Como Presidente de! Gobierno de la Comunidad Fora! de Navarra quiero,
desde estas lineas, enviar un afectuosos saludo a todos los participantes en el
Festival Nacional Vasco, que tiene como escenario la localidad de Elko, en el
estado de Nevada.
Y quiero que este saludo sea especialmente intendo para los navarros o
decendientes de navarros que acuden a esta fiesta para festejar y recordar sus
origenes y su entranable tierra.
Estoy seguro de que este encuentro sera enormemente emotivo y
enriquecedor, tanto en lo personal como en lo cultural, ya que servira para afianzar
los lazos de amistad entre las numerosas personas que emigraron hasta distintos
puntos de Estado Unidos y que se han establecido alli, creando unas fami!ias y un
entramado social que sigue manteniendo sus raices con la cultura y las costumbres
de la comunidad que abandonaron al otro !ado de! Atlantico.
Agradezco cordialmente la invitacion para asistir a estos actos que me ha
dirigido la Presidenta de! Club Euskaldunak y lamento enormemente no poder
estar con vosotros en una fecha tan senalada, por impedirmelo el abundante
trabajo previsto para esos dias.
Podeis estar seguros de que en esos primeros dias de julio, en las visperas
de nuestras famosas Fiestas de San Fermin, desde la distancia de los miles de

A SYNOPSIS OF THE MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT OF NAVARRA
The President sends a cordial greeting to all attending this festival, espe­
cially those of Navarrese descent. He is sure that this gathering will be both
emotional and culturally enriching.
This gathering serves as a place for the strengthening of friendship for those
who emigrated to the United States, who created families and a social framework
that maintains the culture and customs of the community they left on the other side
of the Atlantic.
He appreciates the cordial invitation extended to him, but with all the
impending work for that week there with the famous Festival of San Fermin
(Running of the Bulls), he cannot be with us.
He assures us that even from a distance of many kilometers that separate us
he will remember our festival and he will note our happiness that for several hours
we return home in spirit.
We chose to print both the Basque and Spanish letters that were sent to us as a
compliment to theGovernmentofNavarra in it's renewal effort ofbeing "Euskaldun ".
\Ve also thank Navarra for a generous donation to assist the Elko Euzkaldunak in
bringing 01·er the weightlifter and woodchoppers from Narnrra.
