THE MAYOR’S SMALL BUSINESS EXPO A SUCCESS!
On Wednesday September 29, the Office of
Miami-Dade Mayor Carlos Alvarez held a “Small Business
Development Expo” in conjunction with three Chambers of
Commerce – the South Florida Puerto Rican Chamber of
Commerce (Luis De Rosa, President); the Hialeah Chamber of
Commerce & Industries (Mandy Llanes, President) and the
South Florida Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (Lilliam Lopez,
President). The event was a success – drawing near to 200 visitors and
participants despite the tropical storm conditions. The Expo demonstrated
the Mayor’s ongoing commitment to supporting our County’s Small
Business Community. According to Suzanne Salichs (Project
Administrator, Office of the Mayor) Mayor Alvarez organizes these events
to assist in the growth of small businesses and job creation by bringing
together leaders from the business, financial and government communities.
Hon. Carlos Alvarez,
Mayor, Miami-Dade County
The Expo was opened by Luis De Rosa, who spoke briefly about
how small businesses are the backbone of our economy and how
expanding into new markets such as Puerto Rico offer new opportunities for
growth. Suzanne Salichs welcomed all the participants and visitors to the
Expo in the name of Mayor Alvarez, and spoke about his
commitment to business.
Mandy
Llanes served as the MC of the event
and described the services available
through the Hialeah Chamber of
Commerce. Lilliam Lopez spoke of the
importance of Chambers developing
partnerships to increase the benefits
available to all their members.
The presenters had table tops for
display – with information and
