// Truly Living Without Limits //
Upon analyzing the demographics of Zrii’s growing pool of
Independent Executives, one might be led to assume that this is a company
better suited to a younger crowd. While it’s true that a large number of
Zrii IEs are on the lower end of the age spectrum, 10-Star leader Alma
Jaramillo is smashing generational barriers and proving that there is no
age limit to success. She brings a wealth of impressive life experience to
the table, and is a shining example that anyone with a will to work and an
appetite for greatness can reach the top in Zrii.
Alma at a Zrii event
Born and raised in Colombia, Alma has developed a passion for learning that has only increased with
time. From a young age she wanted to work in the healthcare industry, and later became an accomplished
physical therapist. Although she has loved her career, she feels that the greatest accomplishment in her life
is reflected in her four children, two grand children, and 45 years of marriage to the love of her life. Being
a good wife and mother has always been Alma’s top priority. Her example of hard work and dedication are
evident in the lives of her children, all of which have earned great success in their individual careers.
Alma was introduced to Zrii by her son, Federico. He already had a solid background in network
marketing before joining the Zrii family himself, and was eager to be a mentor for his mother. Alma
immediately saw huge potential with Zrii’s world class products and Chopra Center endorsement. She
opened the flood gates to learning since she had no prior experience, and followed closely her son’s
instructions. She followed them so closely, in fact, that she earned 10-Star exactly three months after

// Engineer of Success //
Before beginning construction of a highway, engineers typically make
projections for up to 20 or 30 years in order to minimize future maintenance
costs and to anticipate the needs of future population and business growth.
Poor planning and preparation leads to flawed road systems and is a recipe for
wasted time, money, and resources. In Peru, 10-Star Zrii Independent Executive
Christian Nuñez is hard at work building his own highway to success. What
started as a small dirt road has quickly become a large freeway that is enabling

many individuals to drive towards their dreams, and Christian is making sure
that it will last for many years to come.
This 24-year-old Zrii leader grew up in Cusco, Peru; the ancient capital of the Inca Empire and doorway to the
legendary ruins of Machu Picchu. Christian comes from a long line of well-known civil engineers. His father
has traveled all over Peru building roads and highways, and naturally Christian tagged along as a boy. “My
dad is a very hard worker,” he says. “He has always been my mentor; everything I know I learned from him.”
His mother used to work in tourism, but years ago she decided to dedicate all of her time to raising her two
children. Throughout the years Christian has remained very close with his sister, Paola. She is currently a
9-Star Independent Executive, and together they are leading a large crowd of rising stars in Peru.
Christian was working very long hours for a construction company when he first heard about Zrii. At
the time he was about to invest a large sum of money in construction equipment, but once he realized
the economic potential behind Zrii, he decided instead to put that money towards an enrollment pack.

// Student of Zrii University //
“When you join Zrii, you begin a learning process. It’s like going
to college for 3 to 5 years, and graduation is fulfilling your goals and
dreams,” says 9-Star Executive John Barboza. For John, joining Zrii was
nothing more than a simple equation. He figured that in five years his team
could produce $100,000 on one leg and $50,000 on the other, which would
provide him with a $5,000 a month income. Since he had spent 12 years
working a traditional job to make $2,000 a month at the most, giving Zrii a
try was an easy decision. Five years have come and gone, and John’s team

is producing well beyond his initial expectations.
John grew up in San José, Costa Rica, the second youngest of 7 children. He was always an outgoing
and charismatic boy with dreams of being an astronaut and landing on the moon. He attended a convent
school in his youth, and his teachers saw in him a great capacity for leadership. Later he went on to
graduate from Universidad Internacional de las Américas in San José and began a successful career as
an industrial engineer.
One of the greatest challenges that John has faced in his life was the loss of his father to bone cancer in
2008. By the time the cancer was detected it had spread so far that he was unable to undergo radiation or
chemotherapy, and was given 8 to 10 months to live. In the last days of his father’s life, John promised to
always take care of his mother. That promise and the memory of his father drive him to this day to strive for
success and be a hero to his family. “My dad was one of my best friends, so that was a hard thing for me. I

