> Profile
MADHOC develops its activity in the fields of architecture, urban design, landscape architecture and
design.
MADHOC´s ´s general interest lies in the study of the transformation of cities nowadays, understanding
cities as a phenomenon in continiuos change and in constant reaction between the contradictadory
demands of public and private actors. This interest is expressed in the development of projects in
the fields of public space, former industrial areas transformation, social housing fabrics and urban
action in the public realm. MADHOC ´s design statement can be the result of a dialogue between a
pragmatic and a symbolic approach. Pragmatic by accepting all the data and conditions from reality
not as problems to be avoided but as inspiring facts of life that determine the form and characteristic
of the design process. Symbolic by introducing in the design all the issues which are hard to cuantify
scientifically and that belong to the realm of tradition, illusion, memory and intuition.
MADHOC develops projects both for public administration and for the private sector , in close
relationship with the clients and external consultants, in projects ranging from the small scale of
interior design and industrial design, up to the big scale of the urban design and public space, having
architecture as its most common activity. Besides, it collaborates with internationally renowned offices
and multidisciplinary teams in the development of singular big scale projects supplying technical and
desing assistance.
MADHOC´s work has been awarded several times like the first prize in the international competition
Europan 9 for its proposal of Urban renewal for the industrial area of Szeigt in Györ, Hungary. Its work
and projects have been published and exhibited in many international and national media.

Carmen Paz Perez de Colosía [CP] (A Coruña,1977),studied architecture in the ETSA Madrid and ITT
Chicago between 1995-2003. She obtained the Diploma for Advance Studies (part qualified doctor)
in the Urban Design Department in ETSA Madrid in September 2010.
From 2004 to 2006, she collaborated with the architectural offices of b720 and Nuñez&Ribot. She
has been teaching at the Instituto Europeo de diseño de Madrid in the (Master for Pattern Design) and
in the Architectural School SEK of Segovia (Representation techniques) between 2006 and 2007.
She is assitant professor in the Landscape Workshop led by Edzo Bindels at the Master in Collective
Housing from the ETSA Madrid.
Juan Tur Mc Glone [JT] (Madrid,1977) studied architecture in the ETSA Madrid , TU Berlin and PUC
of Santiago de Chile between 1995-2004. Currently is making his PhD studies in the Architectural
Design Department of the ETSA Madrid.
From 1998 to 2002, he collaborated with Ammán-Canovas-Maruri architects in both competitions
and facilities buildings. From 2005 to 2008, he collaborated with MRIO and WEST 8 in the urban
transfomation of the ”Parque Lineal del Manzanares” and with WEST 8 in the Reconversion of the
tourists area of Playa de Palma in Mallorca.
He is coordinator and assistant professor of the Landscape Workshop led by Edzo Bindels at the
Master in Collective Housing from the ETSA Madrid, and,currently is assistant at the Mansilla y Tuñon
Studio in the Architectural Design Department of the ETSA Madrid.
MADHOC was founded in 2007 by Carmen Paz and Juan Tur together with Ana Arriero Cano, and Carlos
Higinio Esteban as a platform for creation based in Madrid which was active until July 2009 . Today, it
is directed by Carmen Paz and Juan Tur where they continue developing therir activity.
