Competition 1
Most original picture of your flight by airplane!

“Have you been on a plane? Have you seen a plane fly? Do you enjoy taking pictures? This is your opportunity to show the rest of
the world your great talent. Send us a picture related to planes, flying, airspace… let your imagination fly to that amazing moment
when you were travelling by plane or use your imagination to create a picture related to airspace, pilots... If you get to the final you
will be competing against candidates in the whole of Europe. Imagine how far your photograph could go! You will be known by
students at schools all over Europe!”
Age Scope: This activity is open to 11- to 16-year-olds. Submission of photographs taken by children below this age range will need
an accompanying letter to justify the submission and they will be accepted on a case-by-case basis.
Objective: Foster the imagination of children and spread the pleasure of travelling. Encourage young people’s passion for aeronautics,
showing them the interesting topics that they might find in this field, with the aim of attracting them at a later stage to scientific and
technical careers in the aeronautical sector.
Procedure: Candidates can email the photograph to [email protected]. Instructions for sending can be consulted at
www.flyhigher.eu/childrenyouth
Topic: Aeronautics and aerospace, e.g. holiday flight, scenes at an airport, planes flying overhead, etc.
Prizes: 3 prizes will be awarded according to the following categories: Most original, Most aviation, Best woman in aviation. All
submissions will be exhibited and the winners will be announced in the final conference and in the website.
Timeframe: The competition will run from October 2013, simultaneously in all countries until March 2014. Awards will be given in
April 2014.

The school with more participants will be awarded a diploma and its name will be published in the Fly Higher web page.
HOW TO PARTICIPATE
Children and youngsters can participate in the competition by accessing in the project
websitehttp://www.flyhigher.eu/.
Any technical problems should be reported to [email protected] . FLY HIGHER Project
will not be liable for any losses resulting from technical problems, whether the fault of FLY
HIGHER Project or not.
TIMEFRAME:
The competition will run in EU countries from October 2013 until March 2014. Awards will be
given in April 2014.
PRIZE:
Three Awards will be given in each competition to:
 Most original picture: Evaluating creativity and art of the photograph .Most creative
Artwork.
 Most aviation: Evaluating the most inspiring and interesting aviation depiction.
 Most illustrative women presence in aviation: Evaluating the picture which best
shows women involved in the field of aeronautics.
The award will consist of:
To Students:
 A gift item valued around 50 euros per award, to the Most Original, Most Aviation and
Illustrative Woman.
 Publication of the name and photograph of the winner on the website.
 Winners will be mentioned in the project final conference.
To schools:
 FLY HIGHER winner certificate for the schools of the winner students.
 FLY HIGHER winner certificate for the school with the largest number of participants.
 FLY HIGHER participant certificate for the schools with at least 25 student in the
competition.
REQUIREMENTS:
All the pictures must express a relation to aeronautics. The photographs should be uploaded in
the website before the 31st of March 2014 to be valid.
COMPETITION PURPOSE:
Foster the imagination of children and spread the pleasure of travelling. Encourage young
people’s passion for aeronautics, showing them the interesting topics that they might find in
this field, with the aim of attracting them at a later stage to scientific and technical careers in
the aeronautical sector.
ACCEPTANCE
The Prize must be accepted as provided. The Prize will be awarded to the Winner after 20 days
and following all verification checks. Each Prize must be accepted as described in these rules
and cannot be transferred to another person.
WINNERS SELECTION
The prize winner will be the person that better show the aviation in relation with the
categories under the FLYHIGHER judge’s opinion, this expert board will be made by the
Flyhigher Project partners. The names of the winners will be published on www.flyhigher.eu
in April 2014. The decision of the judges is final. The judges reserve the right to modify the
competition rules and/or submission procedures as deemed necessary should a technical issue
arise during the competition. The judges reserve the right to make clarifications with regards
to the competition rules as deemed necessary.