A special message to Zrii IEs
from Dr. Deepak Chopra
Balancing short-term gratification
with your long-term desires
In everyone’s life short-term desires compete with long-term desires, and whoever finds the right
balance will reap the greatest success. If you focus too much on short-term gratification, the following
things become too important: eating, drinking, running errands, keeping everything neat and tidy,
micro-managing others, perfectionism, gossip, and trivial distractions. Experts in time management
point out that all of these are inefficient and wasteful, which is certainly true. But the larger point is that
none of these activities challenges your mind. They require a short attention span, and in place of longterm gratification, you are settling for tiny hits of pleasure. A stream of short-term gratifications is like
eating a candy bar every half hour instead of cooking and enjoying a banquet.
Long-term desires are more emotionally mature because they delay gratification in the service of a
bigger reward. People realize this, which is why they plan for their retirement. Years of hard work lead
to a payoff down the road. But too often those years are not gratifying. They are more like putting in your
time at the salt mines. The trick is to derive the right kind of short-term fulfillment. The right kind isn’t
hard to define. It consists of what you do today to make next year better.
Think of it like writing a book. If you write a page every day, your manuscript will be done next year. A
page doesn’t sound like much, but the catch is that it must fit into the final product. Ernest Hemingway
set himself a daily goal of half a page only. If you can do anything today that consciously goes towards
fulfilling a long-range vision, plan, project, or mission, you will become the Hemingway of your own life.
Here are some suggestions:
1. Set down a single vision, project, or mission.
2. S
et time aside to work on it every day. Work consists of doing research, making
connections, investigating your target audience or market, learning from projects
similar to yours, challenging your assumptions, writing a proposal, seeking a mentor,
partner or confidant to bounce your ideas off, and raising capital if needed.
3. Set interim deadlines that you can reasonably meet every month.
4. Be adaptable about changing your project as it unfolds.
As you see, some real commitment is involved, and you won’t be likely to follow through on this
commitment unless you feel passionate about what you are doing. It’s important, therefore, to think
about what your vision or mission should be. Let me propose an idea that runs counter to a certain
Icons Magazine • SUMMER ISSUE 2015
school of thought. That school focuses on the pursuit of excellence, climbing from “good to great,” or
adopting the habits of highly successful achievers. In other words, you are urged to concentrate on
external goals and the means to achieve them.
In my experience teaching high achievers in business school courses, the one thing they point to as the
cause of their achievement is luck. They look back and realize that they were in the right place at the
right time. A vision that can only succeed on the basis of luck only works for the tiniest sliver of the work
force. Behind every CEO who makes the cover of Fortune magazine there is a trail of frustration littered
with everyone who didn’t make it to the top. Luck is the exact opposite of consciousness.
Creating a Vision from Within
The most fulfilled people in any profession, regardless of who climbs to the top, are those who followed
an inner vision. They consciously shaped their futures from the inside, which is the only place you
have any real control. A large percentage of these people had highly successful careers, but that was
secondary. First and foremost came the freedom to write their own scenario. The externals of your life
fall in line with your internal values and the atmosphere you create around yourself.
So when you sit down to write your long-range vision or mission, consider these criteria.
1. I will be satisfied with the work at every stage.
2. I will benefit everyone around me.
3. The effect on my family will be positive.
4. I will feel creative.
5. I will take pride in my accomplishment.
6. I will be smarter, better, and wiser the more I pursue my vision.
7. I will head into the unknown, a place I want to discover and explore.
Every vision brings setbacks and frustrations; there is inherent stress whenever you step out to
accomplish something no one else has tried before. No amount of self-discipline can control the stress.
Only if you are centered, self-confident, and secure in the values you are sacrificing for will the journey
become conscious.
In the current environment, inner visions are celebrated only after someone has struggled to reach the
top. Along the way, there is more competition than collaboration, and if you don't enter the dog-eat-dog
fray, people will call you weak. We live in the midst of huge abundance. Ruthless, soul-killing tactics
are rewarded, but so is moving upward through consciousness. Sit down with yourself, your family, your
closest confidants, and work
through the seven criteria

// Truly Living the Zrii Lifestyle //
Just what does it mean to live the Zrii lifestyle? If you ask 8-Star
Independent Executive Maru Regueira, she’ll tell you that it’s not anything to be
taken lightly. To be successful in this business and truly live the Zrii lifestyle takes
intense focus and dedication, hard work and perseverance, and most of all, a
serious passion for making your dreams a reality. To make it to the top, you must
make your reasons bigger than your objections. And Maru is well on her way to the
top; she achieved 8-Star in just 8 months! Let’s take a look at her shining example
Maru at a Zrii event
of what it means to truly make Zrii a way of life.
Maru learned to love life from a very young age. Her memories of growing up in Panama City include family trips,
playing at the beach, ballet, having fun with her friends, and even occasionally some good old fashioned mischief.
Her impeccable work ethic developed early on. One of her first jobs was helping deliver milk to the small towns
near Venao Beach in Panama. As a child her dream was to one day open up a beauty salon, a dream that would
later come true. She was raised in a loving home with loving parents who taught her the value of hard work and of
always taking time to help others.
Later Maru went on to earn a degree in marketing and advertising with an emphasis in sales from Universidad
Santa María la Antigua in her hometown. She began working at age 18 as a collections agent at a large bank. She
soon realized, however, that she needed more adrenaline in her life and made a switch to sales. She went from
selling cars to men’s clothing to mobile phones, and, being a natural salesperson, she did very well for herself for
a number of years. Yet her true passion was in fashion, and so she eventually opened her own women’s boutique

Reynaldo Fernández
// 4-Star and Rising //
As Zrii continues to expand globally, new markets provide
opportunities for leaders to emerge and history to be made. In fact, many of
today’s top income earners in Zrii started out as pioneers in new markets.
The dedication and sacrifice of these leaders has made Zrii’s incredible
growth possible, and thousands are duplicating their efforts all around the
world. Reynaldo Fernández is one such pioneer that is blazing a path for
success in Nicaragua.
A new look for Reynaldo
At a young age he and his family left their country temporarily so that his father could study in the United
States. Their stay became indefinite when the Nicaraguan Revolution broke out during the 70’s and 80’s.
Even though his friends dubbed him the Nicaraguan “gringo,” he never lost his love for his native country
and longed to return. He enjoyed a happy childhood and early on gained a love of art. In 1990 when the
Revolution ended, Reynaldo was able to return to his country for a short visit with his father; his first time
back in 15 years. Later, shortly after graduating from Boston College, Reynaldo’s father passed away and he
decided to return to Nicaragua for good.
Reynaldo first heard mention of Zrii while visiting his good friend Hilda Courtney in Costa Rica. She
had recently enrolled and shared her excitement over the amazing products and unmatched potential
to make good money. Even though it required some lifestyle changes on his part, Reynaldo trusted in
his friend’s judgment and became a Zrii Independent Executive. With the goal of making Zrii a reality
in Nicaragua, Reynaldo went right to work with the support of Hilda, Mauricio Castro, and Alexandra
