Eme Alfonso, cantante y compositora de Cuba, usa sus raíces
Afro-Cubanas como base para combinar sonidos más actuales,
como géneros de música de Latinoamerica y jazz.
Eme Alfonso, Cuban singer and songwriter, uses her Afro-Cuban
roots as a basis to combine more modern sounds, such as music
genres from Latin America and jazz.
La Radio Pública Nacional de Estados Unidos la señaló como una promesa de la música latina. “Siempre intento buscar arte en todo lo que
hago, porque creo en la música como modo de vida”.
American National Public Radio described her as a promise of Latin
music. “I always try to find art in everything I do, because I believe in

La Radio Pública Nacional de Estados Unidos (NPR) la describió
como el “nuevo sonido cubano”. Eme tiene la habilidad de fundir los
sonidos de su isla con otros géneros extendidos y obtener un sonido
fresco como resultado.
Proveniente de una reconocida familia de músicos cubanos y comenzó sus estudios de música a edad temprana.
Eme dio la vuelta al mundo como miembro de Síntesis, banda con la
que fue nominada al Grammy Latino y con la que compartió escenario con artistas como Chucho Valdés, Omara Portuondo, Fito Páez,
Ray Lema, etc.
Compositora de sus temas, esta joven cubana fue premiada por el
Cubadisco 2010 y 2013 a mejor álbum fusión cubano. En el segundo
álbum “Eme”, trabajó con X Alfonso (premio Goya), Pedro Luis Ferrer,
“Ruzzo” de Orishas (premio Grammy) y Harold López-nussa (premio
en el festival de Jazz de Montreux), entre otros grandes músicos.
En su tercer trabajo, Eme usa sus raíces Afro-Cubanas como base
para combinar sonidos más actuales, como géneros de música de
Latinoamericana y jazz, consolidándose como una de las jóvenes
compositoras y cantantes cubanas más importantes de la actualidad.
Eme dirigió el proyecto “Para Mestizar”, auspiciado por la UNESCO,
sobre la diversidad cultural de Cuba. Es miembro también de la campaña del Secretario General de la ONU “Únete para poner fin a la
violencia contra las mujeres y las niñas”.
Eme es directora artística del Havana World Music Festival.
Su dulce voz, su calidad musical y su energía sobre el escenario encantará a todos los amantes de la buena música.

She comes from a renowned family of Cuban musicians and started
her musical studies at a very early age.
She has travelled all around the world as a member of Síntesis, the
band with which she was nominated for a Latin Grammy and shared
the stage with artists such as Chucho Valdés, Omara Portuondo, Fito
Páez, Ray Lema, etc..
Composer of her songs, this young singer has been awarded with the
Cubadisco International Music Award as best Cuban fusion album in
2010 and 2013. In her second album “Eme” she worked with X Alfonso (Goya Award), Pedro Luis Ferrer, “Ruzzo” from Orishas (Grammy winner) and Harold López-nussa (Montreux Jazz festival Award),
among others.
In her third work, Eme uses her Afro-Cuban roots as the basis to combine more modern sounds, such as Latin America music genres and
jazz. She is consolidated as one of the most important Cuban young
composer and singer nowadays.
The Nacional Public Radio of America (NPR) named her as the “Cuban
new sound”. Eme has the ability to merge the sounds of the island with
other globally known genres and get its own result in a very refreshing
way.
Eme directed the project “Cuba Melting Pot”, supported by UNESCO, on the Cuban cultural diversity. She is member of the UN Secretary-General’s “UNiTE to End Violence against Women and Girls”
campaign. She is artistic director of the Havana World Music Festival.
Her beautiful voice, her musical quality and her energy on the stage
will leave no good music lover indifferent.
