ARTIST STATEMENT: I put to your consideration a series of hyperrealistic works and where symbolic objects and stories are trapped in crystals. Occasionally deteriorated represent Landmarks of our Havana, some close to collapse and could not exist morning. Sometimes show "contained" ephemeral situations in the inside transparent containers for domestic use, and that paint them are "preserved" for posterity. All match the concern to shape the present and historic moment for fear they disappear in time. I paint realities inside glass containers due to the need to portray the consequences of decades of madness and authoritarianism in Cuba. is a kind of catharsis which shows the situation of deaf confinement, drowned and transparent where Cubans still live. Also the isolation caused by politics and by our Island unavoidable condition. The glass is both a symbol of the contained and trapped physical reality of life, limited by invisible barriers that aspires to infinity and awaits. The Royal Palm is the protagonist in some other works, symbolizing our nationality; through it, personifying speech our situation as a nation. Make metaphors from the landscape It is a way to express where dissent is punished. So these works have different reading levels: spiritual, social, political and biblical, as many of the titles They correspond with verses from the scriptures with the aim to direct the viewer to a reflection not only contextual but the universal par. Now it needs the public to make their own reading and re-create the work from their individuality.
