5, from 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM. We will meet in the lobby at 6:25 PM. We will be distributing cards from Vacation Bible School participants to the residents. Prayer Shawl Ministry Prayer Shawls are made for folks who are seriously ill or have a serious disability. Formal dress is certainly not expected, but out of respect for the Blessed Sacrament, for fellow worshippers and reverence for our sacred space, please refrain from wearing overly casual dress, such as beach attire, halter-tops, and short shorts.