PARTICIPATING LOCATIONS
The competition can only be entered and won through the FLYHIGHER website.
HOW TO WIN
To be declared a Winner of the Contest, Candidates must email or upload the photograph to
the Web Platform in any image file format or PDF file. Photographs and photo-collages are
accepted. In addition, before being declared a Winner, each Winner, will be required to sign a
standard Release and Indemnity Form specific to the Prize confirming understanding,
compliance with and acceptance of the Contest rules and acceptance of the Prize was awarded
and a release of all liability satisfactory to FLYHIGHER Project and return the signed form.
ELIGIBIILTY
The Contest is open only to residents of EU countries. This contest is open from 9 to 16-yearolds during the contest dates. Submission of photographs taken by children below this age
range will need an accompanying letter to justify the submission and they will be accepted on
a case-by-case basis.
PERMITTED DEVELOPMENT TOOLS:
The picture could be made by any device able to do so.
CONDITIONS OF ENTRY
Participants must:
(i) Acknowledge compliance with these Official Rules including all eligibility
requirements; and
(ii) Agree to be bound by the decisions of FLYHIGHER Project, made in FLYHIGHER's
sole discretion, which shall be final and binding in all matters relating to the Contest.
Entrants who have not complied with these Official Rules are subject to
disqualification.
Participants and/or Winners assume liability for injuries caused, or claimed to be caused by
participating in the Contest, or by the acceptance, possession, or use of any prize awarded,
including but not limited to claims/damages for personal injury, or property damage.
By entering this Contest, the Winner consents to the unlimited reproduction, publication use
and distribution of photographs by FLYHIGHER Project in all forms and media, and in all
manners including advertising, trade, display, editorial, art, advertisements, video production,
exhibitions and website content.
DISCLAIMER
All entries become the property of FLYHIGHER Project, who shall have no liability for lost,
stolen, late, damaged or misdirected entries; for any failure of the website during the
promotional period; for any problems or technical malfunction of any telephone network or
lines, computer online systems, servers, access providers, computer equipment or software;
for failure of any e-mail or entry to be received by FLYHIGHER Project for any reason including,
without limitation, on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or
any website, or any combination thereof; or for any injury or damage to an entrant's or any
other person's computer related to or resulting from participation or downloading any
material in the contest. All entries are subject to verification and will be declared invalid if they
are ineligible, incomplete, forged, falsified, altered or tampered with in any way.
DISCLOSURES
Any attempt by an entrant or other individual, to deliberately damage any website or
undermine the legitimate operation of the Contest, including but not limited to any fraudulent
claims, is a violation of criminal and civil laws. Should such an attempt be made, FLYHIGHER
Project reserves the right to seek remedies and damages from any such individual, to the
fullest extent permitted by law, including criminal prosecution. A Participant engaging in any of
the foregoing activities will be disqualified and will forfeit any Prizes won.
RESERVATIONS OF WEB LEGAL EDUCATION
FLYHIGHER Project reserves the right to suspend, cancel or modify the Contest at any time. If
fraud, technical failures including any network server or hardware failure, viruses, bugs, errors
in programming, or any other errors or other causes beyond the control of FLYHIGHER Project
corrupt the administration, security, integrity or proper play of the Contest.
CONSTRUCTION
All issues and questions concerning the construction, validity, interpretation and enforceability
of these Rules and Regulations, or the rights and obligations of entrant and FLYHIGHER Project
in connection with the Contest, shall be governed by, and construed in accordance with, the
substantive laws of Portugal.
INVALIDITY
The Contest Rules and Regulations and the decisions of FLYHIGHER Project are final and
absolute. All ideas submitted become the property of FLY HIGHER Project without payment of
any compensation in addition to the Prize award to the Winner.
FLYHIGHER Project retains the right, in its absolute discretion, to make substitutions of
equivalent kind or value in the event of the unavailability of any component of the selected
prize for any reason whatsoever.
