Candidate Statement for Dwight jaeger 4 principles I will
Candidate Statement for Dwight jaeger 4 principles I will emphasize: Honesty- All public servants, elected or appointed, must be honest with the public. If we want educated voters, they need the truth. Unity -All policies should apply equally to all. Giving special favors just leads to division. Budget- Taxpayers fund Public schools. My main goal wiJJ be to ensure taxpayer dollars are used wisely. Quality- The capability of graduating students is declining. I have personally seen this during my 20 years on a board for NMSU. Local control is the key. My wife and I moved to Prescott Arizona in 2007 after retiring. We have 2 daughters. Our daughters have collage degrees, one has a PhD and the other has teaching experience. One of my grandsons won a California robotics competition this year and finished 9 in the world competition. I have always felt education was the key to the future and I believe my family experiences demonstrate that I have followed through in that belief. We love the Prescott area. The school board will be a good way for me to give back to the community. Professional experience I gravitated toward science and technology early in life. I won the New Mexico State science fair in 1960. This helped me get into the first of my 3 careers. I entered college on a Navy co-op program to develop a predecessor to the current GPS system. In this career, I spent 9 years in the electronic design and computer development field. I earned three engineering degrees (Bachelors, Masters, and PhD) in Mechanical Engineering. I started my post-graduate career at Boeing, working in the airplane design and propulsion field for 7 years. I obtained a Professional Engineering license in 1975, which I maintained for over 30 years. In 1976 I joined the Los Alamos Scientific Laboratory to pursue a 30-year career in Nuclear weapons engineering. During this time I led organizations with budgets over $30M a year with control over much larger sums within the nuclear weapons complex. Toward the end of this career, I was a scientific advisor at the Department of Energy DC headquarters. I also served a 2+ year assignment as an advisor in the Department of Defense's office of the Assistant to the Secretary of Defense at the Pentagon. This assignment started in the Clinton administration and finished in the Bush administration. Upon returning to Los Alamos, I held the positions of "Chief engineer" for the nuclear weapons program and was the "Office Director" for strategic planning. During my time in Los Alamos, I served several years in board positions on the Los Alamos Ski Club. At that time the club had 4200 members and owned a ski mountain. In the late 1980s I was elected President, and thus I was effectively the "CEO" of a small business with the associated equipment, utility power requirements, personnel (up to 50), city government, and legal problems that come with running small businesses.
